Lord Of The Flies Simon Character Analysis
In the novel, Lord of the flies, written by William Golding illustrates symbolism through the life of
the boys; therefore we have simon s isolation and piggy s intelligence and jacks chaos.
Body 1 simons isolation
Simon, one of the main characters because of who he is and his feelings toward the whole thing.
He becomes isolated which is important because it shows how he feels. Simon is symbolized as
things such as depression and loneliness which is very important, in the book because there is one
point where simon says to the boys on the beach, which means that he thought about it while the
others did not think about it. He thought about the problem and the things that the boys did he
becomes the beast himself. The story states, maybe we are the beast (Golding). This shows that
simon has thought about it and is thinking about it more as he moves forward and ends up putting
on the pig to show everyone how he feels but ends up getting killed. Simon shut people out because
he was torn between doing the right thing and not doing the right thing. He understands that if he
just goes away that he won t have to be torn. Which shows that he would rather step back and think
and look then to just jump to conclusions. Simon is mature for doing what he did.
This is very important because it shows that people that you say you can trust you can t and they
stab you in the back. Simon is a very important person in the book and always will be. He

Tapestry Of Browns And Green Analysis
Personally, I felt that A Tapestry of Browns and Greens was an exceptionally written and thought
provoking essay from start to finish. I loved how immediately author, Nalini Nadkarni, Ph.D, was
able to draw parallels between her own mixed heritage as an Indian/Hindu/Brooklyn/Jewish child
growing up in the 1960s, with the unique tapestry like quality that exist with the nature and the
environment. This emotional opening paragraph managed to grab my attention right from the start
and never let go. I can also empathize with her when she mentions the fact that she never interpreted
her mixed heritage as something that made her different until someone else made that observation.
I share the same viewpoint when it comes to my having cerebral palsy

Muscular Dystrophy And Related Diseases
Muscular Dystrophy in Pediatric Patients
A muscular dystrophy is a group of diseases that is associated with progressive weakness and loss
of an individual s muscle mass. The condition causes the abnormal genes to interfere with the
production of proteins needed to form healthy muscles. There is no medical cure for muscular
dystrophy and related diseases, but strategies such as medication and therapy are used to manage
the symptoms and slow the course of the disease. There are more than 30 types of muscular
dystrophy, and the difference is based on the genes that cause it, the age when the symptoms appear
first, how quickly the disease progresses and the muscles it affects (Tecklin, 2015).
Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) and Becker ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A wider base of support along with ITB contractures is commonly associated with the disease.
Functional activities may still be conserve until the age of 6 or 7, by the age of 9 10 a rapidly
decline of functional activities is observable. On the other hand Becker muscular dystrophy is the
mildest version of the muscular conditions, individuals can maintain independent ambulation until
the age of 16. Etiology for BMD its very similar to DDM, however dystrophin production its
sufficient with good quantity and quality which will allow the breakdown to occur at slower rate
than DDM. Symptoms for BMD its usually present between the age of 5 and 15, however the onset
is variable, patients usually live until their fourth decade (Tecklin, 2015). Other clinical presentation
associated with both conditions are Cardiac, Gastrointestinal, Cognitive, and Respiratory
involvement.
Since the decline in motor activities over the course of the disease cannot be avoided, it is
important to use functional assessment scales for use in clinical follow up, establishment of
functional diagnosis and therapeutic decisions making. Several functional scales exist for the
assessment of individuals with diseases associated with neuromuscular. Subsequently, the Vignos
scale (VS) lays more focus on functional activities involving the lower limbs

The Legislative Process
The Legislative Process
The act of attempting to make a bill into a law is an arduous process with a large number of
written rules and procedures, the oldest of which date as far back as 1797, from Jefferson s
Manual (Paletz, Owen and Cook). The inspiration for the a bill can come from a variety of sources,
from the president of the United States to a personal experience of one of the members of the
House of Senate. There are any number of ways in which the aforementioned bill could fail before
becoming a law, however, there are many worthy causes that make the lengthy process a
worthwhile endeavor for the bill s sponsor.

How Different Chemicals Affect Surface Tension
The aim of my experiment was to figure out how different chemicals affect surface tension. I
chose this experiment because I have always wondered how a drop of water stays together as it
falls through the air. My independent variable was the different chemicals used. My dependant
variable was which liquid stayed on the penny best. The control in this experiment was pure water.
My hypothesis was; if water mixed with salt and water mixed with detergent is tested, then
detergent will cause the surface tensionto weaken the most. By definition, Surface tension is the
property of the surface of a liquid that allows it to resist an external force, due to the cohesive
nature of its molecules (USGS). Molecules in a drop of water cling to each other. This is why
they can stay together as they fall through the air (Wick 9). In addition, water molecules at the
surface of a liquid form stronger bonds (USGS). This is because they have no adjacent molecules
on top of them so they exert more powerful forces to molecules on and below the surface of a
liquid (USGS). For example, water striders can glide on the surface of water because their mass is
not strong enough to break the surface tension (USGS). The dependent variable in this experiment
was, which liquid stayed on the penny best. The independent variable was the different chemicals
used.
Water droplets form spheres because they are pulled by the cohesive forces of the surface layer
(USGS). A drop of water in its smallest size is a

Chain Elongation In The Escalators
For this particular project profit is not a concern, but rather the concern is to increase customer
satisfaction. This is going to be done by having predictive maintenance on the elongation of the
chain in the escalators, rather than reactive maintenance. Currently, BART is reacting to the effects
of chain elongation on escalators which causes maintenance to be rather expensive but most
importantly inconvenient for customers. BART is currently doing this because some of the
escalators are older so they do not have any automation associated with them. At this moment, when
an escalator breaks down due to chain elongation there is major downtime to repair it because it is
in need of emergency maintenance. With emergency reactive maintenance an

Legislative Issue Faced by Nursing http://www.aacn.nche.edu/Media/shortageresource.htm The
web site I found that discusses this critical issue is by the American Association of Colleges of
Nursing. (AACN). This is an outstanding website that discusses the current and projected issues
regarding the nursing shortage. The article identifies sobering figures of projected shortages up
to the year 2020. By 2010, the nursing shortage is projected to be 12%, by 2015 to be 20% and
by 2020 a frightening 29%. (AACN). If society and our political leaders do not recognize this as a

The unfortunate part is that the strategies are not well publicized and this is a negative for
nurses. We, as professionals, need to be better informed. I read as much as possible in
professional magazines, but apparently, that is not enough, as I did not know of the existence
of some of the strategies named above. Nurses who deliver patient care, who are living the
shortage, need to know what is being done to help them deliver the care they believe patients
deserve. It is likely that individual institutions do not readily inform of strategies that they are
participating in to recruit nurses. I did not know that my employer helps fund the local nursing
schools such that the nurses may choose to work at the hospital where I am employed. That is an
important piece of a puzzle, as nurses notoriously do not like to help student nurses as they slow
the process. If the staff knew that these nurses are potential colleagues, perhaps they would treat
the students with a bit more interest and compassion. In addition, the media needs to be on board
with informing of strategies in progress to help restore the health care system to one of quality as
opposed to focusing on errors. The only positive health care information I have seen on television
lately is the St. Jude Children s Hospital and the wonderful advancements and care they deliver.

The And Environmental Energy Conservation
PERSONAL STATEMENT DRAFT_081114
Growing up my dad would always say switch off the lights, save power and do not waste things,
other people need to use it those statements instilled in me an indelible dislike for wastage of any
kind and to be considerate of other people s needs like just my dad. These doctrines helped also
helped to forge my interest in recycling and environmental energy conservation especially now
as the demand for energy resources is growing at an alarming rate. Chevron PLC stated in an
article that the world population which is currently around 7 billion is projected to grow by an
additional 1 billion in the next 12 years, especially in NOECD or developing countries as
predicted by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), this growth would result in more
demand for energy resources particularly global fossil fuel consumption, clean water supply,
electricity as well as food, public health services and shelter.
Having grown up in Nigeria, a country with a population of 167 million persons and ranked as
the seventh crude oil producer in the world and the largest oil producing country in Africa, it is
ironic that about 117.8 million Nigerians rely on fuels such as animal dung, crop residues, wood,
charcoal and kerosene as sources of energy to cook and to power lanterns, an estimated 60 million
Nigerians own generators, and spend an estimated N1.56 trillion ($13.35m) annually to power them.

