Filligar is an acclaimed American indie rock band comprised of the three Mathias brothers and their friend Casey Gibson. They have headlined sold out shows at major venues across the US and UK, and have supported well-known acts. Hailed as “one of the best young bands in America,” Filligar is comprised of the three Mathias
brothers—Pete, Teddy, and Johnny—and their lifelong friend, Casey Gibson. The band has
headlined sold out shows at some of the USA's most acclaimed venues, toured the United
Kingdom to wildly enthusiastic audiences, and supported major acts such as Counting Crows,
The Black Keys, Alabama Shakes, Ben Folds, and My Morning Jacket. The powerhouse music
blog Ryan’s Smashing Life has named them one of the top 8 live acts in the USA, along with
fellow Chicago rockers Wilco.
Filligar has a prolific catalog of original music, recognized as “of prestige value” by the American
Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP). The band has been called “a fresh
take on indie rock” by Paste Magazine, one of music’s “Next Big Things” by SPIN, and “a breath
of fresh air” by Consequence of Sound.
Recently, the United States Department of State appointed Filligar cultural ambassadors
representing "the best of the U.S. arts community, and the band has subsequently toured
Russia, Azerbaijan, Kuwait, and Guyana.
Filligar’s latest album release, Keepsakes of the Interior, was recorded partially in their self-built
gondola garage studio in Los Angeles, California and finished off in Chicago’s legendary
Electrical Audio Studio. Their previous release Hexagon was named “Best New Music” by
American Songwriter magazine, and their earlier album The Nerve was nominated “Best Rock
Album” at the Independent Music Awards.
