This document is a proposal form for a BTEC Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production final major project. The project will be a documentary/film about the student's friend Jacques Laycock and his life involving extreme scootering. It will include footage of Jacques scootering at skateparks as well as interviews about his family life, hobbies, friends and lack of employment. The target audience will be teenage males interested in scootering who can relate to Jacques' situation. Pre-production techniques like storyboards, schedules and risk assessments will be used, along with filming on a Canon camera and editing in Adobe Premier Pro and After Effects.

Media Format (film,
documentary, motion graphics,
photography, animation,
graphic design etc)
The project I want to produce is a Documentary / Film. It will be
the story of my friend Jacques Laycock. I want this video to have
music and natural audio from the footage. And I will want the
main feature of the project to be around the sport at which
Jacques does, Extreme Scootering. As it is a big part of his life it
wouldn’t be right to not include it with detail. It will all be self-
filmed on my Canon 600D outdoors at my local skateparks. There
will be aspects of my video which will be located in other places.
Like at Jacques house and other locations.
Synopsis of Idea (content,
narrative, genre)
It will be an informative but entertaining video as not all of the
content will be the same. There won’t really be a particular story
to the video due to it being a video about Jacques life. But the
main feature is going to be his sport as it is one of the main things
in his life. But it will include aspects of his home, family life and
what he does when he is at home like Gaming and listen to music.
There will be mention of his friends and socializing. However most
of his closest friends are the people in the same sport. All of this
information will be passed through interview questions. Either I or
another will ask Jacques questions and he will explain his answer.
In some cases the audio from the interview will play over other
clips relevant to the questions.
Target Audience?
(demographic NOT age range)
When considering demographics for the target audience it is hard
due to the main target audience being a little young to fall into
this form of scale. However I would say that the people which will
fall into the demographics scale will mostly be teens either
participating in apprenticeships so into D Working Class and E as
most work will probably be bar jobs / retail work. And I would say
that the majority of the target audience will be male due to the
sport being quite male dominant. Also with the overall video
being about a male may go either way with male or female. You
can’t just think that way so there will be female consideration.
How will your project meet the
needs of your target audience?
I would feel that my project would meet the target audience’s
needs due to it being based on a person based in them
demographics. As of yet Jacques doesn’t actually have a job so it is
relevant in that sense. And also like I mentioned about the
majority if the audience being in the position Jacques is in now
where they can’t find jobs due to them being in education and too
young. So the content will be relevant to the people which can
relate to Jacques current position. Also, most of the audience will
be people expecting it to be mainly based around his sport, which
it will be. So the overall video content will be relevant to the
demographic going to be watching. I feel like the people that will
be watching it will be able to relate to it. I almost want it to
influence people to go and create something as fun and to
possibly influence younger people watching to get into the sport if
they were contemplating. I also feel it may trigger memories for
people that maybe were like Jacques when they were his age.

What production techniques
will you use to realise your
project?
In order to create such a project I will create and use pre
production methods like detailed storyboards to plan the main
structure of the video. From the week we started our final major
projects we started updating production diaries and production
schedules to stay on track with our work. We have risk
assessments to keep safe throughout the whole of the project.
When using all of the above methods we should keep on track
and have everything planned properly. Then for the production I
will be shooting my footage with my own Canon camera, choosing
my final footage and start to edit the footage together. Then
towards the end of production should be the completion of the
editing; this then leads to Post Production. Finally the post
production is the final outcome of the video alongside a
evaluation of the whole project. Too achieve the production and
post production I will be using software’s like Adobe Premier Pro
and Adobe After Effects. And also camera equipment like Tri-
pods, external microphones and different camera lenses.
