Our Mission
The Green Pioneers are students, volunteers, educators, and
recycling pioneers who want to promote innovative efficient ways to
educate and develop recycling awareness techniques that are
effective and sustainable. We strive to incorporate green habits into
everyday life in order to create a simple method that will have a
true impact on the community with a specific focus in the green
zone in order to support the mission of The Greater New Bedford
Regional Refuse District.

Goals Met
1. Educate people (students, teachers, faculty and people from the
community) about recycling
Provide five recycling bins for the teachers at the Gomes Elementary School
obtained from Marissa
Provide teachers, faculty, and students with educational information on recycling
(pamphlets from Marissa, and packages made by Rachel for teachers)
2. Have a t-shirt contest with the students at the Gomes Elementary
School that creates an innovative logo or slogan that represents
recycling
Have contest among the five classes of the 4th grade students
Implement weekly recycle classroom leaders by providing each classroom with a
King and Queen Crown for the students
Have the winning logo or slogan printed on t-shirts for all of the 4th graders
Find a sponsor to finance the costs of the t-shirts - estimated costs $600-$700

Our Team Dysfunction
Ignoring controversial topics
Failure to tap into all opinions
and perspectives of members
Waste of time and energy on
interpersonal risk management