Bumper Harvest On The Cards
Bumper Harvest on the cards Answer1: Professor Marshall propounded that price of a commodity
is determined by its demand and supply. Market is composed of two parties that are buyers and
sellers. Thus both demand and supply curves are important for determining the price of a
commodity. Equilibrium price: The price at which quantity demanded equals quantity supplied is
called equilibrium price. Total demand: Here demand doesn t mean the amount of commodity
which people need rather effective demand that is the amount which people are willing to buy at
various prices. Total supply: it means the quantity offered for sale by producers. Thus, the supply of
wheat does not mean the actual stock of wheat; it means the amount of wheat which... Show more

While the sellers are prepared to supply wheat at P S . In this way unsatisfied buyers will
compete with each other to have the limited supply. Hence, there will be tendency the price to
rise to the level of OP. The time element: different economists have given importance to the time
element in the theory of price because supply of a commodity depends on the time allowed for
its adjustment. Supply of goods like wheat at any point of time is fixed. Thus it can be said that
it is the demand that plays an important role in the determination of the price of the commodity.
As such mentioned in the article that its growth depends upon spring. It was approximately
16mt in the last season and if the same conditions prevail then only this much amount of
production can be expected. Diagrammatically Quantity of wheat is measured on horizontal axis
that is x axis and vertical axis that is y axis. SS curve is parallel to y axis because supply cannot
be increased in short run. Moe price depends on demand. As demand increases and DD curve
shifts rightward equilibrium price rises to OP . As demand for good falls and DD curve shifts
leftwards prices fall to OP Determination of market price: it will be determined by momentary
equilibrium between demand and supply at a time. And we know that supply of good is limited by
the stock available.the price of the commodity that will prevail in the market depends upon the time
period. If sudden and once

Case 7: Gillette The Razor Wars Continues

Question 1:
Evaluate product innovation at Gillette throughout its history. Has Gillette been a victim of its own
success? Has product innovation in wet shaving market come to an end? Explain?
King C. Gillette has founded Gillette in 1901. It was one of the first great multinational
organizations and a marvel of marketing effectiveness. Gillette has set a goal for his company: To
offer consumers high quality shaving products that would satisfy basic grooming needs at a fair
price. Throughout its history Gillette has always strived to be on cutting edge of shaving

Gillette launched the new technology for Fusion in June 2010, the Gillette Fusion ProGlide and

technological advancements in shaving performance, Keeping Gillette on cutting edge for
technological advancements.
Question 2:
What do you make of the battle between Gillette and Schick? Is the battle of one upmanship good
for either company?
The war has first started around 1962 with Schick introducing the first stainless steel blade by this
decreasing Gillette s market share. Yet Gillette was lucky because Schick couldn t exploit the
niche it has created and Schick ended up in selling its blades to Gillette. Another technology was
introduced by Schick in 2003, the Quattro four bladed razor to gain market share from Gillette. The
battle of one upmanship is aggressive between Gillette and Schick and this is leading to all
technology advancements in the wet shaving industry. Gillette has always dominated the shaving
market since its founding in 1901. Currently, Gillette controls 70% of the wet shaving market.
Schick claims roughly 18%. I think Gillette must always be cautious of schick and fair competition
is always healthy for companies since it keeps them on edge with advancements to gain more

Persuasive Essay On Community Service
The options for community service are endless. After narrowing down my options, I applied to
volunteer at the Crystal Lake Public Library this past summer. Having to go in for an interview
was a new experience for me, considering how I have never applied for a job. I believe that the
exposure to the interview process did two things for me: first, it put me out of my comfort zone,
and second, it taught me invaluable lessons about applying for future jobs and programs. This is
because I am the kind of person who can get nervous easily, and I struggle to hide it sometimes.
An interview is a type of situation that I would feel nervous in; however, I was able to overcome
my fear and apply to the library anyways. Therefore, I learned what I should expect to be asked,
and I understand how I should properly respond. Once I was accepted to the library s volunteer
network, I was able to choose which department I would work for in order to serve the community.
By volunteering at the library, I improved the Youth Services department, particularly by
participating in the Adopt a Shelf program. One part of my job was to rearrange the books in the
correct order when they got disorganized. This made it easier for parents and children to find the
books, movies, and CDs they were looking for. Another task that I enjoyed was replacing the
books to their proper location from the clean up cart. It is important for books to be on the
shelves where they belong because otherwise it appears that books are not available. My favorite
part of volunteering for the library, however, was getting to help kids pick out the books they
were looking for. I remember many of the people I helped, but one of my fondest moments
occurred on one of my first days. I was working in the junior fiction department, and there was a
young girl there. She wanted to find a new series of books to read for the summer reading
program. It was special to show her the novels that I read when I was her age, especially when she
chose to start the Mother Daughter Book Club books: my favorite series in middle school. It was
moments like that that made me proud to be a part of the Crystal Lake Public Library and their
volunteer team. As a result of my work at the

John F. Kennedy s Anti Rhetoric
It s hard to know exactly when the Republican Party assumed the mantle of the stupid party.
Stupidity is not an accusation that could be hurled against such prominent early Republicans as
Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Elihu Root and Charles Evans Hughes. But by the 1950s, it
had become an established shibboleth that the eggheads were for Adlai Stevenson and the boobs for
Dwight D. Eisenhower a view endorsed by Richard Hofstadter s 1963 book Anti Intellectualism in
American Life, which contrasted Stevenson, a politician of uncommon mind and style, whose
appeal to intellectuals overshadowed anything in recent history, with Eisenhower conventional in

congratulated themselves for being smarter than the benighted Republicans. Here s the thing,
though: The Republican embrace of anti intellectualism was, to a large extent, a put on. At least
until now. Eisenhower may have played the part of an amiable duffer, but he may have been the
best prepared president we have ever had a five star general with an unparalleled knowledge of
national security affairs. When he resorted to gobbledygook in public, it was in order to
preserve his political room to maneuver. Reagan may have come across as a dumb thespian, but
he spent decades honing his views on public policy and writing his own speeches. Nixon may
have burned with resentment of Harvard men, but he turned over foreign policy and domestic
policy to two Harvard professors, Henry A. Kissinger and Daniel Patrick Moynihan, while his own
knowledge of foreign affairs was second only to Ike s. There is no evidence that Republican leaders

New York City, Brooklyn, Queens, And Staten Island Essay
New York City is made up of five boroughs, which include the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan,
Queens, and Staten Island. Within these boroughs, there are high and low income neighborhoods
that contain either high or low status organizational structures or facilities. Each division has their
own characteristics and top attractions, such as the Empire State building, Central Park, or Times
Square. As New York Citymay be known for great food and fun attractions, New York faces
infrastructure problems within each borough. New York City s infrastructure funding is limited in
lower income neighborhoods, where money needed to upkeep the city goes toward prime tourist s
areas or residents living in high status neighborhoods, such as The Upper East Side of Manhattan,
Cobble Hill, Brooklyn, and Lenox Hill, Manhattan. Moreover, abandoned buildings, poor sewage
conditions, and rocky roads and streets are examples of low income area infrastructure problems
that may hinder neighborhood growth both structurally and economically. Harlem, East Brooklyn,
and South Bronx are low income parts of New York that lack new and refined facilities, roads,
plumbing, and fundamental structures, which contribute to high crimeand arrests.
New York faces a various number of infrastructure issues, regardless of the neighborhood status

Child Beauty Pageants Good For Children
Child beauty pageants are good for children and for society. Child beauty pageants give kids a

to dress up and perform like pint size adults, complete with fake hair, spray tans, full makeup,
ornate costumes and even artificial teeth (known as flippers) (Healy). Maybe because of this
reason, children tend to be more motivate; therefore, children like to dress up and some children
like to dress up like adults. This is a good opportunity for children to feel how it is to dress like an

Child beauty pageants help children be in shape because in order to fit in any costume, the

Designing The Efficient Scheduling Methods For Real Time...
Abstract In this research we are presenting the problem of designing the efficient scheduling
methods for real time systems. The real time scheduling problem is nothing but the scheduling
problem in which QoS requirements should be satisfied along with task scheduling. The main
objective of scheduling problem is designing the time and QoS efficient scheduling algorithm to
schedule tasks optimally those are waiting to be served. We presented the literature study on
different existing scheduling policies with its limitations. Therefore in this research, we are
presenting new Dynamic Multilevel Priority (DMP) method of scheduling policy for RTS. As
the name indicates, this method works dynamically and as per the requirement of task
scheduling. DMP algorithm is designed with three different queues of tasks/demands scheduling
based on nature of tasks. In first queue, security/urgency related demands should be proceed with
highest priority, in second queue with second highest priority, regular demands should be
proceed, while last queue is used to serve local non real time demands. In first queue, real time
packets processed with highest priority. Thus this scheduling policy does not hold any demand
for longer waiting period and hence improves the overall QoS performance of RTSs. The
practical evaluation of proposed methodology is done by using UPPAAL tool. We have
considered train gate example for evaluation of proposed scheduling policy. Keyword: Real Time

