06 BUSINESS CREDENTIAL
The continual recession in Europe and the stagna-
ted global market inevitably exerted an adverse im-
pact to the PRC’s textile industry. Coupled with the
persistent appreciation of the Renminbi (“RMB”)
and the increasing costs in the PRC market, the de-
mands of the downstream textile industry and the
Group’s products grew slowly during the Year.
During the Year, the Group also strived to avoid
contributing to destructive competition in the
industry by carefully controlling its production
output; expanded its sales channel to promote the
Group’s differentiated acrylic fibre products such
as anti-pilling fibres, fine denier fibres and gel fi-
bres, which also improved the Group’s gross profit
margins. For the Year under review, the average
prices of both of acrylic fibre products and acrylo-
nitrile (the major raw material for the production of
the Group’s products) in the PRC market decreased
slightly.
Nevertheless, as a result of a greater magnitude
in the decrease in average price of acrylonitrile as
compared to that of the decrease in the average pri-
ce of acrylic products, the price difference between
acrylic fibre products and acrylonitrile enlarged,
which improved the profitability of acrylic fibre ma-
nufacturers. Though the PRC carbon fibre market is
still in its primary stage of development, the Group
expects that as the production process technology
of downstream carbonization plants gradually im-
proves, the development pace of the PRC’s carbon
fibre market will accelerate.
The Group’s revenue was approximately RMB1.5
billion for the Year, representing an increase of
approximately 6% as compared to approximately
RMB1.4 billion for the previous year. The sales vo-
lume of the Group’s acrylic fibre and carbon fibre
products amounted to 94,705 tons, increased by
approximately 7% from 88,187 tons for the previous
year. The average unit selling price of acrylic fibre
products for the Year was RMB15,421 per ton,
decreased slightly by approximately 2% as compa-
red to that of the previous year.
The price differential between the average selling
prices of the Group’s acrylic fibre products and its
major raw material, acrylonitrile, was RMB 4,591
per ton for the Year, representing an increase of
approximately 16% from RMB3,959 per ton in the
previous year.
The total volume of the acrylic fibre products pro-
duced by the Group (together with its joint ventu-
re) in the Year was 188,868 tons, accounting for
about 23% of the total production volume of the
domestic acrylic fibre market in PRC.
Sales of the Group’s carbon fibre products were
506 tons for the Year (2012: 38 tons), which accoun-
ted for an insignificant part of the Group’s overall
sales volume.

Always the same question ...
“... will we need that much bandwidth?”
THE MARKET
THE MARKET WANTS BANDWIDTH DEMAND FOR
BANDWIDTH ON THE INTERNET DOUBLES EVERY 20
MONTHS.
Users enjoy new services with increasing
frequency for the sheer convenience of
it all. These services range from IPTV or
video on demand to online games or In-
ternet storage of several personnel data.
Cloud applications and software as a ser-
vice are becoming daily routines in offi-
ces and in industry because they simplify
processes. The media, trade and financial
sectors send millions of data records
around the globe every second to serve
the markets.
WHAT CAN NETWORK OPERATORS
DO TO SATISFY THIS DEMAND? HOW
CAN WE BE GUARANTEED RELIABLE
BROADBAND INFRASTRUCTURES
CAPABLE OF MEETING FUTURE NE-
EDS?
Consequently, fast network connections
are among the basic needs of the popu-
lation in many countries. The choice of
company sites increasingly depends on
the availability of data highways. In the
future we can look forward to smart cities
in which traffic, transport, energy and in-
formation will be controlled intelligently,
along with further Internet applications
such as e-health, e-learning and e-gover-
nment. The trend to the Gigabit Society
requires even more powerful and stable
networks with loss-free signal transmis-
sion.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
Fibre ConneX’s growth has been founded
on quality products, rapid response and
excellent customer service.
QUALITY
All products are manufactured in
ISO9001:2008 certified facilities and con-
form to applicable international standards.
NETWORK OPERATORS
NEED ANSWERS
These are dynamic times for network operators. They have further challenges
to meet besides just the growing demand for bandwidth. What is the correct
architecture for fibre optic networks? Has this question been answered yet?
