Filipinos immigrated to New Zealand, bringing their culture and traditions including arts, music, dance and festivals. They faced some challenges adjusting like language barriers and racism, but also contributed positively to New Zealand's economy and multicultural identity. Filipinos first started arriving in significant numbers in the 1990s, with students first coming in the 1960s, and have since established communities and organizations while maintaining aspects of their culture like religion and family values.

What are the positive and negative consequences to the Filipinos and New Zealand?To the Filipinos ,Language, racism, meeting new people, no winter and their only season is summer!And the to the New Zealand economy, the negative consequences are, the Government has to provide education, healthcare, housing, money, to them already when it has to rebuild Christchurch.And finally in positive consequences to New Zealand, we can interact with another culture in New Zealand and that is added to our multicultural country.

4. 3. What are the features of the Philippines?The Philippines is an archipelago made up of 7,107 islands (volcanic in origin) in the Pacific Ocean. Other bodies of water that surround the archipelago are the South China Sea on the west and north and the Celebes Sea on the south. Most of the larger islands feature mountain ranges. The highest peak is Mt. Apo (9,690 ft/2,954 m), on the island of Mindanao. The rest of the islands include coastal plains, valleys, volcanoes, forests springs (mineral and hot).

5. 4. What other ways did they interact with our society?They interact with us with different kinds of food that we don’t have. Also they have to adapt to our names and phrases for things that we have invented.

By the 2000s there were also groups in Tauranga, Wellington and Christchurch. The name of the Club Barangay Wellington incorporates a Filipino term: barangay (village) is the traditional community groupReligionOne legacy of over three centuries of Spanish rule is that the Philippines is the only predominantly Christian nation in South-East Asia. In 2001 most migrants were Roman Catholics.Social InteractionAmong Filipinos, traditional values of pakikisama (smooth social interaction), amor propio (self-esteem), utang na loob (reciprocity) and the extended family are important. The American influence is also strong – shopping at malls and sports are popular. What rugby is to New Zealanders, basketball is to Filipinos.
