Bob Ward – Director Fire Compliance & Safety Ltd On leaving the Fire Service early through injury, Bob entered the Fire Safety Industry, he joined a large international corporate company but found that the corporate sales strategy and ethos were at odds with his own desire to provide exceptional customer service. He was determined to strike out on his own and provide a service for customers that matched his ethos and give the customer exactly what they wanted at a price they could afford, in the knowledge that this professional service would continue from year to year protecting his client’s properties, business and staff. "People want to know that you care about them and their needs, rather than what your sales target’s dictate they should be having" Bob believes passionately about fire safety, using his trademarked Risk Assessment system he has built a client base in the South of England consisting of small shops and large factories, school complexes to large property portfolios and now, has franchised his business throughout the United Kingdom. Many Brigades have complimented Bob on the finished Fire Risk Assessment stating it as "very comprehensive and easy to use, an ideal tool for every business owner". New Fire Safety Law. The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 means that every business in the UK is required by law to carry out and record a Fire Risk Assessment; act on the findings of the assessment; and train all staff in basic fire safety. This is where we can help you and your Business. If you don't employ anyone who is competent to carry out a Fire Risk Assessment, and you don’t want to take the liability, you can call on us! Let us take this burden from you. Whether it’s an annual Fire Risk Assessment or Health & Safety Consultancy Support your Business needs, we can accommodate your requirements both quickly and efficiently allowing you to concentrate on running your business with confidence! The Health & Safety Executive and the Fire & Rescue Service may carry out a spot check on your company at any time, and if you haven’t carried out (and recorded) a Fire Risk Assessment you will be breaking the law and liable to prosecution. We can keep you legal. Aside from your legal obligations, a Fire Risk Assessment can genuinely save you money by identifying what is actually needed and not what other people would like to sell you. The New Legislation
If your workplace has a fire, will your insurer pay out? If you haven’t carried out your Fire Risk Assessment this year they may not! What's a Fire Risk Assessment? A Fire Risk Assessment evaluates your premises in terms of fire safety hazards. A qualified Fire Compliance & Safety assessor will visit your premises, make a detailed physical inspection and provide you with an easy to understand report. This report will include a prioritised action plan on how to minimise the risk of fire to your business. Who needs a Fire Risk Assessment? The Law states that the responsible person for each premise is required to carry out a Fire Risk Assessment each year and take steps to reduce or remove the risks. The "responsible person" is the person/s, who owns or controls the business and the owner of the property in the case of multi occupied buildings. Why can’t I do the Fire Risk Assessment myself? If you have the time and expertise to do it you can, but beware, for an untrained person a Fire Risk Assessment can be time consuming and might not meet the legal requirements. The law clearly states that "a premise must have a suitable and sufficient Fire Risk Assessment carried out by a competent person". The definition of a 'competent person' is where a person has had "sufficient training and or knowledge and other qualities to carry out the role". The Fire Service are at liberty to visit a premises at any time and check a Fire Risk Assessment. If you are unfortunate enough to have a fire and your Fire Risk Assessment has been deemed not suitable or sufficient the loss adjusters can use that fact to withhold or downgrade any insurance payments.