Should the topology be P2P or P2MP? Will these networks be expanded as
underground or above-ground systems? Each decision has to be carefully
thought through.
THE MAIN ISSUE IS TO MEET THE DEMANDS OF THE FUTURE. THE EQUI-
PMENT BEING INSTALLED TODAY SHOULD WORK TROUBLE-FREE FOR
DECADES TO COME.
New technologies are entering the market all the time: hybrid technologies
such as vectoring, G.fast and DOCSIS, but also new transmission methods
such as TWDM in the next generation PON ... evolution is proceeding apace.
Which system will prove most effective? Is it better to wait or to invest now?
The technology that is selected will in any case influence the network infra-
structure. There are detailed planning questions at stake, which Fibre ConneX
can answer.
• Type of network topologies P2P or P2MP
• Packing densities / Type of connector technologies
• Reserve performance capabilities (attenuation budgets) • Scalability of
the network (invest as you grow)
• Total cost of ownership (Capex vs. Opex)
• Improvement of installation quality

NETWORK
OPERATORS
NEED ANSWERS
Companies wanting to start by rolling out a
well-conceived FTTX solution will want the
right partners by their side. Who provides
competent advice? Where can competent
workers for construction and operations be
found? Who can ensure the quality of the in-
stallation work?
Network operators also want reliable an-
swers to economic questions.
CAN THE TOTAL COST OF OWNERSHIP
BE CALCULATED IN A CLEAR- CUT WAY?
Is the investment fully scalable to match de-
mand? Can new advances be easily integra-
ted? How much time is needed to build distri-
butors and to install inhouse connections?
It is equally important to consider the issue
of operating costs. Which cabling systems
offer the highest productivity and availabi-
lity, the best subscriber management or the
lowest maintenance costs?

SOLUTIONS
COMPLETE VENDORS WITH A CONSISTENT SYSTEM
APPROACH FOR FIBRE-OPTIC TECHNOLOGY.
Fibre ConneX is a complete provider with
a consistent system approach for cop-
per and fibre-optic technology. As such,
it will accompany the network operators
into the FTTX era. Innovative and proven
cabling solutions are available for all le-
vels, from distribution centers to home or
building connections.
WE LEADS ITS PARTNERS TO SUC-
CESS WITH ITS EXPERTISE FROM
NUMEROUS CARRIER PROJECTS
AND ALL-ROUND SERVICE.
All Fibre ConneX systems are based on
modular principles. The distributor and
connection technologies have a modular
design and are perfectly compatible with
each other. That means they can be de-
ployed flexibly in accordance with the ne-
eds of the given market and site. Partners
also retain all options when selecting
network architectures, expansion strate-
gies and access models. Owing to their
modular design, the systems are readily
scalable and open to new technologies
such as up-and-coming wavelength divi-
sion multiplexing (WDM – PON). In other
words, partners invest only in what they
really need.
High availability and performance of the
networks is assured by Swiss quality, the
industry-leading Fibre ConneX standards
and advanced security and safety featu-
res. At Fibre ConneX, each part is indivi-
dually tested for all relevant parameters
before leaving the factory.
Efficient quick-assembly technology is
one of the fundamental traits of Fibre
ConneX solutions. It eliminates the need
for tools in many cases and shortens in-
stallation and service procedures by as
much as 25 %. Easy-to-install innovations
from Fibre ConneX simplify fibre and sub-
scriber management and the handling
of optical connection technology. Core
components such as splice and patch
units can be used multiple times. This
feature noticeably reduces the expense
and effort that go into learning about and
installing the equipment, while greatly
simplifying logistics.
The all-round service begins with cu-
stomer-specific adjustments and the
provision of fully pre-terminated, fac-
tory-tested units. It extends to consulting
services for network planning support
and solution evaluation. With the training
and certification of the technical person-
nel, Fibre ConneX ensures the quality of
the installation. Support services accom-
pany the network operators over the en-
tire life cycle of their FTTX installations.

COMPETITIVE SCENARIO RESEARCH Y2013
CHALLENGE
WHAT IS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE FACING THE
TELECOMMUNICATIONS INDUSTRY IN THE COMING
YEAR?