Anabolic Steroid Use in Sports Summary
Anabolic Steroid use in Sports The competitive drive to win at all cost is fierce among athletes.
Winning at all cost often includes using one of many performance enhancing drugs such as anabolic
steroids. Many athletes use performance enhancing drugs, like steroids, to achieve higher goals and
set higher records than other drug free successful athletes. Although athletes are performing at
higher levels when using such drugs, what is the cost? Finally anabolic steroids should remain
banned from sports because their use results in many harmful side effects; because their use violates
sports regulations, and because their use can cause death. Anabolic steroids should remain banned
from sports because of the many harmful... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another reason is the potential side effect caused by the use of anabolic steroids. Since the use
of steroids has become a trend among athletes, the number of deaths among them has risen. A lot
of these deaths are due to suicides and violent behavior as a result of the effect of these anabolic
androgenic steroids on mood. A number of recent, well publicized deaths of American football
players have drawn attention to the potential dangers of sports supplements and the raised
important public health concerns about the unrestricted availability of these products that are
exempt from U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulation (Haller, 2002). Performance
enhancing drugs are not only dangerous and damaging; they are potentially deadly. Between
1985 and 1995, at least 121 US athletes collapsed and died during or directly after a training
session or game; most often because they had hypertrophic cardiomyopathy or heart
malformations (Maron, 1996). Most of the athletes that have collapsed and died during or directly
after training session or game tested positive for some type of performance enhancing drug. From

Balanced Scorecard and Assessment Activity Essay
BSBMGT515A: Manage Operational Plan Timothy Coy 13/07/2012 Section 1 Assessment
activity 1 In your own words, describe the purpose of the operational plan and its relationship to
the strategic plan. The purpose of the operational plan is to focus on shorter term objectives
usually within 1 up to 3 years. For plans of 2 to 3 years, a more detailed breakdown of shorter
timeframes should be included within the body of the document. An operational plan provides
detailed information on planning, resource, implementation and funding for projects normally
developed from the strategic plan. An operational plan should contain indicators to measure

Assessment activity 3 In your own words, explain why key performance indicators (KPIs) are
an important part of the operational planning process. KPIs can be broken down by acronym; by
focusing on the importance of each component of a Key Performance Indicator it will become
apparent of the role the KPI plays in the operational plan. Key when it is of fundamental
importance in gaining competitive advantage and is a make or break component in the success
or failure of the plan. An example only by measuring the shelf space gained by a drinks
manufacturer they can measure the growth achieved this can be measured on a short term basis
indicating success or failure over the plan period. Another example for a gaol, it may be to reduce
the amount of lockdowns or assaults over the plan periods this can then provide information in
relation to the implementation of absence policies for staff and intervention programs for inmates
to achieve predetermined benchmarks. Relating to Performance when it can be clearly measured,
quantified and easily influenced by the organisation or governing body. Indicator if it provides
leading information on future performance. It is impossible to establish a KPI without a clear
understanding of what is possible so it must be possible to set upper and lower limits of the KPI

Johnathan Edwards Eucharist
The article Johnathan Edwards and the Closing of the Table is based upon Edwards view of the
practice of the Eucharist (Holy Communion). Crisp argues within hist article that Johnathan
Edwards beliefs should be studied and offer a challenge to contemporary theologians to think about
these matters more organically (Crisp, 49). Crisp gives an analysis of Johnathan Edwards beliefs on
communion, the process, and the requirements to obtain communion. He states that Edwards
believed that there had to be a confession of faith included with the communion service, and that
only when they gave an outward piece of evidence that they were converted from their sins that they
should and could obtain communion (Crisp, 55).
He explains the Johnathan Edwards view of the sacrament was in fact based on his personal
experiences and shifted through time. He argues with Edwards that the person who does not
believe in God should not be allowed to attend the Lord s Supper (Crisp, 63). Yet, Edward s also
believed that a person should live a pious life pleasing to God (Crisp, 57).
Crisp tends to agree with Edwards and ends his essay urging the reader to reconsider their views on
the sacrament of Holy Communion. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Edwards did not promote closed communion he promoted close communion. Edwards
believed that a person should believe like their brothers and sisters going to communion, while also
confessing their belief in the one true God. Edwards would not allow a person of unbelief to attend

Communion from going. While the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod often tends to push for

The Assassination of Archduke Ferdinand Franz at Sarajevo
It was a peaceful day at Sarajevo. The town had gathered to see the parade, but in the end,
witnessed a crime. Archduke Franz and his wife Duchess Sophie were driving through Sarajevo
and expected to arrive peacefully, but Gavrilo Princip had an assassination in mind for the family.
The assassination of Duke Franz Ferdinand was the most significant assassination of the twentieth
century. The series of unfortunate events, the lives of the killer and the killed, the coincidence and
the troubles that ensued because of this event were key to the beginning of World War I
.
Franz Ferdinand was traveling to Sarajevo in June 1914 to inspect the imperial armed forces in
Bonzia and Herzgovina. As they were cruising through the town in an open car, Serbian
nationalist Nedjelko Cabrinovic threw a bomb at their vehicle. The bomb rolled off of the back
their vehicle and injured a few officers and a few civilian. The car sped off and quickly made it
to a safe place. Later in the day, Duke Franz Ferdinand went to visit the people injured. As they
turned down the street not expecting anything, BANG, the royalty had been shot. The
assassination that occurred caused two world wars, eighty thousand deaths, the Rise of Hitler.
This may not have happened if Princip had not have been hungry for a sandwich. Gavrilo looks
up from his lunch and notices his opportunity for all the fame and glory he could get from his
terrorist group, the Black Hand. He saw Franz Ferdinand just a few

The Controversy Of Dog Parks
I am a proponent of dog parks. It is my belief that these parks are a wonderful addition to any
community. There are many benefits to having such parks, not just for the animals, but for us as
well. Dogs are social creatures. They need interaction with other dogs. If they do not get the
neccessary socialization, they can become hostile toward other animals, as well as unruly around
people. As we humans need to interact with other humans, these parks are a great place for us
bipeds to socialize and make friends as well. It doesnt take a lot of space to have a dogpark. Most
cities already have some peice of ground that is not being used. The dogs just need a little bit of
room to run around without the restraint of a leash.

What Price Victory? Climbing Mount Everest can endanger climbers lives because risks include,
death, permanent injuries, and mental anguish which are some of the prices climbers pay to
accomplish their victory. In May 1996 eight climbers lost their lives on a single day, May 10, 1996

a single day. In 1980 and 2002, 91 climbers have died attempting to climb Mount Everest. This just

Frostbit is a really big concern when climbing Mount Everest and some are really severe. Here
are some people that have permanent injuries. Beck Weathers had severe frostbite and was left for
dead three times. The frostbite took off a little bit of his arm, fingers, and face. Makalu Gau was
airlifted off the mountain and had frostbite to his hands and feet. Makalu Gaus injuries were a lot
more serious than Beck weathers injuries.
Having mental anguish is something you don t wanna have when climbing Mount Everest. Mental
anguish is when you have certain types of suffering that may include distress, anxiety, and
depression. Jon Krakauer had mental anguish after reaching the summit of Mount Everest. He
had not slept for fifty seven hours and was reeling from brain altering effects of oxygen

The Pros And Cons Of Radio Is A Sleeping Giant
Radio Is A Sleeping Giant
If success has many fathers, then radio is one of the greatest successes. Perhaps one simple way to
sort out this parentage is to place those who have been credited for fathering radio into groups.
Beholding the unmatchable technology of transmitting receiving electric waves wirelessly by Hertz
during late 1880 s, today is recognized as the fundamental building block of radio.
There are hundreds, if not thousands, of uses of radio spectrum technology. Everything from baby
monitoring broadcasting to radar radio beacons are applications of radio. Albert Einstein, when
asked in 1938, to explain radio, is widely reported to have said:
You see, wire telegraph is a kind of a very, very long cat.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

With the time competition rises in market. Television, not directly but indirectly act as a villain
is the biggest obstacle in dominating radio through it s audio visual appeal. Lack of visual appeal
and the stress to visualize pictures is a major drawback in the success of radio. So, to sustain in
this globalized world, radio has to fight hard enough with creativity innovation as it s major tools.
World airwaves are abuzz. Nations are abundant with numerous radio stations radio channels. And
the continuous add on leaves target audience in the state of dilemma to stick with one. This
ultimately leads to drop of rating points. As options multiplied, listeners had no loyalty. With five
choices from day one, there will be very little loyalty. Whosoever is able to offer great
entertainment at the given day apart, the audience will be with him.
The other innovating point could be the big breakthroughs that does nt come from snatching shares
from other programs but by creating fresh audiences. So, everybody cannot remain a music station.
They ll have to innovate. A big breakthrough may come from the non music format where target has

How My Lesson Plan Incorporates Children s Stories
Administrators and teachers need to recognize that not every student will find English interesting or
applicable. Children s books address this problem by combining relatability, students interests as
well as connections to the text, and functionality, the ability for it to be used to fulfill standards.
The books offer a unique medium where everyone has an opinion or experience that connects in a
significant way to them. The relatability comes from the stories prevalence in culture. Up to this
point, however, we have failed as an institution to implement these stories as a prominent focal
point in classroom lessons. The lessonI am proposing is an attempt to fix this oversight. This paper
will explain how my lesson plan incorporates... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yet, teachers are also using books students have no exposure to beforehand. Teachers must find a
way to get students to connect to the story, form complex ideas about the story s meaning, and
show them how to prove these ideas; A difficult task to complete with books that take weeks to
read. There is a need, therefore, to limit the quantity of tasks a teacher needs to complete to teach
students how to interpret the text. The lesson uses children s books to correct the problem by
having relatability established beforehand and, in many cases, getting students to interact with the
material in a critical way that is meaningful for them. Numerous studies have shown that using
materials that students relate to and care about increases retention and speeds up initial learning.
Connections are rarely formed, however, when students are forced to quickly and artificially
connect with books that they have not chosen because they are interested in it, but because
someone is making them read the story. Children s books get around this by offering an interesting
multi dimensional forum where students already have personal experiences from popular culture
references to the stories and their own concerns, ranging from gender roles to morality, developed
slowly over time rather than demanded immediately. Most importantly, because children s stories
were a part of students childhood and allowed them to naturally form new ideas and impressions

Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic is an autobiography written by Alison Bechdel. The graphic
novel takes its readers through Alison Bechdel s childhood using engaging diction and detailed

It is no secret that when Alison Bechdel was a child, homosexuality was not exactly met with
open arms. Due to the unpleasant views many heterosexuals had in regards to homosexuality,
Alison Bechdel was at first quite cautious when it came to being open about her newfound sexual
orientation; however, she eventually opened herself up to her family, friends, and the world about
who she is and did not let the political prejudices of others stop her. This is evident when Bechdel
writes, It was in that tremulous state that I determined to tell my parents. Keeping it from them
had started to seem ludicrous anyway (76). Here, Bechdel decides to come out to her parents,
deciding that it was absurd not to tell them. Evidently, the prejudices of society could not keep
Alison Bechdel down, and this resulted in her personality being shaped by the courage of being
oneself, which is hardly an easy thing to

To what extent can developmental dyslexia be explained by...
Dyslexia literally translated from Greek as inadequate words or language is a learning disability
characterised by problems with reading, writing, spelling and speaking. The most common
definition of dyslexia is the discrepancy definition, which suggests that dyslexics are those whose
reading ability is below average for their age group, or IQ. The first case of dyslexiawas reported in
1896 by Dr. Pringle Morgan, who described an intelligent 14 year old boy who had an inability to
read, as suffering from as Pringle Morgan believed word blindness resulting from deficiencies in
visual processing. Since Pringle Morgan s initial report, there have been many other explanations of
dyslexia. This essay will attempt to evaluate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gallagher, Frith and Snowling (submitted) demonstrated that 4 year old children from families
with a first degree relative suffering from dyslexia performed worse on tests of language and
speech processing, compared to children from non dyslexic families. This study supports the
phonological deficit hypothesis as it suggests that dyslexic children show early deficiencies in
speech production. Although the role of heritability is important to consider, due to the real
world implications it has of helping to identify at risk children who are more likely to develop
dyslexia, it cannot explain why there is only a 50 per cent rate of heritability for dyslexia. There
has also been very little research into the heritability of either deficits in visual processing, or
cerebellar abnormality.
Despite the support for the phonological deficit hypothesis, one of the main criticisms of the theory
is that it fails to acknowledge possible deficits in visual processing which may cause dyslexia. The
visual magnocellular deficit hypothesis (Stein, 2000) suggests that dyslexia may be caused by
deficiencies within visual processing; specifically within the magnocellular system, which is
responsible among other things for timing visual events when reading (Stein, 2001). Therefore, if
our eyes wander whilst reading, the magnocellular is responsible for bringing our focus back on
target. In dyslexics, it is suggested that

A tiger jumping through a ring of fire. An elephant standing on his head. Classic circus animal

astounding acts. What if I told you that Nala the tiger is starved, beaten, tortured into submission?
What if I told you that every night, Freddy the elephant is chained in a metal cage, his sanity
slipping into the darkness? Would you be laughing then?
Good morning parents and teachers and welcome to the 2017 School Ethics Forum. Today I will
focus on two compelling ethical reason why the horrific treatment of animals in circuses is morally
repulsive. One, circus animals suffer fatal injuries during training. Two, the unnatural restrictions of
circus life have a devastating impact on the animals mental health.
Firstly, the fatal injuries inflicted on animals in circuses is a direct violation of the ethical
principle of harm. Starvation, whips, muzzles, bull hooks, electric pods. These torture devices
favoured by circus animal trainers inflict pain and instill terror in innocent animals until they
unquestioningly obey every single command. Simple and effective, and cruel, evil and sadistic.
How can a trainer listen to harrowing screams of excruciating pain and continue to whip the
animal again and again? What kind of heartless monster can watch the soul, the very life drain
from a living being and not stop? At every show, Nala the tiger leaps through a ring of fire. Tigers

Health Emergency Of International Concern Essay
The earth as a whole is pretty stable; lives on earth remain relatively safe, growing and increasing
in population every day. Diseases and sickness comes to play now and then, but, for the most
part, affect the poor and undeveloped countries most heavy; developed countries like the U.S.A.
have solutions and vaccine for diseases and thus fear of sickness do not arise often. However, when
they do, it is can become a pandemic, a massive widespread of hazardous diseasethat potentially
threatens the human population. To prevent epidemics, countries formed the World Health
Organization (WHO) to create the Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) to
help announce an event of an extreme health hazard that spread (or is spreading) internationally
and need international coalition to cure or resolve. There are multiple phrases to pandemic
before the PHEIC happens. To explore the phases of a pandemic and when a PHEIC occur, I
carried out simulation through a game called Pandemic II to evaluate the phases and the reaction
of the world and WHO. Before talking about the simulation, there needs to be an understanding of
the phases of a pandemic: Interpandemic phase, Alert phases, Pandemic phase, Transition phase.
Each phase carries a special role in how the world react to solve a pandemic. The Interpandemic
phase is more of a cautionary phase; nothing is happening during this phase and life goes on
normally. However, countries should be on the lookout of potential arising

Self Observation Of A Self
Throughout my self observation, I felt the need to start with a baseline of who I am. Being
raised in the south I learned to respect myself and others, but sometimes people are just right
down obnoxious. Also, I hold myself to high standards because there s no reason why I cannot
make my goals a reality if I give it my all. This is known as Self Concept: The relatively stable set
of perceptions you hold of yourself. (Page 63) For example, in my observationI notice my patience
level is very thin for people who do not have respect for other s education. There s one girl in
particular yesterday, who texted the whole class, which my nursing class is from 8:30am to
2pm. Therefore, as I m trying to listen and highlight in my book, only thing I hear is the sound
of her long nails tapping on her keyboard or her phone vibrating. Than during break she wants to
ask me for the notes, because the teacher was moving too fast. Since this is still the first couple
of weeks of school, I try to be a little more understanding, but I will not do someone s work just
for them not to pay attention. Therefore today, when the test came around I had studied my butt
off and scored very well. But for the girl that sits next to me, she complained that the test was too
hard and how we didn t have the appropriate information to study for the test. In that moment, I
found myself comparing our differences, I work hard for my grades. I study and work my butt off
then there s those people that don t do anything in class but are the first ones to complain. The book
recognized this as Social Comparison: Evaluating ourselves in terms of how we compare with
others. (Page 66) Throughout the rest of my day, I noticed I compare myself to a lot of different
people without even noticing. Like when I was driving home I saw all these people texting and
driving, and I just could not help thinking like what the heck, I can t even look to the side without
going into the other line so how in the world are they texting! I do not compare myself to other to
prove whose better but I believe it just natural to compare others to yourself.
While at home, I observe the unreserved self more than while am at school where I trend to be a
little reserved. I

I really hold dear to me. To that measure, when I entered middle school, I would sometimes
convince my two male siblings to follow me to my little sister s school to pick her up. Back
when my grandma was alive, she would always tell us to stick together, that s what I told my
siblings, they took my word for it, and trailed behind me following me to the destination, however
it wasn t that long of a journey just a few blocks away from our school. It really didn t matter
about the location; as a leader, sticking together and not leaving anyone behind is something that I
do best, if that is not leading then who am I.
I have always admired leaders that dedicate their lives to making positive changes in our world.
Dr. Martin Luther King with his I have a dream speech and Harriet Tubman, who was a slave
used her last bit of energy to help other to freedom, through my eyes these people were true heroes.

My Sport Is Swimming
A sport I like the most is currently swimming. I don t really know why I like it, but I enjoy the
sport. I always liked water and I really enjoyed spending my time playing in the bath when I was
a kid. I always liked to spend my time in the water, when the weather was capable. But I started
with more В«professionalВ» practices when I was ten years old, and that is a little late compared
to usual age you start your sport activities.
Swimming is often an invidual sport, but it can also be team sport as well. The sport itself is
about to get yourself through the water as fast as you can. The time, of course, is not so important
if you are not a professional swimmer. In swimming you have four different styles, which you use to
get yourself further. The styles are: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle. Freestyle has
been invented first, and is the most popular and effective way of swimming. As other styles were
invented over the time, butterfly was the last style to be officially accepted as the one of them.
Butterfly itself, is a fixed version of breaststroke, which is calmer than the new version of the style.

