1. How do film Trailers persuade target
audiences to go and watch a film?
2. ✤ Film trailers are meant to attract film target audiences as they are based
around certain demographics of people. Depending on age and gender
film trailers will be crafted to suit specific audiences, making it easier for
different members of nicety to feel as if they have something to each
made for their demographic.
✤ In order to make a film appeal to audiences a trailer must contain a great
deal of information in a short space of time, in order to explain the film in
as much detail and keep audiences entertained as well. This is usually in
two minutes which attract the attention of its target audience and make
the film stand out for all the other competition on the market.
3. To make sure it surpasses its competition, a film trailer must contain most aspects of the film.
This done my including scenes of action, romance etc. in order to give audiences a real feel
for what the film will be like. This can also be done by including the most interesting clips of
the film building up action packed excitement (an example) for audiences of such film. The
public is alerted of what genre the film is advertising, giving away a main idea of the plot, the
celebrities featured which might catch your eye, and special effects. This information can
entice viewers in wanting to watch the film however, trailers are rather complicated as they
cannot reveal too much of the plot risking in a low number of interest in the film. Anticipation
has to be created, meaning trailers are only released about 8 weeks before the screening of a
film. This creates publicity as well as curiosity making sure more audiences decide to watch a
film.
4. ✤ Usually trailers are played at cinema screenings before another film of
a similar genre and certificate is playing. This definitely attracts
audiences as the target audience already in the room. Similarly, this is
done at home as well as certain channels will show certain trailers at
specific times. This is a way to ensure anything not targeted at
younger audiences is not shown to the wrong audience.