The big challenge - which also presents a
major growth opportunity for the sector
ñ is that consumers are addicted to con-
nectivity and speed. The ongoing expan-
sion of the mobile ecosystem, coupled
with demand for high-bandwidth applica-
tions and services such as video and ga-
ming, is keeping pressure on the industry
to increase the availability and quality of
broadband connectivity.
What does this mean for players in the
sector? Carriers will continue to pursue
technological advancements to handle
demand, including offloading some mobi-
le bandwidth needs to Wi-Fi, which is pro-
ving an effective complement to mobile
networks. At the same time, long-term
spectrum availability, spectrum efficien-
cy, small cells and continued backhaul
improvements are likely to be a key focus
to assure continued mobile broadband
momentum.
Another major marketplace driver is
the issue of security. This compasses a
myriad of topics, including the threat of
increased risks of hacking and malware
as the global adoption of mobile devices
continues to rise and machine-to-machi-
ne (M2M) communications gains mo-
mentum. Moreover, increasing popularity
of bring-your-own-device (BYOD) in the
workplace could exacerbate the potential
exposure to critical company data using
malware or other hacking techniques.
Reducing the vulnerability of mobile de-
vices to hacking, including embedded
anti-malware software into devices and
enhanced authentication features, will be
a key priority for device manufacturers
and wireless carriers.

  • 6. 06 BUSINESS CREDENTIAL The continual recession in Europe and the stagna- ted global market inevitably exerted an adverse im- pact to the PRC’s textile industry. Coupled with the persistent appreciation of the Renminbi (“RMB”) and the increasing costs in the PRC market, the de- mands of the downstream textile industry and the Group’s products grew slowly during the Year. During the Year, the Group also strived to avoid contributing to destructive competition in the industry by carefully controlling its production output; expanded its sales channel to promote the Group’s differentiated acrylic fibre products such as anti-pilling fibres, fine denier fibres and gel fi- bres, which also improved the Group’s gross profit margins. For the Year under review, the average prices of both of acrylic fibre products and acrylo- nitrile (the major raw material for the production of the Group’s products) in the PRC market decreased slightly. Nevertheless, as a result of a greater magnitude in the decrease in average price of acrylonitrile as compared to that of the decrease in the average pri- ce of acrylic products, the price difference between acrylic fibre products and acrylonitrile enlarged, which improved the profitability of acrylic fibre ma- nufacturers. Though the PRC carbon fibre market is still in its primary stage of development, the Group expects that as the production process technology of downstream carbonization plants gradually im- proves, the development pace of the PRC’s carbon fibre market will accelerate. The Group’s revenue was approximately RMB1.5 billion for the Year, representing an increase of approximately 6% as compared to approximately RMB1.4 billion for the previous year. The sales vo- lume of the Group’s acrylic fibre and carbon fibre products amounted to 94,705 tons, increased by approximately 7% from 88,187 tons for the previous year. The average unit selling price of acrylic fibre products for the Year was RMB15,421 per ton, decreased slightly by approximately 2% as compa- red to that of the previous year. The price differential between the average selling prices of the Group’s acrylic fibre products and its major raw material, acrylonitrile, was RMB 4,591 per ton for the Year, representing an increase of approximately 16% from RMB3,959 per ton in the previous year. The total volume of the acrylic fibre products pro- duced by the Group (together with its joint ventu- re) in the Year was 188,868 tons, accounting for about 23% of the total production volume of the domestic acrylic fibre market in PRC. Sales of the Group’s carbon fibre products were 506 tons for the Year (2012: 38 tons), which accoun- ted for an insignificant part of the Group’s overall sales volume. • 9. THE MARKET THE MARKET WANTS BANDWIDTH DEMAND FOR BANDWIDTH ON THE INTERNET DOUBLES EVERY 20 MONTHS. Users enjoy new services with increasing frequency for the sheer convenience of it all. These services range from IPTV or video on demand to online games or In- ternet storage of several personnel data. Cloud applications and software as a ser- vice are becoming daily routines in offi- ces and in industry because they simplify processes. The media, trade and financial sectors send millions of data records around the globe every second to serve the markets. WHAT CAN NETWORK OPERATORS DO TO SATISFY THIS DEMAND? HOW CAN WE BE GUARANTEED RELIABLE BROADBAND INFRASTRUCTURES CAPABLE OF MEETING FUTURE NE- EDS? Consequently, fast network connections are among the basic needs of the popu- lation in many countries. The choice of company sites increasingly depends on the availability of data highways. In the future we can look forward to smart cities in which traffic, transport, energy and in- formation will be controlled intelligently, along with further Internet applications such as e-health, e-learning and e-gover- nment. The trend to the Gigabit Society requires even more powerful and stable networks with loss-free signal transmis- sion.
