 Is there a freedom of expression in Islam?
 Islam:
 grants human beings total intellectual freedom.

What Kind of freedom is Granted?
 Islam strictly forbids that people be forced
to adopt a certain creed, or to believe in a
particular religion.
 At a time when people were enslaved
intellectually, politically, socially, religiously,
and economically, Islam came to establish
all range of freedoms
What Kind of freedom is Granted?
 Freedom of belief,
"If it had been thy Lord's Will, they would all have
believed, all who are on earth wilt thou then
compel mankind, against their will, to believe?"
 Freedom of thought,
"Let there be no compulsion in religion: truth
stands out clear from error."
What Kind of freedom is Granted?
 Freedom of speech.
 Freedom to criticize.
“And consult them in affairs of the moment.”
How Did it Develop?
 This Islamic principle of freedom
 did not come as a result of some sort of
development in the society
 or an evolution that requested it,
It was revealed for the good of people
and to elevate them on earth.
Is There a Limitation?
 Freedom of expression does not mean
freedom of insult, defamation and slander.
 Freedom of expression is guaranteed on
the condition that:
 religion should not be toyed with,
 people's honor and dignity should not be
transgressed upon.
