"ford" and "ham," which imply "a wading spot or ford by a settlement." Robert Watts gave the
location the name Rose Hill in 1787. Bishop Hughes recruited five French Jesuits from St. Mary's

Legislature granted the College a charter, and the Society of Jesus took over the governance of
the College. The institution's name was changed to Fordham University in 1907. Fordham

can apply for access to the fall, spring, or
summer trimesters. The admissions committee
considers a student's academic ability as
evidenced by undergraduate transcripts and
GMAT scores (in the 540-670 range), personal
statements that detail goals and
accomplishments, and letters of
recommendation and work experience that
demonstrate managerial abilities and
motivation.
No prior business coursework is required of
applicants. However, professional work
experience, while not required, enhances a
candidate's candidacy. On average, accepted
applicants have three to eight years of
professional job experience. Fordham accepts
600 on the paper version, 250 on the computer
version, and 100 on the internet-based version
of the TOEFL. The Educational Testing Service
3. will send the score immediately to the Fordham
Summer and fall applications are reviewed in January, while spring applications are reviewed in
August. Foreign students may be required to take a language exam at the university to evaluate
whether English as second language classes should be included in their necessary curriculum.

Financial Aid and
Scholarships:
Financial aid is available to students enrolled
in degree programs for six or more credits. In
addition, graduate assistantships and/or loans
may be provided to full-time students. Part-
time students have a range of loan options to
select from. Graduate Assistantships are
available to full-time students enrolled in 12 or
more credits.
Accommodation:
University has studio and one-bedroom
apartments for graduate students on New York
City's Upper East Side. They are within walking
distance of public transportation, grocery
stores, and restaurants.
Facilities at the
University:
The Quinn Library has an extensive collection
of electronic and microfilm reference materials,
books, and critical journals. An online catalog

addition, the staff assists students with their
research. The Microcomputer Center acts as the
principal computing center and provides
students with a wide range of hardware and
software. Counseling and psychological
services aim to help students grow. In addition,
students can use the GBA Technology Center
