Food Chains
By Aaliyah
Producers
One day there was some grass. Grass is a producer, so it gets its energy from the
sun. Plants are at the bottom of the food chain.
Herbivore
A bunny came and ate some of the grass. A bunny is a herbivore, so they only eat
plants. They get their energy from the plants. Herbivores are a little higher on the
food chain than humans.
Carnivores
A little bit later, the bunny was hopping around the woods. Since it was night the
wolves were out. The wolf jumped out and ate the bunny. The wolf is a carnivore,
so they only eat meat. They get a bit of the energy from the plant the bunny
consumed earlier today. The wolf are even higher on the food chain.
Omnivore
A few days later the wolf got into a fight with a bear. The wolf died in fight. The
bear was gonna eat him, but decided he wanted some berries instead. The bear is
a omnivore, like us humans. They eat both fruits and meat. They are in a way like
us. We have flat teeth to eat fruits and veggies, and we have sharp teeth to chew
meat.
Scavengers
Around two hours later, a crow came and ate the wolf’s dead body. Crows are
scavengers. They are important to the decomposers. They eat the big parts of the
body, so the decomposers can decompose the rest.
Decomposers
Some worms came to decompose the body after the crows left. They decompose
the body so it can become a plant and the cycle can start over again.
Decomposers are very important to the cycle. There wouldn't be as much plants
without them.
Producers
After the worms turns the wolf’s body into fertilizer, the “wolf’s body” starts to
sprout. After a few months the “body” turns into a plant. Then the cycle starts
again.
Thank you
:)
