This document announces the Fishackathon Bergen 2016 hackathon event held from April 22-24 in Bergen, Norway. It was presented by the U.S. Department of State to address sustainability and ocean health issues. Participants formed teams to develop technological solutions over the weekend for selected fisheries and ocean problem statements. On the final day, teams pitched their projects to expert judges. The event was coordinated by the University of Bergen with support from sponsors including the U.S. Embassy in Norway and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Prizes were provided by Google Oslo and the Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries.

An app to be used by field staff and managers to
determine when Asian carps would be entering
individual streams to spawn each summer.

10. 7. Maritime Domain Awareness
A webpage or app that can pull information
directly from all kinds of freely available internet
sources about U.S. and other coastal nations’
fishing permit data and vessel data, including
images; integrate the information; and then
aggregate the information into a useful, easy-to-
search, standardized format that can be a stand-
alone output for law enforcement or others,
such as responsible marketers and consumers.
