Bearing Capacity of Shallow Foundation.faizanNoor8
This document discusses the bearing capacity of shallow foundations. It defines bearing capacity as the maximum average contact pressure between the foundation and soil without causing shear failure. Shallow foundations are those where the depth is less than the width, and are commonly used as they are economical and easy to construct. Terzaghi's bearing capacity theory states that the ultimate bearing capacity of a shallow foundation depends on the cohesion of the soil, overburden pressure, and unit weight of the soil. It provides equations to calculate the ultimate bearing capacity for square, continuous, and circular footings based on this theory.

This document contains section notes on foundation engineering from a third year civil engineering course. It discusses terminology and sizing parameters for retaining walls, including factors related to height. It also describes two potential failure modes - overturning and sliding - and provides equations for calculating resisting and driving moments or forces to ensure adequate safety factors against each failure mode. Friction coefficients are provided for different soil types. The use of passive pressure is also mentioned to supplement friction forces if insufficient on their own.

1. A site investigation determines the suitability of a site for construction by examining physical aspects like soil composition and legal aspects like planning permissions.
2. The investigation assesses the site suitability, helps with design and construction planning, and predicts potential issues. Information is needed on soil properties, groundwater, and excavated materials.
3. The investigation process involves a desk study of existing information, a site walkover, detailed tests and sampling which may include trial pits and boreholes to examine soil and groundwater conditions.
Dams are barriers that impound water and come in many types defined by their material, structure, size, and purpose. The main types include earth-fill dams, which are constructed from compacted earth and rock; arch dams, which are curved to exert outward pressure on the abutments; and gravity dams, which rely on their massive weight for stability. Dams are classified according to their material, structure, size, and purpose, with common purposes being water storage, diversion, or detention. Selection of the appropriate dam type depends on factors like the landscape, geology, construction materials, and project requirements.
This document provides an introduction and overview of dewatering methods used in construction projects. It discusses how the water table and groundwater conditions can impact foundations and excavations. Several key dewatering methods are described, including sumps, wells, well points, drainage galleries, and exclusion methods like ground freezing. Sumps involve pumping from perforated drums in a gravel-filled excavation and work best in fine-grained soils. Wells use large-diameter casings and pumps to dewater large areas to depth in permeable soils. Well points are smaller and more shallow but can effectively dewater coarse-grained soils through a vacuum system. Selection of the appropriate dewatering method depends on factors like soil type, excav
The document discusses important considerations for selecting the site of a barrage, including:
1. Choosing a location near farmland that allows for long canals for irrigation.
2. Selecting a river width that is neither too high nor too low to avoid damage.
3. Ensuring straight river flow for at least 1.5 km upstream and room on both river banks.
4. Choosing a site with strong, high river banks to reduce need for flood banks.
This document contains 43 questions related to hydrology and water resources engineering. The questions cover topics like the hydrologic cycle, precipitation, rainfall measurement, runoff analysis, unit hydrographs, flood frequency analysis and flood routing. Most of the questions ask students to explain hydrologic concepts, factors affecting runoff and infiltration, methods to derive unit hydrographs and questions related to flood estimation. A few questions ask students to perform hydrologic calculations related to rainfall measurement, runoff estimation and unit hydrograph development.
Lining is an integral part of Tunneling. Once the Shotcrete line ,i.e the B-line,is laid, the Kerb/Kicker or Say Beam is executed. Next Comes the Geotextile/Waterproofing Membrane. After that, C-line is laid which is referred to as inner lining.
This presentation discusses various ground improvement techniques, including:
- Dynamic compaction and dynamic replacement, which use heavy weights or tampers to densify soils.
- Vibro compaction and vibro replacement, which use vibratory probes to densify or install stone columns in soils.
- Controlled modulus columns, jet grouting, and vertical drains which are reinforcement techniques that install cement, soil-cement, or aggregate columns or improve drainage in soils.
- Menard vacuum consolidation, which uses a vacuum and vertical drains to accelerate consolidation of soft soils.
The document provides examples of applications of these techniques and their advantages for improving bearing capacity and reducing settlement of soils.
The document discusses underground dams, including their design, classification, construction methods, and modeling. Underground dams store groundwater by creating an impermeable barrier underground rather than a surface reservoir. They are classified based on purpose (e.g. storage, saltwater intrusion prevention), construction method (e.g. grouting, sheet piles), reservoir type (fully subsurface, partially surface), and material. Numerical groundwater models are used to analyze flow and design underground dams.
Ground freezing is a process that makes water-bearing soil temporarily impermeable and stronger by transforming water into ice. It involves circulating cold liquid through pipes in the ground to freeze the soil. As the ice forms, it bonds soil particles together into a hard mass like concrete. Ground freezing has several applications, including earth support during tunnel excavation. It provides advantages like temporary structure underpinning and control of contaminated soil removal. The process forms frozen cylinders around pipes that expand and join to create a continuous frozen barrier.
The document discusses foundations and site exploration for determining soil properties. It describes the functions of foundations, including distributing loads, preventing uneven settling, and providing stability. Subsurface investigation methods are outlined, such as trial pits, probing, geophysical tests, and borings used to determine soil types and properties at varying depths. The document also discusses determining the bearing capacity of soils using methods like plate load tests and penetration tests.