False Memory In Elizabeth Loftus
Forgetting Paper
Anthony J. Hebdo
Ohio Christian University
May 19, 2018
Forgetting Paper
Elizabeth Loftus is a cognitive psychologist who studies memory. More specifically she studies
false memories and how memories can be changed by things we are told. Facts, ideas, suggestions
and other post event information can modify our memories. In the video, Loftus opens with a story
about a man named Steve Titus. He was a convicted of a crime he didn t commit. The victim that
identified him first told the police that Steve Titus s picture looked closest to the perpetrator. Later,
during the trial the same person identified him with absolute certainty. How is this possible? False
memories.
The video goes on to explain that Steve Titus s case is not the only case where someone was
convicted because of false memories. In the United States, there have been about 300 cases where
innocent people have been convicted of crimes they didn t commit. Of those cases about 225 are
due to faulty memory, faulty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The book states, your memory is only as good as your last memory. The fewer times you use it, the
more unchanged it is (Myers Dewall, 2014). This means that to some degree all memory is false.
When continuously exposed to misinformation it is called the misinformation effect. The
misinformation effect is when a memory has been corrupted by misleading information (Myers
Dewall, 2014). When exposed to misleading information, we tend to misremember. Hearing a vivid
retelling of a story or event could implant false memories. Misinformation and source amnesia
happen without our awareness. Because of this it is hard for people to scrutinize false memories
from the real memories. For example, as adults some often tell stories of their childhoods. They
might not actually remember everything that happed so they fill in the blanks. By filling in these
blanks the more they tell the story the more the filled in parts become false

Robert Nozick s Account Of Property Rights
When looking at property distribution it is easy to come to the conclusion that Robert Nozick s
libertarian account of property rights is the most reasonable theory. Nozick s view is one that can
be easily defended and there are plenty of examples to support the claims he makes. By utilizing
Nozick s theory, property distributioncan be understood and improved on a grand scale. Before I
am able to support these claims, it is important for the reader to truly understand key aspects of his
theory. After describing the most important parts of his theory I will offer examples and reasons
that offer support to his theory. There are also certain counterarguments against his views that I will
address later in this paper to show these counterarguments... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

When looking at these counterarguments individually it is easy to dismiss these disagreements.
Some believe that the vast unequal distribution in United States can be used as an example of what
is wrong with Nozick s theory, but this is simply not valid. Although there are definitely issues with
the wealth distribution in the United States, many of those problems are addressed in Nozick s
theory. One cannot simply look at the current state of wealth distribution and ignore the history
behind the problems. A majority of the current unequal distribution is due to a long history of
unjust practices in business related to acquisition and transfer. Using Nozick s theory of property
distribution these problems become obsolete. Nozick s theory includes rules that need to be
followed, which prevent the unjust transfer of goods by using coercive measures. By following
this rule, we immediately avoid the wealth gained by people who use unjust practices to gain their
wealth. People might also point to the unequal distribution experienced by different racial groups
as evidence against Nozick s theory. This argument can also be discredited using Nozick s third
and final rule, which declares that problems caused by past injustices need to rectified. This rule
would immediately help fix issues with unequal distribution of wealth between whites and
minorities. Throughout history minorities have been handicapped by problems with equality
causing them to essentially fall behind economically. If these injustices were rectified financially,
the playing field would become substantially more

Analysis Of Arthur Miller s The Crucible
Movie paper analysis of The crucible The circumstance brought upon a person can change them
greatly. The Crucible edited and rewritten by Arthur Miller, is a movie which takes place in
Salem, Massachusetts in 1692. The leading actors are Daniel Day Lewis as Proctor, Winona
Ryder as Abigail, Paul Scofield as Judge Danforth, Joan Allen as Elizabeth, Bruce Davison as
Parris, and Rob Campbell as Hale. It was directed by Nicholas Hytner and was Based on the
witch hunt which surrounded Massachusetts history. the Crucible starts with a group of young
women sneaking away from their heavily repressed puritan society to engage in some daring
antics for the fun of it. When they get caught in the act, they try to escape punishment by accusing
others of possessing them in the name of the devil. when accusations began piling up, the accused
persons devolved the blame onto others after they had confessed their sins. Things take a turn for
the worst when the religious authority takes hold of the case and began setting up trials for heresy
against those who were accused. In its adoption of the Salem witch hunt trial, the crucible is a
grandiose film filled with powerful emotions brought on by fear, religious zealotry and passion. It
is indeed hundred percent credible and can be used to teach history for generations to come. Arthur
Miller uses this historical information as the basis for his movie. He employs the etymology of
modern seventeenth century religious practice, to

Premillennialist Belief In Rapture
The fact that there exist various narratives concerning the topic of apocalypse invites the notion
that there is a great number of people desiring the end of the world. Why would somebody be
desirous of terminating the world s existence? Despite the fact that the end of the world has a dark,
uncanny, irredeemably, and desperate tone to it, one has to consider its consequences. Therefore,
the evangelical protestantism belief in the rapture offers a solution to the otherwise unsatisfactory
or even nonexistent future. Dispensational premillennialists think of themselves as being
designated to spread the idea of rapture; which conveys that Christ will come to earth in order to
take the true believers to heaven. True believers are worthy of this... Show more content on

The rapture in this case is a synonym for escape; an escape from a world true believers are
undeservingly trapped in. The question that emerges while analyzing rapture is whether true
believers are utterly freed from desires in heaven. Humans are determined to desire something and
therefore it appears unlikely that after being taken to heaven, these desires completely vanish.
Another reason for apocalyptic desire in terms of the rapture is hope for a better life. People that
feel incomplete, that cannot bear competition, that are harrassed or even people that are alone may
desire to be taken away from a miserable place. God s existence and his presence in heaven would
save them. Faith and hope motivate discontented people to cope with everyday life. Furthermore
Crawford Gribben explains that: [...] dispensational premillennialism appealed to those evangelicals
dissatisfied with the theological prevarications of mainstream Protestantism, as well as those, [...],
whose disappointment with the possibilities of mission work was both a cause and a consequence
of their increasingly pessimistic millennial point of view. (Gribben 5) The irony of his statement
nevertheless is that in terms of a pessimistic millennial point of

Philos, Eros, Agape Love in Religion Essay
Philia, eros, and agape are three different Greek terms for the word. These three terms explain the
different types of love a human being can acquire. Philia is a love of friendship, which is
grounded in commonality. However, eros is a kind of love that seeks something from the other
person or thing. Lastly, agape is the lovethat wills the good of the other and is completely self
giving. The meanings of these Greek terminologies, philia, eros, and agape, allow us to better
understand and discuss our relationship with God and human fulfillment. In order to find human
fulfillment, one must find God of JesusChrist as well. Erotic loving is our desire for this fulfillment,
which can be seen through eros. Human nature can be simply defined... Show more content on

Sartre attested that the human being is a useless passion due to our insatiable desires. Markedly,
human beings desire to retain the infinite and that need is simply impossible. For the search for
the unlimited is tiresome and unappeasable. Conversely, there is an alternate way of looking at
eros. In order to have hope, God has to appear to human life as not a receding horizon but an
absolute savior. Human beings long for the truth and due to the constraints of science and history,
Jesus is seen in an alternate way because he is no longer limited by space or time. In this case,
Karl Rahner and Saint Augustine both agree that God always initiates the relationship with human
life. Namely, they asserted that we are constantly drawn to God and God is not drawn to us.
Because of this, we have the option of forming a better relationship with God. Rahner said that
God dispenses his grace to all human beings of every religion in and God is continually accepting.
Chiefly, it is not God s choice to accept or deny us, for that is not his matter
. Anthony De
Mello describes another explanation of human fulfillment to us. He explains to us that in order to
have human fulfillment, we must detach ourselves from our worldly attachments. As human
beings, we allow ourselves to believe that we cannot be happy without a certain thing or person in
our life. Thus, that is not

Younger Generation Movement
From 1946 1964 there was a sudden growth in population known as the baby boomers. There
was a rise of the younger generation that skyrocketed and made a large population of the United
States. Tom Hayden and Students For a Democratic Society from The Movements of The New
Left: A Brief History With Documents and Young Americans For Freedom from The Rise of
Conservatism in America have many similarities and differences. Both articles aim to get the
voices from the younger generation (at the time) to stand up for their rights and beliefs. They were
going to be the change in the generation to come. They were in it together, but from the two
articles the perspectives were different. Both groups were looking for their voices to be heard and

This was written in 1962, two years after The Sharon Statement was written. The Port Huron
Statement was a rallying cry from The Students for The Democratic Society. Directly from The Port

modest comfort, housed now in universities, looking uncomfortable to the world we inherit. To

Cross Sectional Study Psychology
As a college student, I know first hand the importance of a good night s sleep. However, due to
homework, midterms, and extracurriculars, a nap has become a rare luxury. This is the case for
university students across the globe, and sleep disorders have become real a health concern. By
conducting a cross sectional study, psychologists at the Saint Joseph University in Lebanon
investigated sleep disordersand examined the relationship between sleep disorders and anxiety. In
the form of a cross sectional observational study, the researchers gave four surveys to 462 students
at the Saint Joseph University. The four questionnaires regarded the following: InsomniaSeverity

