2. Successful coaching is dependant on successful
communication! We ensure we excel at communicating
through coaching, by continually speaking with players and
giving feedback daily/weekly/monthly in and outside of a
training setting. By communicating on this wide spectrum,
we allow players to receive tailored feedback at a time where
they are personally most receptive, open to take constructive
criticism on board and implement the feedback into their game.
Our overriding aspiration is that players move forward to
professional clubs. However, we recognise there are many
different paths for each individual player and not every player
will develop and progress well in a football league or premier
league club academy. Each player’s potential is different, all
good footballers need to develop, but they also require time
in order to develop. The FBT International Football Academy
provides that time, combined with a challenging, structured
and enjoyable environment in which to progress. This, we feel,
is the best route to success.
We offer players a full educational programme from age
16, which we feel is hugely important to a young persons
development and their understanding of the wider world.
Effectively, education becomes the vehicle to progressing in the
game with us.
We regularly test for Acceleration, Agility, Power and body
composition, especially with older age groups. These results
are recorded to enable us to draw comparisons and continually
assess player performance. We focus heavily on mentality,
fitness, strength, speed, ball management, pass mastery and
decision making in all our practice sessions and this is reflected
in our game play across all age bands. We often play against
squads of an older age, to challenge and stretch players.
As players mature, the more adept we expect them to be at
ball management, decision making and pass mastery. Within
the environment we have created, we feel players will become
mentally and physically stronger over time -the foundations of
what we think makes a good player. We expect players to be
able to perform much quicker and consistently as they mature
in age and understanding.

3. As we are an International Academy, as you would expect, we place a lot of importance
on ensuring we have a welcoming multi-cultural environment. We currently have players
from England, Eire, Nigeria, USA, Australia, Italy, Africa, Germany, Bulgaria, Bermuda,
Greece and Slovakia.
We feel our approach is an excellent barometer for us to measure group and individual
player progression. We are not just about formations, this is how we play on and off the
pitch. We focus on player development and teaching young people about the whole
game of football, striving to help them reach the highest possible standard.

4. We have a growing number of professional club partnerships.
We feel this targeted club approach can prove much more successful than a scattergun
approach when placing a player.
We have relationships with clubs at board level and at senior staff level. This ensures our
players have the very best opportunity presented to them. Then, it’s simply up to them to
show what they are capable of.

8. 8am - Wake up and breakfast
9am - S&C training [generally x3 sessions per week], the
amount of this type of training will depend on where the
player currently fits within group fitness levels, match
fitness levels, strength and agility testing. Players often
also work with our Strength & Conditioning staff when
recovering from injury.
11am - Training session
1pm - Lunch
2pm - Rest / Education
4pm till 6pm - Private gym time
6:30pm - Evening meal

9. Matches generally take place at evening time.
Throughout each day, players will both train and
follow a full-time professional schedule. Each week
players will generally have two days off, dependent
on their age group and the condition of the group as
a whole and of players individually.
Players will always eat three meals per day, at set
times. This is from a set menu and caters for the diet
and nutrition required for an elite athlete. On the
day of a match, all squads will eat a pre-match meal
together.
Swimming, spinning and aerobics are prominent
in our schedule, especially in pre-season and
post Christmas break and players do often use
Hydrotherapy pools for recovery and their general
fitness.

We require all players to have access to private
medical care, that we arrange on their behalf,
should the unfortunate circumstance occur that a
player becomes seriously unwell or has a serious
injury. All players are registered with a Doctors and a
Dentist for those days when they feel unwell or need
a quick visit to the dentist.

10. The players receive feedback daily during coaching sessions and players are also
encouraged to seek further individual feedback on a regular basis, to help them act upon
our guidance.
We complete official reports regarding player performance bi-annually, in December and
May.

