Researchers’ Consulting Activities

 Researchers provide consultancy to industrial companies, considered as
     a private activity

 Consulting may involve technology or know-how transfer, as well as
development of assets, in particular when a researcher is not conscious of IPR
     issues

 TT officers have interest in monitoring these activities to exploit transfer
opportunities arising from contacts with industry and to ensure protection of IPR

 The practice presents a scheme of actions which allows to:

 be up-to-date with every consulting project

 to examine the scope of contracts

 to change the initial agreement or to propose a new one

           to follow-up their realization

Partnerships

 Research partnerships increase transfer possibilities and are sources of innovation

 Special focus on partnerships with industrial companies: market oriented, high
potential of technology transfer opportunities emerging from the collaboration

 Partnership Management – overview of different types of partners and levels of
collaboration, which determine the choice of strategy and commitment, as well as the
form of arrangement between the partners

 Partnership Agreement IPR Guidelines – guidelines for negotiating partnership
agreements, which set up the terms and conditions of future technology transfer
operations, in particular concerning IPR issues; the guidelines should be in line with
the research organisation’s policy concerning industrial collaborations

 Partnership Satisfaction and Impact Survey – satisfaction survey enable to
identify weak and strong points of partnerships and to bring improvements to future
collaborations; impact assessment – enable the in-depth evaluation and policy
           definition

Valorisation Opportunity Workshop

 ICON projects: interdisciplinary collaborative projects between IBBT research
teams and various types of external stakeholders

 The ICON Valorisation Workshop of IBBT aims at:

 detection of valorisation opportunities from the research project results

 defining the valorisation plan within the consortium

 They are organised for partners from the projects in the mid way or at its ends

 One day workshop with a business school expert has a well-defined format
and follows a prescribed checklist to asses the research results

 It is an efficient way to translate demand-driven collaborative research projects
     into marketable products and services
