- AppInsight for Active Directory, provides unparalleled performance monitoring allowing admins to quickly troubleshoot services and replication problems. It’s important to note that this was a top user request on Thwack from our existing SAM customers and will generate a ton of excitement for both new and existing customers. Think about it. Active Directory is an integral application for every company, and we use it daily. Some examples are: logging into your computer, sending/receiving email, printing, and file access. These all depend on correct permissions and the system authenticating those requests via Active Directory. Now let’s move on to Cisco UCS support.
- With SAM 6.8 Cisco UCS Hardware health support, systems admins can monitor the hardware environment and also provide visibility for admins using UCS to run hyper converged infrastructures (HCI) that are leveraging VMware and Microsoft technologies. Click next to get a sneak peek of the features in action.
- One of the best ways to monitor a VMware environment is by analyzing VMware events. vSphere sends VMware events to convey information about events that happen in the system, and our customers rely on them to tell a deeper forensic story about why issues arise. End users can view the events and receive alert notifications to act on issues they see within their virtualized environment without leaving Orion. This is also a popular request by customers on Thwack…. Our customers asked for it and we listened. Surely, this will drive excitement with current and new customers.
- VMAN 8.4, will also offer UCS hardware support that we learned about earlier with SAM’s 6.8 update. As technology advances we’re providing visibility for Cisco UCS customers using it in Hyper converged infrastructures (HCI) using VMware or Microsoft technologies.
- We’ve extended deeper hardware visibility into Dell and HP arrays, further improving and expanding the existing hardware support. source https://techfieldday.com/companies/3par/
- SRM 6.8 now supports Kaminario storage. They’re a growing player in the flash storage market, so be sure to bring this up with customers.
- In most environments, multiple people, teams, or applications must have permission to change a server configuration. The natural question on an admins mind is, "who made the change?" The Change Detection feature in SCM will give admins visibility into the information and give them a better starting point to troubleshoot issues, decreasing meantime to resolution and increasing accountability across different teams.
- Next, we have Near Real-Time Change Detection. This functionality provides users with visibility into what specifically changed and when. Without real-time detection, changes can get lost in-between polling cycles. Admins will get a much better idea of what's happening with their systems during a time that may have led to a performance issue or outage. Both "who made the change" and Near Real-Time Change Detection require deployment of the File Integrity Monitoring (FIM) driver included with the standard Orion Agent.
- Similar to the existing functionality in SAM, SCM allows users to centrally manage PowerShell scripts, and gather, detect, and alert on changes to the output of those scripts. This functionality expands beyond SAM scripting capabilities as it isn't limited to metric data. The user is only limited by their scripting ability. Can you see how, when selling SAM, you could naturally cross-sell and recommend SCM for its PowerShell capabilities? Let’s look at SCM in action. Click next to watch a short video.
- Log Analyzer will now natively support Windows events, and it will be much easier for users to consolidate logs in Orion with other log sources in their environment. Admins can visualize, correlate, and tag Windows events and receive alerts in near real-time. This functionality makes it much easier for users to investigate issues. This also applies to VMware events and requires the user to have a VMAN 8.4 licenses. To collect Windows events, users need to deploy the Orion agent.
- Besides supporting Windows and VMware events, we made several usability improvements. Log Analyzer now forwards and exports logs giving admins the ability to perform a variety of tasks. Some of these tasks might include: troubleshooting, sharing important logs with other teams or vendors, attaching logs to help desk tickets, getting them into other applications (such as a SIEM tool) and archiving logs. Improvements to the rules creator makes it easier and faster to create rules on log data and ensure the rules will be accurate and trigger correctly.
- Log Analyzer will now natively support Windows events, and it will be much easier for users to consolidate logs in Orion with other log sources in their environment. Admins can visualize, correlate, and tag Windows events and receive alerts in near real-time. This functionality makes it much easier for users to investigate issues. This also applies to VMware events and requires the user to have a VMAN 8.4 licenses. To collect Windows events, users need to deploy the Orion agent.