19. Tüm bu etkileri minimuma indirmek
amacıyla, yapı çeĢitli noktalardan
dilatasyonlarla ayrılıp, 14 farklı bloğa
bölünmüĢtür.
21. DĠLATASYON YERLERĠNĠN BELĠRLENMESĠ
L (m)
up = 1.50 L (mm)
36. TEMEL SĠSTEMĠNĠN SEÇĠMĠ
Alt tribün kirişleri altında
1.00 m yüksekliğinde şerit
temeller oluşturulmuştur.
Maden etkileri
yüzünden, tribün kirişinin en
alt kottaki ilk mesnetinin
yatayda kayıcı olmasına karar
verilmiştir.
Alttaki temel ile tribün kirişi
arasında herhangi bir donatı
geçişi de olmayacaktır.
37. STADYUM BÖLÜMÜ KALIP SĠSTEMĠNĠN SEÇĠMĠ
Yapıda döşeme açıklıkları eğrisel
formdan dolayı değişkenlik
göstermekle beraber, kısa açıklık
genellikle 6.00 m, uzun açıklık ise 8.00
m ile 10.00 m arasındadır.
Yapılan ön hesaplar sonucunda, tüm
bloklarda döşeme kalınlıkları 22
cm, kiriş yükseklikleri ise 60 cm olarak
belirlenmiştir.
İki blok arasında teşkil edilen
hareketli döşemelerin kalınlığı ise 26
cm olarak alınmıştır.
39. OTOPARK BLOKLARI KALIP SĠSTEMĠNĠN SEÇĠMĠ
Otoparklar, güneyden kuzeye
doğru arazi eğimiyle birlikte
yükselecek şekilde tasarlanmış 8
farklı bloktan oluşmaktadır.
Bloklar arasındaki
dilatasyonlar, 5m‟lik konsol
uçlarında yapılmıştır.
Sistem, kirişli plak döşeme
olup, sistem yüksekliği 70
cm, döşeme kalınlığı 22 cm‟dir.
Binaya giriş merdivenleri bu
döşemeler üzerine oturmaktadır.
50. 3D HESAP MODELĠNĠN HAZIRLANMASI
Ön çalışma sonucu oluşturulan kalıp planları kullanılarak, ETABS
programı ile yapının üç boyutlu hesap modeli oluşturulmuştur.

1.10 kN / m2
2.00 kN / m2
70. RÜZGAR YÜKÜ (W)
Mevcut SNIP şartnamelerinde Donetsk şehri için rüzgar yükü,
w0 = 0.38 kN / m2
olarak verilmiştir. Aerodinamik çarpanlar ve dinamik etkilerde
gözönüne alındığında rüzgar yükünün değeri,
wm = 0.80 kN / m2
„e kadar çıkmaktadır.
Olası kuvvetli rüzgar akıntılarının, yapıda oluşturacağı aksi tesirleri
görebilmek amacıyla, yapıya rüzgar tüneli testinin yapılması uygun
görülmüştür.
71. RÜZGAR TÜNELĠ TESTĠ
Rüzgar tüneli testi için, stadyumun ve
çevresindeki yapıların ufak boyutta bir
modeli hazırlanmıştır.
Donetsk şehrine ait meteorolojik
kayıtlarından elde edilen rüzgar hızları
yardımıyla, farklı yönlerden 1sn
periyotlu yüklemeler yapılmış ve yapının
farklı noktalarındaki basınç ve emme
gerilmeleri elde edilmiştir.
wm = 1.00 1.20 kN / m2
wm = 1.20 kN / m2
alınmasına karar verilmiştir.
Vt1 = 0.005×1.40 (R+S) + 0.015(G1+G2) = 0.007 (R+S) + 0.015(G1+G2)
2) Tüm yapıya etkiyen artırılmış hareketli yüklerin % 7.5‟u
Vt2 = 0.075×1.20Q = 0.09Q
Herhangi bir “i” nci kata etkiyen yatay kuvvet Fi, taban kesme
kuvveti Vt, ye bağlı olarak,
w i Hi
Fi Vt N
w jHj

