Fast and Furious 6 is the sixth installment in the Fast and Furious franchise. It follows Dominic Toretto and his crew as they work with law enforcement agent Luke Hobbs to take down a team of mercenary led by Owen Shaw. The film uses surrealist, linear and open-ending narrative structures along with flashbacks. It was a financial success, grossing over $788 million worldwide.

Open Ending:
- Although the narrative in the film reaches a conclusion, a
new narrative which links in with the storyline in this film begins at the end of
the movie. This Implies that there will be a sequel to this film.
Flashbacks are also used. They are presented with a lower grade film with an
over exposed style. This communicates to the audience the fact that it is a
flashback; it differentiates from the present.

6. Narrative
The narrative of this film is a continuation on from 4 of the previous movies but is
however a prequel to one of the earlier films; Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift.
Agent Luke Hobbs has been tracking a man by the name of Owen Shaw; a former
marine now turned criminal and his team. Using his past with Dominic Toretto and his
crew, he recruits them into helping him catch Shaw. He does this by showing Dominic
a photo of his girlfriend, whom was thought to have died but is alive and well and a
member of Owen Shaw’s crew. As a result Toretto and his team agree to help on the
condition that they all receive full pardons and can return home and be a family.
Hobbs and the team track down Shaw’s crew to London where they are trying to
acquire a piece of technology which they can sell on for a big pay day. By using their
knowledge of cars and the streets, Toretto and crew take on Shaw. However, they later
find out that Shaw had been playing them from the start and knew all their moves
from an inside man. Shaw however does feel threatened by Toretto, so kidnaps
Dominic’s sister Mia as insurance, so that his plan goes smoothly. This was a mistake as
it gives Toretto and his crew enough fuel to take Shaw down.

Dominic Toretto is the head of the Toretto family and has a reputation as a
street racer; his motto is ‘ride or die’. He is involved in truck hijacking. His
moral code is family and he will always protect them.
- Brian O’Connor (Played Paul Walker)
Brian O’Connor is a former cop that went undercover into the Toretto
family. During this time he started a relationship with Dominic Toretto’s
sister, Mia, and bonded with the family over his love of cars and street
racing.

- Agent Luke Hobbs (Played by Dwayne Johnson)
Agent Luke Hobbs works for the FBI as an elite officer that tracks and
brings in the criminals that no one else can catch. He believes in right and
wrong and through this he eventually teams up with the Toretto team to
take down a mutual enemy.
- Owen Shaw (Played by Luke Evans)
Owen Shaw is a former elite solider who turns against the law to become
a criminal who deals in drugs and weapons. He believes in precision and
lives by that code.

9. Technical
Lighting: Harsh lighting is used which when combined with the warm hues
from the street/ night life communicates dramatic and fast paced sequences. It
also adds to the sense of danger and suspense.
Camera angles: Fast and Furious 6 uses multiple camera angles –

Editing: the editing was slick and methodical. It was used to amplify the stunts
and explosive scenes, so as to communicate a feeling of being there.
