Actions can support
or deny access to
rights and
opportunities
Virginia Chan
Rights
• Rights should not be denied by the
government or anybody in the world, our
rights should be supported by everybody,
because no one can deny our rights.
Everybody have the same right, rights are
what everybody has.
Actions
• Actions is what we do, our actions should
always be supported and not to be denied.
For example, in the book Iqbal, the action
that he did supported the others who is in
child labour.
Circumstance
• Circumstance is our situation, if we live in a
good circumstance or a developed well
country, our circumstance will mostly be
supported and theirs also good
opportunities. If we live in a bad
circumstance, our opportunities and rights
will most likely be denied. For example
Iqbal, Iqbal’s circumstance is quite bad, he is
in child labour, his circumstance was better
when he escaped and started studying.
Opportunities
• Opportunities is our privilege. For example,
most people who lives in Hong Kong has
the opportunity to go to schools, not like
some places like Pakistan or Afghanistan.
More developed countries will most likely
have more opportunities than the ones
which aren’t that developed.
Protection
★Article 4 - The government has a responsibility to make sure your rights
are protected. They must help your rights and create an environment
where you can grow and reach potential.
Protection is a main
thing which
UNICEF supports.
We should be
protected by the
government. We
should always treat
people the way you
wanna be treated.
Food
• Article 24 - You have the right to the best health care
possible, safe water to drink, nutritous food, a clean and safe
environment, and information to help you stay clean.
You have the right to
healthy diet. We
should have grain,
protein, calcium,
vitamin, and
vegetables. We should
have 3 meals per day.
Education
★Article 28 -You have the rights to good quality education.
You should be encouraged to go to school to the highest
level you can.
We have rights to
study, we shouldn’t
be in child labour.
We should be able
to have special
educations too!
Play
★Article 31 - have the right to play and rest.
Play is a very
important
thing for every
child, but a lot
of child’s
rights are
denied by
their masters.
Examples
- St. Judes
- Iqbal
- Chocolate Labour Free
- ILO
- UNICEF
- UNCRC
St.Judes
• Kim (manager) took actions by
supporting children in Tanzania. She
supported children to have the rights to
study. Their rights may be denied by
parents because of poverty. A lot of
children their doesn’t have the
opportunities to a special education or
even a normal education.
Iqbal
In the story of Iqbal, Iqbal took a lot of
actions to support a lot of children. An
action he took was to escape from the
carpet factory and tried to arrest his master
Hussain Khan. His escape supported the
children in the carpet factory to have their
freedoms, their rights were all up held. Iqbal
has the opportunity and rights to study .
Hussain Khan denied every children’s rights
by not letting them have good nutritions etc.
UNICEF
UNICEF took a lot of actions. They
took actions by supporting a lot of
families which is in difficulties. For
example, in a photo essay our group did
together, their was a family which we
predict is in an war place. UNICEF
provided food and water to support
their healthy diet. Some of their rights
were denied too, they don’t have
parents to care for them.
UNCRC
UNCRC helps children too. They are like an organization
which is similar to the UNICEF, they support children who
doesn’t have the rights to do stuff. Please check the file
underneath.
ILO & Chocolate
Labour FreePakistan is in a bad circumstance, the
International Labour Organization
supported a lot of children. After the
support, a lot of children got their
rights back. It mainly help for chocolate
labour free. Erick (child labour) works
in Pakistan. There are a lot of
economic problems happening in
Pakistan. ILO supported the children
to be free from child labour. Now,
they have the opportunity to go to
Proving the C.I
I think the central idea is true. The reason why I know this
is because of all my understanding about this unit, and some
research we as a class did together. Education and freedom
is super hard for a lot of children. People like Kim (St.Judes)
provided a good opportunity for children in Tanzania to
study. They did not deny anybodies rights. But people who
are masters of child labour, they denied every children’s
rights, as there are a lot of articles about children rights, a
lot of are denied. UNICEF, UNCRC, ILO they support a lot
of people.
Proving the C.I
Page 2 (summarize)
Page 2 (summarize)• Support Actions: Kim - supported children rights to
education
• Deny Actions: Hussain Khan - deny rights to the children in
child labour
• Support Rights: UNICEF, children rights
• Deny Rights: Hussain Khan - every children right
• Support Opportunity: Kim, UNICEF, UNCRC - healthy foods
and education
• Deny Opportunity: Kim, UNICEF, UNCRC - Hussain Khan
How can I make a
difference?
• Standing up (like Iqbal) tell everybody what
child labour is and how it affected
everybody
• Make donations, give food to people who
are in difficulties
