“Job Fair in Ferguson draws 700”
Locality Development
 Findings from CBS St. Louis supports that Ferguson has attempted to
improve the community by providing jobs at a local job fair.
 This job fair focuses on human capital by providing jobs with the intent to
improve skills or create new skills. This also allow for individuals to gain
knowledge about various techniques.
 The job fair also focuses on financial capital by ultimately employing
individuals which would then allow individuals to recycle the money back
in to the community.

“Grant money was pooled together by state and local leaders to help businesses
rebuild” (Long,2015).
“911 Hair Salon at 9193 W. Florissant Ave. is one of three businesses receiving grant money to
rebuild after violent protests Sunday night” (Long,2015).

 KSDK news channel five reported on a news story entitled “Grant money
helping Ferguson businesses rebuild.” Funds were brought together to help
business recover after being vandalized by protestors (Long, 2015).
 This is a social planning aspect of community involvement because the
grants are solving community issues by giving the businesses money to
rebuild.
 Also according to social planning, this improves the quality of life of both
the people who own the buildings and the people who will be able to
patronize the stores once they are rebuilt.

 An article from Fox2now describes how protesters gathered together on
the anniversary of Michael Brown’s death and shut down I-70 in both
directions (Millitzer, 2015).
 In this protest, they had barriers on the road that read “Ferguson is
everywhere” (Millitzer, 2015).
 Arrests were made as this was an act of civil disobedience (Millitzer, 2015).
 This is an example of social action because protesters gathered together to
protest the murder of Michael Brown. According to social action, there is
disadvantage to powerless individuals. Protesters felt as if the judicial system
did not fulfill its job, and that Michael Brown should not have been killed.
