Sea turtles lay between 100-110 eggs at a time in nests dug in the sand, though only a few will survive to adulthood. They are endangered due to hunting for their meat, eggs and shells as well as habitat destruction and accidental capture in fishing gear. Sea turtles live in all oceans except the Arctic and mostly reside in the ocean, sleeping in their shells. They are vertebrates and reptiles that eat plants and worms and are preyed upon by eagles.