  • 10. CUSTOMER SERVICE Fibre ConneX’s growth has been founded on quality products, rapid response and excellent customer service. QUALITY All products are manufactured in ISO9001:2008 certified facilities and con- form to applicable international standards. NETWORK OPERATORS NEED ANSWERS These are dynamic times for network operators. They have further challenges to meet besides just the growing demand for bandwidth. What is the correct architecture for fibre optic networks? Has this question been answered yet? Should the topology be P2P or P2MP? Will these networks be expanded as underground or above-ground systems? Each decision has to be carefully thought through. THE MAIN ISSUE IS TO MEET THE DEMANDS OF THE FUTURE. THE EQUI- PMENT BEING INSTALLED TODAY SHOULD WORK TROUBLE-FREE FOR DECADES TO COME. New technologies are entering the market all the time: hybrid technologies such as vectoring, G.fast and DOCSIS, but also new transmission methods such as TWDM in the next generation PON ... evolution is proceeding apace. Which system will prove most effective? Is it better to wait or to invest now? The technology that is selected will in any case influence the network infra- structure. There are detailed planning questions at stake, which Fibre ConneX can answer. • Type of network topologies P2P or P2MP • Packing densities / Type of connector technologies • Reserve performance capabilities (attenuation budgets) • Scalability of the network (invest as you grow) • Total cost of ownership (Capex vs. Opex) • Improvement of installation quality 1 2 10 BUSINESS CREDENTIAL

Where can competent workers for construction and operations be found? Who can ensure the quality of the in- stallation work? Network operators also want reliable an- swers to economic questions. CAN THE TOTAL COST OF OWNERSHIP BE CALCULATED IN A CLEAR- CUT WAY? Is the investment fully scalable to match de- mand? Can new advances be easily integra- ted? How much time is needed to build distri- butors and to install inhouse connections? It is equally important to consider the issue of operating costs. Which cabling systems offer the highest productivity and availabi- lity, the best subscriber management or the lowest maintenance costs? MAN HOLE We design to make things easy and simple. • 19. CHALLENGE WHAT IS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE FACING THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS INDUSTRY IN THE COMING YEAR? The big challenge - which also presents a major growth opportunity for the sector ñ is that consumers are addicted to con- nectivity and speed. The ongoing expan- sion of the mobile ecosystem, coupled with demand for high-bandwidth applica- tions and services such as video and ga- ming, is keeping pressure on the industry to increase the availability and quality of broadband connectivity. What does this mean for players in the sector? Carriers will continue to pursue technological advancements to handle demand, including offloading some mobi- le bandwidth needs to Wi-Fi, which is pro- ving an effective complement to mobile networks. At the same time, long-term spectrum availability, spectrum efficien- cy, small cells and continued backhaul improvements are likely to be a key focus to assure continued mobile broadband momentum. Another major marketplace driver is the issue of security. This compasses a myriad of topics, including the threat of increased risks of hacking and malware as the global adoption of mobile devices continues to rise and machine-to-machi- ne (M2M) communications gains mo- mentum. Moreover, increasing popularity of bring-your-own-device (BYOD) in the workplace could exacerbate the potential exposure to critical company data using malware or other hacking techniques. Reducing the vulnerability of mobile de- vices to hacking, including embedded anti-malware software into devices and enhanced authentication features, will be a key priority for device manufacturers and wireless carriers.
