Main focus of the training was on Understanding Children’s
and adolescents behavior as communication, Understanding
Transference & Countertransference, Therapeutic Work with
Parents & Infant, Managing Difficult Behaviour, Development
Issues: Early, Mid- and Late Adolescence, Growing up as a
Teenager in Bangladesh, Therapy with Traumatized Children
of Different ages, including re-enactment of early trauma and
current trauma in adolescence, ……
That training was really effective training especially for
those who are working with children or in school setting

We feel that we need more vast training on

Bangladesh.

32. Feedback from one of the participants
Nazme Ara, Clinical Psychologist, BD,
May, 2018
I am very fortunate that I got the oppirtunity to participate the
skills traing level-2 by NHS-DU link. it is very very helpful for
me for my professional and personal life as it was a experincial
one! Every point/component/word is certainly very important for
me. Training is not only helpful for family and couple sessions
but also for the individual sessions! It is beneficial for BD
context where we all belongs to a family and family
relationships are very significant for us in our culture.
…….
For me(and us, I think) the links attempts is a new
window. It is bringing valuable knowledge for mental
health professional. I think regular supervision, learning
journal group and advance training shoud be arranged for
the continuation and growth for us as trainee and to
become competent as family therapist. This core group
can spread the learning to the other practitioners and
general public(which should be the ultimate goal and
success?). So of course the fellowship should go on for
better future of MENTAL HEALTH in BD. I wish this will go
on and more new windows will be opened……..

Editor's Notes
We are currently providing SFT at
Dr. Nasirullah Psychotherapy Unit, Clinical Psychology Department, Dhaka University
National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)
Community-health Rehabilitation Education and awareness clinic
Monobikash Foundation, a clinic in Dhaka for outpatients.
In few other private clinics in Dhaka
In one clinic in Rajshahi.
We use SFT on it’s own and also are integrating some techniques of SFT in our regular Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.
Monthly 2 hours supervision through video conference at Dhaka University, Rajshahi University virtual classroom and London
with Supervisors Glenda Fredman, Shila Rashid, Philip Messent. Use of modern technology and cooperation from University wiped out physical distance between supervisors and supervisees.
SFT supervision is also done in monthly Peer Supervision arranged by Bangladesh Clinical Psychology Society (BCPS), the professional body of Clinical Psychologists of Bangladesh.
Farah Deeba (started from my office, three members attended)
Found better online classroom at VC of DU’s office and applied for that to use. Including Raj Uni
