What  is it? The  Mobile YouthNet Project  sends daily SMS opportunities on: job opportunities cultural and sports events free courses leisure activities 500 boys and girls from poor communities (favelas) in Brasil receive those SMS.   www.redejovem.org.br/0800
Step-by-step www.redejovem.org.br/0800 The Youth Net Program (Rede Jovem) establishes partnerships with community based organizations  Through these partnerships, young people apply to receive the service via selection process (see SWOT analysis) Rede Jovem content team searches opportunities for the specific 0800 website Opportunities are sent via SMS for registered users Each boy/girl receives one message per day with job opportunities or free services (cultural, educational, health services)
What is the content? The messages received by the youth include information about:  First job opportunities (without previous experience) Where you can practice sports for free  Free courses and lectures agenda Free cultural events (concerts, theater, movies etc) Tips about where you can request documents for free  Where you can do a medical exam for free  Campaigns (DST/AIDS prevention, sexual and reproductive rights) www.redejovem.org.br/0800
What is the content? The information sent is: Only about  free  events and opportunities Selected by state, city and neighborhood Selected by the chosen issue (job and culture, for example) About opportunities that happen in a place close to where they live About job opportunities according to their profile About cultural events focused to youth www.redejovem.org.br/0800
Who are they? In the first phase of the project, were benefited: 500 young people 17 to 24 years old High School students (completed or in course) Residents from the chosen low income communities  Those without Internet access Those that have a mobile phone www.redejovem.org.br/0800
What was done? Partnership with  5 community based organizations   500 youngsters  in the database, 100 from each place 56.763 sent messages  in 6 months 3.520 opportunities  submitted in the website 340 community based organizations  contacted Website  www.redejovem.org.br/0800  online and with national reach www.redejovem.org.br/0800
What are the results? 64%  of the young people have already used the information from the messages (SMS) From them, 30% used more than 5 times 93%  considered the messages very useful 65%  have already (re)sent the messages for other people  From them, 29% for more than 5 persons www.redejovem.org.br/0800
What are the results? 47%  already sent CVs to advertised vacancies or went to job interviews From them, 56% did it more than 5 times 2.000 youngsters  visit daily the Mobile Youth Net website, searching for opportunities 3.300 youngsters  were benefited, directly or indirectly www.redejovem.org.br/0800
www.redejovem.org.br/0800 Mobile Youth Net is one of the global winner of the  Nike-Changemakers Sport for a better world competition “ Sport and social change via mobile phones” 23%  of the young people started some sport activity after receiving the information by SMS 382 entries, 69 countries, 16 finalists, 3 winners.
