Example of Responses
Context and Situation
A compliment, however, must be
given in the right and appropriate context
and situation. One must be able to
carefully assess the situation and act
accordingly.
By ‘context’ aforementioned is a
situation in which the giver of
compliment observe his/her surrounding,
to whom he/she express the compliment
to, and the situation around them. There
are some situations in which a
compliment might not be appropriate,
such situation like a funeral.
The giver of compliment must also
pay attention to whom he/she express
his/her compliment to. There must be
differences when you are giving your
compliment to an older person, your
teacher, your little brother, and your best
friend. It is important to
differentiate!
Practice!
1. Try to give a compliment to one of your
friend with the same age,
2. Try to distinguish a compliment given by
your friend,
3. Give an appropriate respond to your
friend’s compliment,
4. Try to give a compliment to an older
person.
Good luck!