Cross sectional studies are cost effective and are easy to conduct alongside a survey. This
approach was also a good choice because time was not a factor in this study. However, if the
researchers didn t have access to data concerning insomnia and anxiety in different age groups,
then surveys for various age groups would have to be conducted by the researchers. The only other
option would be a longitudinal study. My only criticism of this study is that there were multiple
surveys regarding sleep, but only one survey regarding anxiety. I think a more detailed assessment
of anxiety in the student body would paint a clearer picture of the link between anxiety and

Simon Sacrifice In Lord Of The Flies Essay
Sacrifice of the Innocent
At the end of chapter nine in The Lord of the Flies, William Golding utilizes figurative language
to establish Simon as a Jesus figure, who dies and becomes released from his suffering. After
Simon s realization that what the boys believe is the beast is instead a dead man with a blue
parachute, he returns to the other boys to tell them that the beast they imagine on the island is
fictitious. During a stormy night, the boys create a barbaric circle where they repetitively dictate a
chant in order to summon the beast so that they have the opportunity to kill it. Because they
mistake Simon as a beast as he attempts to tell them of his discovery of the dead man, Simon is
forcefully pulled into the center of the boys ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Golding associates Simon with goodness and gives him an angelic demeanor, to the extent that
even the environment Simon spends his last moments on land has a phosphorescent aura and pearls
covered the rocks around him, much like how heaven is depicted in the Bible. Golding purposefully
amplifies the religious facets of Simon s death, because the sins, or stains, seep from [Simon s]
broken body... , as well as the line of his cheek [silvers] and the turn of his shoulders [becomes]
sculptured marble (154). Simon, like the statue of Jesus, is in a way forming into a silver, tone
like figure, in order to somehow preserve the memory of his innocent suffering. His body lifts
and opens as the sun shines upon him, and morphs into almost a duplicate of Jesus with his arms
out in a cross like position. Around his head many strange attendant creatures (154), or flies, busy
themselves and form a sort of halo, much like a halo on the heads of angels. The tide is much
calmer than it has been since the brutal killing of Simon, and the deep ocean imbibes him, as well
as somewhere over the darkened curve of the world the sun and moon [are] pulling, and the film of
water on the earth planet [is] held, bulging slightly ...

Repercussions Of Children In A Motherless Home
We have heard of children who are raised without a father in the home, but I want to bring attention
to another, more rare issue, children being raised without a mother in the home.
A letter to the editor, published in The New York Times, on May 1, 1994, states, That in 1988, the
last year for which the Social Security Administration collected data showing that 588,000 children
under the age of 18 had lost their mothers to death a figure that doesn t even begin to include those
families where mothers are absent due to divorce, abandonment, alcoholism, mental impairment and
imprisonment (NY Times).
No matter the many reasons a child can be motherless, the effects can be life changing. Beth Azar
with the American Psychological Association says that, Children without mothers in the household
can have damaging effect including but not limited to insecurities, angst, doubt and hesitance about
the world around them. Insecure attachments can negatively impact children psychologically and
socially throughout all stages of development and into adulthood (www.refrence.com social science
and psychology).
What exactly are some of the repercussions of child in a motherless home? A motherless child can
be less likely to develop bonds with other people than the fatherless child. The child can have
increased anxiety. Children who come from a motherless home can feel deserted and mourn the
loss of their mom or the unknown, and are at a higher risk of isolation with kids who

Michelle Obama Biography
Michelle Obama was born as Michelle La Vaughn Robinson on January 17, 1964, in Chicago,
Illinois. She was the 44th first lady of the United States and wife of US president Barack Obama.
Michelle grew up in a small bungalow on Chicago s South Side. Her father, Fraser Robinson, was
a city pump operator and a Democratic district captain. Her mother, Marian Robinson, was a
secretary but later stayed home looking after Michelle and her older brother, Craig. They were a
perfect and warm family since normally they prefer sharing meals, reading and playing games

Craig and Michelle, almost 2 years apart in age, were often mistaken for twins since the siblings
share some similar looks. Michelle as well as Craig were raised in accordance with education and
had learned to read at home by the age of four. That s why, both of them skipped the second

