2. What film poster conventions are there?
As my genre for my trailer, poster and magazine is psychological horror I predominately focused on horror
posters conventions, these included:
 Main image – covering at least 80% of the page.
 Daunting masthead – stands out compared to all other sources of writing, often in bright colour following
the posters colour theme.
 Particular areas of a body or face is used as a main image – for example in 28 films which I had looked
into including; bionic women, chucky or hipnoz the main image covering the whole poster was an eye,
usually an unusual colour or bright.
 Common setting – housing is a common setting used in psychological horror posters.
 Particular colour themes – red, black, white or blue.
 Minimal text – they try to get viewers to be attracted to the main image rather than the writing on the
poster.
 Bold text – big bold text is often used on the posters as a replacement for minimal amount of texts.

3. How will I use them?
 Bold text – I will use a bold and bright text for my masthead which will be located across
the top of the poster.
 Main image – my main image will be plastered across the whole page underneath the title
and any text.
 Colour theme – as it’s a physiological horror poster I will be using blacks, reds and whites.
 Minimal text – I will include the release date, masthead and any actors names on my
poster but apart from the masthead my text will be miniscule located at the bottom of my
poster.
 Particular areas of a body or face – my main image is either going to be my actors faces
merged together or it will be a long shot full body image.
