The document discusses the field of forensic linguistics and provides two case studies as examples. In the first study, computational stylistic analysis was used to determine the authenticity of purported classified documents about a secret government group. Only one of seventeen documents showed strong likelihood of being authored by the person it was attributed to. The second study analyzed 50 Iranian court cases linguistically to identify crimes like perjury and threats when clear evidence was lacking. Morphological analysis of brand names was given as one example of linguistic evidence that can help legal cases.