  • 2. Lord Of The Flies Simon Character Analysis In the novel, Lord of the flies, written by William Golding illustrates symbolism through the life of the boys; therefore we have simon s isolation and piggy s intelligence and jacks chaos. Body 1 simons isolation Simon, one of the main characters because of who he is and his feelings toward the whole thing. He becomes isolated which is important because it shows how he feels. Simon is symbolized as things such as depression and loneliness which is very important, in the book because there is one point where simon says to the boys on the beach, which means that he thought about it while the others did not think about it. He thought about the problem and the things that the boys did he becomes the beast himself. The story states, maybe we are the beast (Golding). This shows that simon has thought about it and is thinking about it more as he moves forward and ends up putting on the pig to show everyone how he feels but ends up getting killed. Simon shut people out because he was torn between doing the right thing and not doing the right thing. He understands that if he just goes away that he won t have to be torn. Which shows that he would rather step back and think and look then to just jump to conclusions. Simon is mature for doing what he did. This is very important because it shows that people that you say you can trust you can t and they stab you in the back. Simon is a very important person in the book and always will be. He ... I loved how immediately author, Nalini Nadkarni, Ph.D, was able to draw parallels between her own mixed heritage as an Indian/Hindu/Brooklyn/Jewish child growing up in the 1960s, with the unique tapestry like quality that exist with the nature and the environment. This emotional opening paragraph managed to grab my attention right from the start and never let go. I can also empathize with her when she mentions the fact that she never interpreted her mixed heritage as something that made her different until someone else made that observation. • 4. Muscular Dystrophy And Related Diseases Muscular Dystrophy in Pediatric Patients A muscular dystrophy is a group of diseases that is associated with progressive weakness and loss of an individual s muscle mass. The condition causes the abnormal genes to interfere with the production of proteins needed to form healthy muscles. There is no medical cure for muscular dystrophy and related diseases, but strategies such as medication and therapy are used to manage the symptoms and slow the course of the disease. There are more than 30 types of muscular dystrophy, and the difference is based on the genes that cause it, the age when the symptoms appear first, how quickly the disease progresses and the muscles it affects (Tecklin, 2015). Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) and Becker ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A wider base of support along with ITB contractures is commonly associated with the disease. On the other hand Becker muscular dystrophy is the mildest version of the muscular conditions, individuals can maintain independent ambulation until the age of 16. Etiology for BMD its very similar to DDM, however dystrophin production its sufficient with good quantity and quality which will allow the breakdown to occur at slower rate than DDM. Symptoms for BMD its usually present between the age of 5 and 15, however the onset is variable, patients usually live until their fourth decade (Tecklin, 2015). Other clinical presentation associated with both conditions are Cardiac, Gastrointestinal, Cognitive, and Respiratory involvement. Since the decline in motor activities over the course of the disease cannot be avoided, it is important to use functional assessment scales for use in clinical follow up, establishment of functional diagnosis and therapeutic decisions making. • 6. How Different Chemicals Affect Surface Tension The aim of my experiment was to figure out how different chemicals affect surface tension. I chose this experiment because I have always wondered how a drop of water stays together as it falls through the air. My independent variable was the different chemicals used. My dependant variable was which liquid stayed on the penny best. The control in this experiment was pure water. My hypothesis was; if water mixed with salt and water mixed with detergent is tested, then detergent will cause the surface tensionto weaken the most. By definition, Surface tension is the property of the surface of a liquid that allows it to resist an external force, due to the cohesive nature of its molecules (USGS). Molecules in a drop of water cling to each other. This is why they can stay together as they fall through the air (Wick 9). In addition, water molecules at the surface of a liquid form stronger bonds (USGS). This is because they have no adjacent molecules on top of them so they exert more powerful forces to molecules on and below the surface of a liquid (USGS). For example, water striders can glide on the surface of water because their mass is not strong enough to break the surface tension (USGS). The dependent variable in this experiment was, which liquid stayed on the penny best. The independent variable was the different chemicals used. Water droplets form spheres because they are pulled by the cohesive forces of the surface layer (USGS). A drop of water in its smallest size is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is going to be done by having predictive maintenance on the elongation of the chain in the escalators, rather than reactive maintenance. Currently, BART is reacting to the effects of chain elongation on escalators which causes maintenance to be rather expensive but most importantly inconvenient for customers. BART is currently doing this because some of the escalators are older so they do not have any automation associated with them. At this moment, when an escalator breaks down due to chain elongation there is major downtime to repair it because it is in need of emergency maintenance. With emergency reactive maintenance an ... The unfortunate part is that the strategies are not well publicized and this is a negative for nurses. We, as professionals, need to be better informed. I read as much as possible in professional magazines, but apparently, that is not enough, as I did not know of the existence of some of the strategies named above. Nurses who deliver patient care, who are living the shortage, need to know what is being done to help them deliver the care they believe patients deserve. It is likely that individual institutions do not readily inform of strategies that they are participating in to recruit nurses. I did not know that my employer helps fund the local nursing schools such that the nurses may choose to work at the hospital where I am employed. That is an important piece of a puzzle, as nurses notoriously do not like to help student nurses as they slow the process. If the staff knew that these nurses are potential colleagues, perhaps they would treat the students with a bit more interest and compassion. In addition, the media needs to be on board with informing of strategies in progress to help restore the health care system to one of quality as opposed to focusing on errors. These doctrines helped also helped to forge my interest in recycling and environmental energy conservation especially now as the demand for energy resources is growing at an alarming rate. Chevron PLC stated in an article that the world population which is currently around 7 billion is projected to grow by an additional 1 billion in the next 12 years, especially in NOECD or developing countries as predicted by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), this growth would result in more demand for energy resources particularly global fossil fuel consumption, clean water supply, electricity as well as food, public health services and shelter. Having grown up in Nigeria, a country with a population of 167 million persons and ranked as the seventh crude oil producer in the world and the largest oil producing country in Africa, it is ironic that about 117.8 million Nigerians rely on fuels such as animal dung, crop residues, wood, charcoal and kerosene as sources of energy to cook and to power lanterns, an estimated 60 million Nigerians own generators, and spend an estimated N1.56 trillion ($13.35m) annually to power them. • 12. Bumper Harvest On The Cards Bumper Harvest on the cards Answer1: Professor Marshall propounded that price of a commodity is determined by its demand and supply. Market is composed of two parties that are buyers and sellers. Thus both demand and supply curves are important for determining the price of a commodity. Equilibrium price: The price at which quantity demanded equals quantity supplied is called equilibrium price. Total demand: Here demand doesn t mean the amount of commodity which people need rather effective demand that is the amount which people are willing to buy at various prices. Total supply: it means the quantity offered for sale by producers. Thus, the supply of wheat does not mean the actual stock of wheat; it means the amount of wheat which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While the sellers are prepared to supply wheat at P S . In this way unsatisfied buyers will compete with each other to have the limited supply. Hence, there will be tendency the price to rise to the level of OP. The time element: different economists have given importance to the time element in the theory of price because supply of a commodity depends on the time allowed for its adjustment. Supply of goods like wheat at any point of time is fixed. Thus it can be said that it is the demand that plays an important role in the determination of the price of the commodity. As such mentioned in the article that its growth depends upon spring. It was approximately 16mt in the last season and if the same conditions prevail then only this much amount of production can be expected. Diagrammatically Quantity of wheat is measured on horizontal axis that is x axis and vertical axis that is y axis. SS curve is parallel to y axis because supply cannot be increased in short run. Moe price depends on demand. As demand increases and DD curve shifts rightward equilibrium price rises to OP . As demand for good falls and DD curve shifts leftwards prices fall to OP Determination of market price: it will be determined by momentary equilibrium between demand and supply at a time. And we know that supply of good is limited by the stock available.the price of the commodity that will prevail in the market depends upon the time period. If sudden and once ... • 14. Persuasive Essay On Community Service The options for community service are endless. After narrowing down my options, I applied to volunteer at the Crystal Lake Public Library this past summer. Having to go in for an interview was a new experience for me, considering how I have never applied for a job. I believe that the exposure to the interview process did two things for me: first, it put me out of my comfort zone, and second, it taught me invaluable lessons about applying for future jobs and programs. This is because I am the kind of person who can get nervous easily, and I struggle to hide it sometimes. An interview is a type of situation that I would feel nervous in; however, I was able to overcome my fear and apply to the library anyways. Therefore, I learned what I should expect to be asked, and I understand how I should properly respond. Once I was accepted to the library s volunteer network, I was able to choose which department I would work for in order to serve the community. By volunteering at the library, I improved the Youth Services department, particularly by participating in the Adopt a Shelf program. One part of my job was to rearrange the books in the correct order when they got disorganized. This made it easier for parents and children to find the books, movies, and CDs they were looking for. Another task that I enjoyed was replacing the books to their proper location from the clean up cart. It is important for books to be on the shelves where they belong because otherwise it appears that books are not available. My favorite part of volunteering for the library, however, was getting to help kids pick out the books they were looking for. I remember many of the people I helped, but one of my fondest moments occurred on one of my first days. I was working in the junior fiction department, and there was a young girl there. She wanted to find a new series of books to read for the summer reading program. It was special to show her the novels that I read when I was her age, especially when she chose to start the Mother Daughter Book Club books: my favorite series in middle school. Stupidity is not an accusation that could be hurled against such prominent early Republicans as Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Elihu Root and Charles Evans Hughes. Eisenhower a view endorsed by Richard Hofstadter s 1963 book Anti Intellectualism in American Life, which contrasted Stevenson, a politician of uncommon mind and style, whose appeal to intellectuals overshadowed anything in recent history, with Eisenhower conventional in mind, relatively inarticulate. Therefore in this research, we are presenting new Dynamic Multilevel Priority (DMP) method of scheduling policy for RTS. As the name indicates, this method works dynamically and as per the requirement of task scheduling. DMP algorithm is designed with three different queues of tasks/demands scheduling based on nature of tasks. In first queue, security/urgency related demands should be proceed with highest priority, in second queue with second highest priority, regular demands should be proceed, while last queue is used to serve local non real time demands. In first queue, real time packets processed with highest priority. Thus this scheduling policy does not hold any demand for longer waiting period and hence improves the overall QoS performance of RTSs. The practical evaluation of proposed methodology is done by using UPPAAL tool. We have considered train gate example for evaluation of proposed scheduling policy. Keyword: Real Time ... • 20. Anabolic Steroid Use in Sports Summary Anabolic Steroid use in Sports The competitive drive to win at all cost is fierce among athletes. Winning at all cost often includes using one of many performance enhancing drugs such as anabolic steroids. Many athletes use performance enhancing drugs, like steroids, to achieve higher goals and set higher records than other drug free successful athletes. Although athletes are performing at higher levels when using such drugs, what is the cost? Finally anabolic steroids should remain banned from sports because their use results in many harmful side effects; because their use violates sports regulations, and because their use can cause death. Anabolic steroids should remain banned from sports because of the many harmful... