Laura Gallego is a Spanish author of children's and young adult fantasy literature. She studied Spanish Philology at the University of Valencia. She began writing at age 11 and published her first novel, Finis Mundi, at age 21. Some of her most popular works are Chronicles of the Tower, Two candles for the devil, Where the Trees Sing, Wings of Fire, and The Memoirs of Idhun trilogy. She has sold over one million copies in Spain and her works have been translated into 16 languages. Currently she is working on a new trilogy called Guardians of the Citadel.

2. Laura Gallego is a Spanish author of children’s and young adult
literature, specializing in fantasy. After finishing High School she
studied Spanish Philology at the University of Valencia to become a
literature teacher.

3. She started writing at the age of 11. Soon after, she wrote her first
novel. It was called Zodiaccía. It was about a girl who travelled to a
magical island where everything was about horoscopes. It took her
three years to finish the book; it was almost three hundred pages long.
That story was never published, but after writing it she knew that she
wanted to be an author. And since then, she has not stopped writing,
dozens of novels, hundreds of stories and thousands of pages.

4. She started publishing her stories at
21 years old. She kept writing and
sending texts to publishers and
competitions. The first book she
published was Finis Mundi. It was her
14th book. She sent it to the
Steamboat Award (she had been
participating for several years now,
but had no luck) and she won the
Prize! Three years later she was given
the same award for The Legend of
the Errant King.

5. Her most popular works among young readers are
Chronicles of the Tower, Two candles for the devil,
Where the Trees Sing, Wings of Fire, The Book of
Portals and, especially, the Memoirs of Idhun
trilogy. In 2011 she received the Cervantes Chico
Prize for her work, and in 2012 she was awarded the
National Prize for Children's and Young Adult's
Literature for the novel Donde Los Árboles Cantan.
She is currently working on a new trilogy:
Guardianes de la Ciudadela.

6. She has continued writing and publishing books, and is lucky to
have a large number of readers who enjoy them. She finished her
degree and did a PhD, specializing in medieval literature and books
of chivalry; but in the end she did not become a literature
professor, as her work as a writer occupies almost all her time.

7. Currently her published work includes twenty-seven young adult
novels and some children's stories, with more than one million
copies sold in Spain and her novels have been translated into
sixteen languages, among which are English, French, German and
Japanese.

9. One night, the werewolves attack the
walls of the elf kingdom. During the
battle, two sentries, Eilai and Anthor,
discover that a group of werewolves
want to enter on one side of the
unprotected wall. Only a robust wolf-
man survives the battle and before
leaving he attacks Eilai, biting her arm.
Fortunately the sorcerer informs Anthor
that Eilai will not have side-effects, but
the baby they are going to have could
suffer them. They decide, though there’s
a risk, they will have the child.

10. The years pass and the boy, Ankris, grows up
like any normal elf, later choosing to study at
the sentinel academy. One night, he feels a
strange energy flowing inside him. It’s the
energy of the elf-wolf. Time passes and
Ankris changes. One day while walking
through the wood he sees a young elf being
attacked by wolves. Ankris helps her and
something more than friendship forms
between them.

11. But Shi-Mae discovers that Ankris is an elf-wolf and reports it to the court.
Before being condemned, Aonia, the Mistress of the Wizard School of The
Tower, invites Ankris to visit her. They condemn him to exile instead of
execution. Before leaving, his father gives him a silver dagger. It is a
symbol of his identity, An-kris of the Oaks, which shows that his parents
are of noble origin.
He is captured on human lands by a hunter. A wizard called Novan saves
Ankris, later revealing that he is a lycanthrope who hates humans. He
welcomes Ankris into his cabin and they spend some time together. One
full moon night, Ankris discovers that Novan was the ones who bit his
mother all these years ago. After killing Novan, he decides to go to the
Dead Lands.

12. One day of the full moon, he finds a girl named Ronna that forces him
to become an elf before he bites her. The next day the girl takes him
to her village and there they name him a member of the tribe for
being the heir of Fenris, the First Wolf. After learning the language of
the Wolf people, Log, the shaman of the tribe explains that Fenris
was a lycanthrope who, before leaving the Tribe, offered protection
as long as the Tribe didn’t kill any wolves.

13. Years later, Log began to envy Ankris for his powers.
One night, he killed a wolf so that Ankris would bite
him and he would become a wolf as well. Later
Ankris and Ronna found that Log was calling himself
Fenlog, another descendant of Fenris, The First.
Fenris wanted to kill Fenlog for all the damages he
had done to the Wolf Tribe. One evening of the full
moon, everyone gathered. Fenlog and Fenris
fought, but suddenly, a shower of arrows with silver
tips fell over them. The Hunter, along with many
other men, managed to kill Fenlog and his
henchmen. But Ronna and Fenris were wounded.
He woke up the next day and he knew that they had
won, but also he knew he had to leave.
At the end of the story Fenris goes to The Tower,
the Wizard School, but this is another story.

14. I would like that, when
closing the book, the reader
keeps thinking about it. The
end of a story is not about
giving answers, but about
raising questions.
