- 5. In fact, even the best students often hate school…
- 6. It’s not the learning they hate…
- 7. It’s the way they have to do it….
- 8. Not a morning person? School starts very early…
- 9. Need to talk through things? You have to be quiet in class…
- 10. Need to get a mental picture? You’ll get in trouble for daydreaming…
- 11. Restless? Need to keep moving? You’re told to sit still and pay attention.
- 12. Concentrate better when you eat or drink? NO FOOD OR DRINK in the classroom….
- 13. Even incredibly capable students… can shut down during formal tests…
- 14. and they can start thinking maybe they’re not that smart after all….
- 15. We tell you that your generation can change the world… But we often insist you act and learn like all the rest.
- 16. This year, it can be different. This year, youcan take chargeof your own success.
- 17. Teachers truly want their students to learn.
- 18. We’ve tried for decades to improve education… But adults can’t seem to do it—
- 19. Too much intellect, and not enoughcommon sense…
- 20. Too much politics, and not enoughhumanity…
- 21. But students— now that’s a different story…
- 22. Why don’t we let you tell us how to make educationmore effective?
- 23. Education is aboutstudents, right?
- 24. So we need to ask the learners how theylearn best…
- 25. And if they really know, we have to changethe way we educate them.
- 26. So, here is the powerful message: Don’t expect the system to accommodate you--
- 27. The only way it’s ever going to really change… is if you can provewhat actually works.
- 28. So here’s what you do--
- 29. 1. Know yourstrengths.
- 30. 2.Figure outwhat you need to succeed.
- 31. 3. Be ready to prove it works.
- 32. No excuses! You can survive and thrive in school… even if no one changesbut you…
- 33. It’s not about giving up or“ dumbing down”--
- 34. It’s about your SUCCESS,and how to achieve it…
- 35. …even if no one is trying harder than you are.
- 36. It’s about taking responsibility,not just expecting teachers to do all the work.
- 37. And in the end, we might just change the world….
