This document contains work from six students in an Advanced English II class at UNAD in Colombia. It includes summaries of a scenario about a couple, Scott and Tracy, having relationship problems due to less time spent together and Scott's cheating. Each student responds to questions about how Scott and Tracy met, why Tracy's promotion caused issues, how Scott now feels about cheating, and why Tracy suspects her friend Sharon may be involved. The students provide their thoughts on the relationship problems and suggestions for resolving them.

2. ANGGIE TATIANA CUELLAR WORK
• How long have Scott and Tracy been going out?
Scott and Tracy have been going out for three years.
• How did they meet?
They met because Tracy had a best friend, her name was Sharon and his boyfriend was Scott, they
met when Scott and Sharon was together, it was love at first sight (a real love).
• Why do you think Tracy’s promotion caused problems between them?
The new position of Tracy as office manager has caused problem in their relationship because
they’ve been spending less and less time together and have been having more and more
arguments, so the relationships in this cases do not work very well, because it lacks of
communication.
• How does Scott Feel now about his cheating?
He feels regret about what he did, because he realized that Tracy is definitely the one he wants to
be with, despite their problems. Scott is feeling so sick and he is worried about his bad action.
• Why does Tracy suspect that Sharon may be involved?
Tracy thinks that Sharon may be involved because her tells her and with some reasons about Scott’s
attitudes, for example: Scott has become more distant and irritable. If she asks him any questions
about where he was or what he was doing he loses his temper and accuses her of not trusting him.

• What do you think about the situation between Scott and Tracy?
Into my consideration this kind of problems are very common in a relationship, nowadays it’s so common
that people take into account the job more than the own life and with this I am meaning that sometimes
it’s more important superficial things than the family or the couple. This is the situation between Scott and
Tracy that do not find the way to be together and have a better communication.
• b. What suggestion do you make to solve the problem?
In my opinion I consider that in this situation they should talk in order to expose each one of their ideas
and points of view, because in a relationship the most important is the communication, so they should take
a break in their busy lives and think about what they are doing and of course spend more time together,
try that in the engagement doesn’t lose that magic that they felt at the first sight.

• What do you think about the situation between Scott and Tracy?
From my point of view is a couple with the common problems in a relation, I think the time is an
important element for the relationship. When people don´t have time the fire into the relation is
giving up. The confidence is other important element into a relationship.
• What suggestion do you make to solve the problem?
I recommend to Scott be more empathy with her girlfriend and Tracy has to be more balanced with
the time for her job and her love and more confident with him. Scott has to choose his true love,
because if he continues seeing Sharon really he doesn´t love Tracy.

They have been going out by three years ago.
• How did they meet?
Sharon and Tracy were best friends and Scott had a relation with Sharon after that he and Tracy have fallen
in love at first sight.
• Why do you think Tracy’s promotion caused problems between them?
Because Tracy doesn´t have time for her boyfriend, but she thinks he doesn´t understand her. The relations
need to be fed by time and this is a big problem for their relation. Tracy´s promotion requires more time
and responsibility and hard working at the office.
• How does Scott Feel now about his cheating?
Schott is feeling so sick and he is worried about his bad action. Also, in the work he is having problems with
the boss, and he warned to improve on if not he will be fired.
• Why does Tracy suspect that Sharon may be involved?
Within the last month her boyfriend has been distant and irritable. But her intuition is telling her Sharon is
involved in this situation.

• a. How long have Scott and Tracy been going out?
• They have been going out for three years
• b. How did they meet?
• Scott met Tracy because he was going out with her best friend; Sharon. So one day Scott and Tracy sew each other and
soon they fell in love.
• c. Why do you think Tracy’s promotion caused problems between them?
• Because any kind of relationship needs time, and much more when we are talking about a couple of lovers. Tracy had not
enough time to spend with her boyfriend Scott, so the relationship was not as good as the beginning.
• d. How does Scott Feel now about his cheating?
• Scott feels very bad because he knows he did a wrong thing, and this situation is affecting his working life too.
• e. Why does Tracy suspect that Sharon may be involved?
• I believe Tracy suspect that Sharon is involved in this situation because Sharon and Scott never stop talk like friends, and
of course because Sharon was Scott´s girlfriend before her.

• b. How did they meet? They met when Scott had a relationship with Tracy’s best friend.

much time together.
• d. How does Scott Feel now about his cheating? He´s not ok, it´s clear that Tracy is his only love.
• e. Why does Tracy suspect that Sharon may be involved? She really doesn´t know why but I guess it´s
because Sharon and Scott had a nice past together.
• SECOND PART.
• a. What do you think about the situation between Scott and Tracy? I think they should spend more time
and try to talk to in order to clarify their situation, their expectations and this way find a way to fix their
relationship. On the other hand, if they can´t get to anywhere in that case, they should break down.
• b. What suggestion do you make to solve the problem? These kind of problems are very common lately,
so one thing they should do is try to talk about their situation and look for possible solutions as well as expose

• Tracy’s promotion caused problem between them, because she has been spending more time at the office and less
time with Scott.
• d. How does Scott Feel now about his cheating?
• Scott doesn’t feel very well, because he realized that Sharon is not the right person, and Tracy is definitely the one
he wants to be with.
• e. Why does Tracy suspect that Sharon may be involved?
• Lately Scott was become more distant and irritable, so Tracy had the intuition that it was something to be with
Sharon.