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another reason is the potential side effect caused by the use of anabolic steroids. Since the use of steroids has become a trend among athletes, the number of deaths among them has risen. A lot of these deaths are due to suicides and violent behavior as a result of the effect of these anabolic androgenic steroids on mood. A number of recent, well publicized deaths of American football players have drawn attention to the potential dangers of sports supplements and the raised important public health concerns about the unrestricted availability of these products that are exempt from U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulation (Haller, 2002). Performance enhancing drugs are not only dangerous and damaging; they are potentially deadly. Between 1985 and 1995, at least 121 US athletes collapsed and died during or directly after a training session or game; most often because they had hypertrophic cardiomyopathy or heart malformations (Maron, 1996). Most of the athletes that have collapsed and died during or directly after training session or game tested positive for some type of performance enhancing drug. From case reports, the incidence of life threatening effects appears to be low, but serious adverse effects may be under recognized or under reported. Data from animal studies seem to support this possibility. One study found that exposing male ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The purpose of the operational plan is to focus on shorter term objectives usually within 1 up to 3 years. Crisp argues within hist article that Johnathan Edwards beliefs should be studied and offer a challenge to contemporary theologians to think about these matters more organically (Crisp, 49). Crisp gives an analysis of Johnathan Edwards beliefs on communion, the process, and the requirements to obtain communion. He states that Edwards believed that there had to be a confession of faith included with the communion service, and that only when they gave an outward piece of evidence that they were converted from their sins that they should and could obtain communion (Crisp, 55). He explains the Johnathan Edwards view of the sacrament was in fact based on his personal experiences and shifted through time. He argues with Edwards that the person who does not believe in God should not be allowed to attend the Lord s Supper (Crisp, 63). Yet, Edward s also believed that a person should live a pious life pleasing to God (Crisp, 57). The assassination of Duke Franz Ferdinand was the most significant assassination of the twentieth century. The series of unfortunate events, the lives of the killer and the killed, the coincidence and the troubles that ensued because of this event were key to the beginning of World War I . As they were cruising through the town in an open car, Serbian nationalist Nedjelko Cabrinovic threw a bomb at their vehicle. The bomb rolled off of the back their vehicle and injured a few officers and a few civilian. The car sped off and quickly made it to a safe place. Children s books address this problem by combining relatability, students interests as well as connections to the text, and functionality, the ability for it to be used to fulfill standards. The books offer a unique medium where everyone has an opinion or experience that connects in a significant way to them. The relatability comes from the stories prevalence in culture. Teachers must find a way to get students to connect to the story, form complex ideas about the story s meaning, and show them how to prove these ideas; A difficult task to complete with books that take weeks to read. There is a need, therefore, to limit the quantity of tasks a teacher needs to complete to teach students how to interpret the text. The lesson uses children s books to correct the problem by having relatability established beforehand and, in many cases, getting students to interact with the material in a critical way that is meaningful for them. Numerous studies have shown that using materials that students relate to and care about increases retention and speeds up initial learning. Connections are rarely formed, however, when students are forced to quickly and artificially connect with books that they have not chosen because they are interested in it, but because someone is making them read the story. Children s books get around this by offering an interesting multi dimensional forum where students already have personal experiences from popular culture references to the stories and their own concerns, ranging from gender roles to morality, developed slowly over time rather than demanded immediately. Dyslexia literally translated from Greek as inadequate words or language is a learning disability characterised by problems with reading, writing, spelling and speaking. The most common definition of dyslexia is the discrepancy definition, which suggests that dyslexics are those whose reading ability is below average for their age group, or IQ. The first case of dyslexiawas reported in 1896 by Dr. Pringle Morgan, who described an intelligent 14 year old boy who had an inability to read, as suffering from as Pringle Morgan believed word blindness resulting from deficiencies in visual processing. Gallagher, Frith and Snowling (submitted) demonstrated that 4 year old children from families with a first degree relative suffering from dyslexia performed worse on tests of language and speech processing, compared to children from non dyslexic families. This study supports the phonological deficit hypothesis as it suggests that dyslexic children show early deficiencies in speech production. Although the role of heritability is important to consider, due to the real world implications it has of helping to identify at risk children who are more likely to develop dyslexia, it cannot explain why there is only a 50 per cent rate of heritability for dyslexia. There has also been very little research into the heritability of either deficits in visual processing, or cerebellar abnormality. Despite the support for the phonological deficit hypothesis, one of the main criticisms of the theory is that it fails to acknowledge possible deficits in visual processing which may cause dyslexia. The visual magnocellular deficit hypothesis (Stein, 2000) suggests that dyslexia may be caused by deficiencies within visual processing; specifically within the magnocellular system, which is responsible among other things for timing visual events when reading (Stein, 2001). Therefore, if our eyes wander whilst reading, the magnocellular is responsible for bringing our focus back on target. In dyslexics, it is suggested that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the first article Civic Engagement in American Democracy by Theda Skocpol and Morris Fiorina they review civic engagement inequality based on income level. They believe that participation and the distribution of the participants are critical to ensure there is equality for political policy decisions. The research suggests that people with higher education or income are more political active. With the lower income people having differing concerns this gap in participation means that their voice is not heard even though they benefit from many programs. But I started with more В«professionalВ» practices when I was ten years old, and that is a little late compared to usual age you start your sport activities. Swimming is often an invidual sport, but it can also be team sport as well. The sport itself is about to get yourself through the water as fast as you can. The time, of course, is not so important if you are not a professional swimmer. In swimming you have four different styles, which you use to get yourself further. The styles are: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle. Freestyle has been invented first, and is the most popular and effective way of swimming. As other styles were invented over the time, butterfly was the last style to be officially accepted as the one of them. More specifically she studies false memories and how memories can be changed by things we are told. Facts, ideas, suggestions and other post event information can modify our memories. In the video, Loftus opens with a story about a man named Steve Titus. He was a convicted of a crime he didn t commit. The victim that identified him first told the police that Steve Titus s picture looked closest to the perpetrator. Later, during the trial the same person identified him with absolute certainty. How is this possible? False memories. The video goes on to explain that Steve Titus s case is not the only case where someone was convicted because of false memories. In the United States, there have been about 300 cases where innocent people have been convicted of crimes they didn t commit. Of those cases about 225 are due to faulty memory, faulty ... The misinformation effect is when a memory has been corrupted by misleading information (Myers Dewall, 2014). When exposed to misleading information, we tend to misremember. Hearing a vivid retelling of a story or event could implant false memories. Misinformation and source amnesia happen without our awareness. • 45. Robert Nozick s Account Of Property Rights When looking at property distribution it is easy to come to the conclusion that Robert Nozick s libertarian account of property rights is the most reasonable theory. Nozick s view is one that can be easily defended and there are plenty of examples to support the claims he makes. By utilizing Nozick s theory, property distributioncan be understood and improved on a grand scale. Before I am able to support these claims, it is important for the reader to truly understand key aspects of his theory. After describing the most important parts of his theory I will offer examples and reasons that offer support to his theory. There are also certain counterarguments against his views that I will address later in this paper to show these counterarguments... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When looking at these counterarguments individually it is easy to dismiss these disagreements. Some believe that the vast unequal distribution in United States can be used as an example of what is wrong with Nozick s theory, but this is simply not valid. Although there are definitely issues with the wealth distribution in the United States, many of those problems are addressed in Nozick s theory. One cannot simply look at the current state of wealth distribution and ignore the history behind the problems. A majority of the current unequal distribution is due to a long history of unjust practices in business related to acquisition and transfer. Using Nozick s theory of property distribution these problems become obsolete. Nozick s theory includes rules that need to be followed, which prevent the unjust transfer of goods by using coercive measures. By following this rule, we immediately avoid the wealth gained by people who use unjust practices to gain their wealth. People might also point to the unequal distribution experienced by different racial groups as evidence against Nozick s theory. This argument can also be discredited using Nozick s third and final rule, which declares that problems caused by past injustices need to rectified. This rule would immediately help fix issues with unequal distribution of wealth between whites and minorities. Throughout history minorities have been handicapped by problems with equality causing them to essentially fall behind economically. If these injustices were rectified financially, the playing field would become substantially more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. Premillennialist Belief In Rapture The fact that there exist various narratives concerning the topic of apocalypse invites the notion that there is a great number of people desiring the end of the world. Why would somebody be desirous of terminating the world s existence? Despite the fact that the end of the world has a dark, uncanny, irredeemably, and desperate tone to it, one has to consider its consequences. Therefore, the evangelical protestantism belief in the rapture offers a solution to the otherwise unsatisfactory or even nonexistent future. Dispensational premillennialists think of themselves as being designated to spread the idea of rapture; which conveys that Christ will come to earth in order to take the true believers to heaven. True believers are worthy of this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The rapture in this case is a synonym for escape; an escape from a world true believers are undeservingly trapped in. The question that emerges while analyzing rapture is whether true believers are utterly freed from desires in heaven. Humans are determined to desire something and therefore it appears unlikely that after being taken to heaven, these desires completely vanish. Another reason for apocalyptic desire in terms of the rapture is hope for a better life. People that feel incomplete, that cannot bear competition, that are harrassed or even people that are alone may desire to be taken away from a miserable place. God s existence and his presence in heaven would save them. Faith and hope motivate discontented people to cope with everyday life. Furthermore Crawford Gribben explains that: [...] dispensational premillennialism appealed to those evangelicals dissatisfied with the theological prevarications of mainstream Protestantism, as well as those, [...], whose disappointment with the possibilities of mission work was both a cause and a consequence of their increasingly pessimistic millennial point of view. • 48. Philos, Eros, Agape Love in Religion Essay Philia, eros, and agape are three different Greek terms for the word. These three terms explain the different types of love a human being can acquire. Philia is a love of friendship, which is grounded in commonality. However, eros is a kind of love that seeks something from the other person or thing. Lastly, agape is the lovethat wills the good of the other and is completely self giving. The meanings of these Greek terminologies, philia, eros, and agape, allow us to better understand and discuss our relationship with God and human fulfillment. In order to find human fulfillment, one must find God of JesusChrist as well. Erotic loving is our desire for this fulfillment, which can be seen through eros. Human nature can be simply defined... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sartre attested that the human being is a useless passion due to our insatiable desires. Markedly, human beings desire to retain the infinite and that need is simply impossible. For the search for the unlimited is tiresome and unappeasable. Conversely, there is an alternate way of looking at eros. In order to have hope, God has to appear to human life as not a receding horizon but an absolute savior. Human beings long for the truth and due to the constraints of science and history, Jesus is seen in an alternate way because he is no longer limited by space or time. In this case, Karl Rahner and Saint Augustine both agree that God always initiates the relationship with human life. Namely, they asserted that we are constantly drawn to God and God is not drawn to us. Because of this, we have the option of forming a better relationship with God. Rahner said that God dispenses his grace to all human beings of every religion in and God is continually accepting. Chiefly, it is not God s choice to accept or deny us, for that is not his matter
. Anthony De Mello describes another explanation of human fulfillment to us. He explains to us that in order to have human fulfillment, we must detach ourselves from our worldly attachments. As human beings, we allow ourselves to believe that we cannot be happy without a certain thing or person in our life. Thus, that is not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Repercussions Of Children In A Motherless Home We have heard of children who are raised without a father in the home, but I want to bring attention to another, more rare issue, children being raised without a mother in the home. A letter to the editor, published in The New York Times, on May 1, 1994, states, That in 1988, the last year for which the Social Security Administration collected data showing that 588,000 children under the age of 18 had lost their mothers to death a figure that doesn t even begin to include those families where mothers are absent due to divorce, abandonment, alcoholism, mental impairment and imprisonment (NY Times).
