Finding information in the Library
1. Find a book or DVD using the Library Catalogue Click on Library Catalogue from Moodle home page PAGE 1 of 10
2. Enter a search term To search by keyword: Type a word – the computer will search the catalogue. This will only bring up items which have this word in the catalogue record. Try out different words To search by author: Type the surname of the author in the search box. To search by title: Type the full title in the seach box. If you don’t know the full title use keywords (see below) To search by subject: Type the name of the subject, or the Dewey subject number from the printed Subject Index. PAGE 2 of 10

Your search results Click on Search to return to search screen Click on arrow to see more results This is the list summary view Shows Dewey Classification number where book can be found on shelves. To see detailed results double click on individual resource Shows Location, Loan type and availability PAGE 7 of 10
8. Detailed Results Imprint Check the date – is it a recent publication? Medium This could be Book, e-book, DVD, Journal, Map etc Class. This is the Dewey Class Number where the item can be found on the shelves Loan type-This may be Standard loan, Reference, Overnight loan etc. Location This will tell you where the item is shelved Status Whether the item is Available or On Loan Due date When the item is due backif on loan PAGE 8 of 10
9. Find the book So a copy of this book is available, and can be found on the Library shelves at the number 150 CAR And you can see from the picture what to look for! PAGE 9 of 10