formülü ile elde edilmiştir
78. TOPRAK YÜKLEMESĠ (T)
Kazık, temel, istinat duvarı .vs toprak dolgu yüklerinin olduğu
bölümlerde ayrı bir yükleme olarak dikkate alınmıştır.
81. DÖġEME – SONLU ELEMAN ANALĠZLERĠ
İlgili SNIP şartnamelerinde verilen minimum donatı şartlarına da
uyulmak kaydıyla, sonlu eleman analizlerinde elde edilen plak
moment diagramları ve donatı tabloları yardımıyla gerekli plak
donatıları krokilere işlenmiştir.
Ukrayna yangın şartnamelerine
göre, döşemelerde çalışan donatının
yangına açık yüzeyden en az 40 mm
uzakta olması istenmiştir. 50 mm
kaplamanın bulunduğu döşemenin üst
kısmında ise bu değer 25 mm, altta
ise 40 mm kabul edilmiştir.
85. KAT KĠRĠġLERĠ
ACI-318-05 yönetmeliği
kullanılarak kesit donatı hesabı
yapılmış ve grafikler
kullanılarak donatı seçimi
yapılmıştır.
Donatı pursantajları % 0.8‟i
aşmamaktadır.
Yatay yüklerden oluşan
tesirler, sonuçlarda etkin
değildir. Statikçe gerekmedikçe
çoğu kiriş mesnetinde etriye
sıklaştırması yapılmamıştır. 192.95 KOTU

bulunduğundan farklı deplasmanlar
yapmakta, eğilme tesirlerine ek
olarak, eksenel çekme ve basınç
kuvvetleri de oluşmaktadır.

Kesitin
alt ve üst cidarlarındaki mevcut eğilme donatısı artırılmış, gövdeye
ise ilave olarak,
Ast 2 4 12 9.04 cm2
donatı konmuştur.
88. KOLONLAR
Kesit içine konan donatılar ACI-
318-05 yönetmeliği kullanılarak
kontrol edilmiş, kolon kapasite
oranlarının (gerekli / mevcut)
“1.00” den küçük olmasını
sağlayana kadar donatılar
artırılmıştır.
Yatay yüklerden oluşan
tesirler, sonuçlarda etkin değildir.
Statikçe gerekmedikçe kolonlarda
etriye sıklaştırması yapılmamıştır.
89. ASANSÖR PERDELERĠ
Perde kesitleri içlerine seçilen donatı konularak kapasite kontrolu
yapılmıştır.
Perde eğilme momentlerinin başlıklarda oluşturduğu çekme ve basınç
kuvvetlerine karşılık gelecek özel başlık bölgeleri oluşturulmuştur.

106. ĠKĠ MODEL ARASINDAKĠ FARKLAR
Tasarım sonucu çıkan donatı miktarı = 61.046 kg (147 kg / m2)
Enstitünün ilaveleriyle birlikte donatı miktarı = 133.448 kg (321 kg / m2) !!!!
Enstitünün hesabında yaptığı kabuller ve hataları:
1. Enstitünün hesap modelinde temel ve üstyapı birbirinden ayrı
çözülmüş, üstyapıdan gelen tesirler, temele dış yük olarak verilmiştir.
2. Üstyapıdaki perdelerin rijitlikleri temel hesabında dikkate
alınmadığından, eğilme tesirleri sonucu temelde oluşacak dönmeler
doğru bir şekilde bulunamamıştır.
107. ĠKĠ MODEL ARASINDAKĠ FARKLAR
3. Üstyapıdaki perdelerin eğikliğinden dolayı ağırlık merkezi dışa doğru
kaymaktadır. Dolayısıyla dış yüzdeki basınç gerilmelerinin ve
donatılarının daha fazla olması beklenirken, enstitünün hesabında ön
yüzdeki kolon altlarında da ciddi basınç gerilmeleri oluşmuştur.
