This document is a student dissertation that examines the competencies of quantity surveying students in Malaysia's construction industry. Specifically, it investigates the expectations of employers regarding the competencies of new graduates and compares this to the educational framework provided by universities. The dissertation was submitted in fulfillment of a Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying at Taylor's University in Malaysia. It includes a literature review on competencies, employer expectations, and the Malaysian education system. The student conducted surveys of graduates and interviews with employers and lecturers to understand competency gaps. The research aims to establish solutions to conflicts between employer needs and the competencies developed through university education.
