I am an ambitious, hardworking coach who gives 100% effort and enthusiasm when facing
new coaching and personal challenges. As a teenager, I suffered a stroke, however this
has helped me appreciate that I can be a role model to players that I work with. To achieve
this, I ensure that I am approachable to players and my colleagues. I am easy to get along
with, but determined to complete tasks to a high standard. I want to succeed and this is
shown in the high level of thought and skill and a can do attitude. I am keen to be part of a
2. team and working environment where i can develop further. I have a love of sporting
activities and enjoy teaching these to young children and people. I find this works best in a
playful, yet organised manner, having lots of differentiation to keep them entertained.
Having worked in different environments, this has given me the confidence to be more
adaptable.

6. Coaching Philosophy
Managing Conflict - Work Together
As a coach I have to deal with conflict, I am the first port of call to resolve issues
of any conflict. I also manage parents in a mature and professional manner.
Team Play - Rotational, Not Positional
It gives me great pleasure to see the teams that I am working with showing
positive team play, movement away from the ball and the skills which we work on
as homework and during our sessions. To support their development, I encourage
my players to try and be creative, showing their new skills at training and in our
matches.
Independent Decision Makers - Developing Speed of Thought
7. Players are encouraged to be creative, making decisions in the moment with
regards to where they should try certain skills, for example. They should be
independent decision makers especially when our team have the ball. However,
without the ball, they should show desire to regain possession and awareness to
apply pressure.
Endorsements
"I am more than happy to endorse Tom. He has over 5 years coaching experience
and has been with Sale United FC for three seasons, he has also been working with
me for two (2) seasons. Tom had a stroke when he was a teenager which resulted
in him losing mobility on one side of his body. To overcome this and achieve what
he has achieved is really inspiring to not just myself and the other coaches that he
works with, but he is a real inspiration to the players"
