This presentation will give you some tips for getting organized with your final project, but they can be applied to other projects in general.

to complete your project.
• Determine what research needs to be done
• Break the project down into manageable

6. Project Option II
• Online Mulimedia Package
1. Create an online multimedia news package.
2. Choose a story; you will be the reporter, the
multimedia expert, and the editor.
3. After choosing a story, decide who your
audience will be, what questions readers will ask,
and how you will answer these questions.
4. Requirements: 2 sidebars, 2 graphics, 2
multimedia options (like podcasts, slideshows, live
videos, photo galleries).
5. Include links to 2 sites related to your story.
6. Include 1 type of user participation (like a
survey, comments section, discussion group).
7. Conclusion: Use either Google sites or Weebly to
create your news package.

7. Project Option III
• Write a Research paper about various levels of
freedom enjoyed by journalists around the globe:
1. Using “Reporters without Borders for Freedom of
Information”, choose 3 countries that represent different levels of
journalistic freedom.
2. Complete an organizer to describe and “sort out” why you chose
these countries.
3. Study the 3 countries you chose:
a. what level of freedom journalists have in each country.
b. how does the level of journalistic freedom affect life in each
country.
c. how is the government and economy affected?
4. List your sources.
5. Use a graphic organizer to sort out your notes as outline.
6. Write your research paper. (Tell readers about the effects of
journalistic freedom on 3 countries’ government, citizens, and
economic activity.

8. Tips and Helpful Hints
• Create a timeline. Below is an example:
Add a 3rd
column with extra notes to add specifics
if that would help.
You know what needs to be done. Organize it so
you will have a plan! Nothing just “happens”
unless we make it happen!

9. Project Management and Problem Solving
• Time management: Prioritize activities. Ask yourself
—what’s at the top of the list to get done today?
Then what’s next and so on….
• Develop Self-Discipline: Schedule a task each day
and make sure to complete it when you said you
would. Write down what you accomplished. Keep
track for one month. Keep adding another task and
completing that one, tracking what you
accomplished. Develop this habit.
• Create a To-do list
• Set up and Review Daily Schedule
• Organize Tasks Using a Calendar for Scheduling

10. Remember:
▫ Submit work in stages before the final
deadline in case you need to resubmit.
▫ Get organized.
▫ Ask questions.
▫ Develop a schedule of when each step
must be completed.
▫ Gather all information needed.
▫ Edit/Improve.
▫ Submit!!!
