Activity
 Watch the Malaysia Education Blueprint video.

 Based on 11 shifts presented in Malaysia Education
Blueprint, how this shift can give impact to the
stakeholder
 Divide yourself into four groups:
› Students

Issues to think about
 Technology and education
i. If used correctly, mobile devices and the
applications they support, will help prepare
students for their future careers.
ii. Integrating technology into the classroom is an
effective way to connect with students of all
learning styles.
iii. Combining new tech like VR (virtual reality)
with traditional classroom instruction is one
example of how the introduction of new
technology can enhance the learning
experience and create new opportunities.
Issues to think about (cont.)
 Technology and education
 Malaysian Education Blueprint- Leverage ICT
to scale up quality learning across Malaysia
 Provide internet access and virtual learning
environment across all schools
 Maximise use of ICT for distance and self-
paced learning to expand capacity and
allow for more customised learning
Issues to think about (cont.)
 Assessment and attainment
i. Provides diagnostic feedback
ii. Motivates performance
iii. Helps educators set standards
• Malaysian Education Blueprint
 Provide equal access to quality education of an
international standard
 Ensure every child is proficient in BM and English
 Ensure high performing school leaders in every
school
Issues to think about (cont.)
 Government policies and education
curriculum
i. Guideline to enhance student’s learning
• Malaysian Education Blueprint
 Develop values-driven Malaysian
 Transform teaching into profession of
choice
 Transform Ministry delivery capabilities and
capacity
Issues to think about (cont.)
 Health and child development
i. Children’s early experiences – the bonds they
form with their parents and their first learning
experiences
ii. Recent research confirms that the first five years
are particularly important for the development
of the child's brain, and the first three years are
the most critical in shaping the child's brain
architecture. Early experiences provide the
base for the brain's organizational development
and functioning throughout life. They have a
direct impact on how children develop learning
skills as well as social and emotional abilities.
Research evidence
 Counting down the top 5 education
issues for 2017 by Thomas B.Fordham
Institute in Ohio
i. School accountability
ii. E-schools
iii. The new federal administration
iv. Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)
v. Charters and choice

Survey evidence
 EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative (ELI) explored the
2017 Key Issues in Teaching and Learning. The
Key Issues survey is an important resource for
our community, as it indicates the community's
consensus on the top themes in post-
secondary education. As such, it is a useful
tool for both strategic and tactical planning.
i. Accessibility & Universal Design for Learning
ii. Online & Blended Teaching & Learning
iii. Privacy and Security
iv. Adaptive Teaching and Learning
Applications of research findings
in learning
 Professional Development: Need, Content,
and Methods
 Faculty members play a key role in the success of
all of their students yet have little knowledge
regarding the inclusion of students with disabilities
in their courses. They need to know more about
legal issues, accommodation strategies, and
resources.
Applications of research
findings in learning (cont.)
 Learning Styles
 In order to support all learning styles,
presenters must use a variety of teaching
strategies, verbal discussion, visuals,
demonstration, and active experiences.
Incorporating case studies and practical real-
life situations for problem-solving can address
all learning styles and promote optimal
learning.
Applications of research
findings in learning (cont.)
 Types of Learning
 Domains of learning include cognitive,
psychomotor, and affective. In the cognitive
domain, skills include knowledge, comprehension,
application, analysis, and synthesis of information.
Learning may also be viewed within the categories
of knowledge and skill.
Applications of research
findings in learning (cont.)
 Education for all
 giving due attention to special needs students
and continually finding ways to improve special
education
 The Malaysia Education Blueprint (2013-2025)
also called for increasing enrolment of special
needs students in the PPI by improving the
quality of the programme offer holistically
 The mode of learning for every special needs
students is different and they need well-planned,
relevant and realistic pedagogy modifications

This video has nothing to do with education
but it is a research evidence and it is
definitely WORTH WATCHING!
Activity!
 Divide yourself into four groups. In your
opinion, suggest an issue in education
and propose a study to combat the
issue.
Thank you 