11. Our football facilities include top-quality training pitches, study
centre, dining area, changing rooms and access to areas for
analysis. Our training ground is approximately 6 miles away from
the offices and accommodation. All players are taken to and from
training and matches by staff in our own vehicles.
Our living accommodation has a kitchen, large dining area, free
wif-fi and a lounge area for the players to relax. All players have
access to an on-site multi use gym, steam room, sauna, aerobics
studio and spin room. Our accomodation is always fully staffed.
Through our partnership with Chesterfield FC, we have access to
a hydrotherapy pool and a classroom for analysis and education,
within the confines of the Proact Stadium, directly opposite the
player accommodation.
All players have access to:
• Multi use gym
• 3/4 meals a day (depending on daily activities)

• Medical room and medical staff
• Living room/games room
• Fully furnished rooms (2-6 beds)
• Situated opposite the Proact Stadium (Chesterfield FC)
• Full time housekeeper and a full time pastoral officer

are well trained to deal with any matter of
safeguarding or player welfare.
We have four members of staff that are tasked
with the responsibility of dealing with matters
that relate to player welfare and safeguarding
within all our age bands.

players not just in the game, but as young,

Our coaching and staffing ethos both revolve
around teamwork. We have staff to recruit;
coach; aid a player’s fitness; aid a player’s
mindset; advise and prevent against injury;
teach; and support players staying away from
home.

13. Awarding Body: EDEXCEL
Award: BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport (Performance and Excellence) (QCF)
Entry Requirements: Five GCSE’s at C grade or above including English or
Maths. GCSE C or above in Physical Education or a sports related discipline is
desirable.
Content: Learning about different aspects of the sports industry including:
Sports development / Sports coaching / Psychology for sports performance
/ Profiling sports performance / Principles of anatomy and physiology / The
physiology of fitness / Practical team sport / Rules and regulations of different
sports / Sports nutrition / Sport as a business / Assessing risk in sport / Sports
injuries / Leadership in sport / Analysis of sports performance / Preparing to
coach a range of sports activities / Organising sports events.
Course Assessment: You will be assessed in a variety of ways including
assignments and practical tasks. All players will be subject to a football trial
and we will only accept players who are of the required level as an athlete/
footballer in addition to their academic ability.
How long is the Programme: 2 years
Pathways and Progression: Level 4 study / Degree - University /
Apprenticeship / Employment / A player in professional Sport / Start a
career in coaching, medical, S&C, journalism or business management in a
professional football club. Please note: We offer the opportunity to study at
degree level while playing and training full time.
In addition to the above, students who show excellent ability and skill in
coaching will also have the opportunity to study coaching qualifications with
the FA. These include FA Level 1 in coaching football, FA Level 2 in coaching
football, FA Youth module 1, 2 and 3. We will also provide intensive practical
coaching experience and hours to support students in obtaining their
qualifications and gaining vital experience in coaching.
EDUCATION

14. Danny State is now laying, coaching and
looking at completing a degree with the FBT
International Football Academy.
“I have seen first hand how good the
experience is at the FBT Academy. I started
at 16 and spent two years playing in the
academy while I studied to complete a BTEC
Level 3 in Sport. While studying and playing
for the academy I have completed a few
coaching qualifications and I am gaining
valuable coaching experience that I really
don’t think I would get anywhere else. Every
day I learn about coaching using different
techniques, player management, working
with different age groups in our Centre of
Excellence U9-U16 and how to adapt my
coaching to different topics of sessions. It is
real coaching experience.
My study of the BTEC Level 3 in Sport means
that at any time I can also go to University
but then again I may stay with the academy,
continue to play, coach and study a degree
through the FBT International Football
Academy.
I am now playing for the U21s, coaching and
learning every day.”

15. We will make the application for clearance to play in England in tandem with your visa
application. We will only start this process once your application for a visa has been started and
we have the relevant and necessary documentation signed by both the player and parent. The
process of international clearance will require a player to provide identification and proof you
do not have a playing registration held with another FA.
In reality international clearance forms will need to be completed alongside
visa applications. We request that you utilise our solicitors for the process of
applying for your visa. Our legal team are specialists in immigration and deal
with everything on our behalf to do with immigration and visas.
All players are contracted to the FBT
International Football Academy and are
registered with the FA to play in competitive
matches for our academy.
Players will sign a 6, 12 or 24 month contract,
depending on their educational and athletic
ability.
In addition to the playing contract, parents/
guardians are required to sign a parent/
guardian guarantee and also a parent/
guardian code of conduct. Depending on the
type of contract agreed there may also be a
need to sign the following:
• A player code of conduct
• A tenancy agreement
