- 3. Existing Product Front Cover Masthead:The front cover masthead is a very unusual and almost unreadable font as is blends into the feature article image as it uses the same colours and style. The font is in another language so I’m unable to read what the title is. However the masthead font matches the theme of the fanzine being rock/grunge. Feature Article Image: very similar to the masthead, the theme of the image links extremely well to rock/grunge with the graffiti style or aft. The colours also match the masthead font as well as the menu strip. Menu Strip: the menu strip goes horizontal along the right hand side naming all the bands that are featured in the magazine. The bands included are Nirvana, Lemonheads, Deity Guns and others. The font of the menu strip is in the style of the bands logos making the bands more easily recognizable. Double Page Spread Text Font and images: The double page spread text font is a type writer style making the fanzine look more formal compared to the rest of the fanzine. However the rest of the images in the fanzine creates a contrast with the messy drawings around the pages which links to the feature article image style and Masthead font. Different from usual magazine designs, the double page spread doesn't contain page numbers.

- 5. Existing Product Front Cover Masthead:The masthead of this fanzine is a lot simpler compared to the others as it’s a simple font with rounded edges rather that sharp edges. The masthead is in black and white which I've noticed in a few of the fanzines as they use three colours, In this fanzine the colours being black, white and orange. Feature Article Image: The same goes for the feature article images as the drawing are a lot less detailed and quite simplistic. The style is similar to that of a drawing of a child or in a really edgy and almost minimalistic design using a lot of straight designs and curls especially in the hair on the lady and the shape of the tigers head and body. Double Page Spread Text Font and image: The double page uses the same style of drawing to the front cover, however it also includes photos. The drawing style to the photos in very isometric and contains a lot of straight lines with a few curly lines. It uses the same three color pallet of white, black and orange. The photo however is in monochrome which works well with the rest of the magazine. The font used is consistent throughout the quote on the page, however for the rest of the text on the page it’s a lot more formal and tidy. Unlike magazines, this fanzine doesn’t have page numbers as I believe that it’s a lot shorter than a usual magazine and that’s why. Same as the drawings the text also uses the same color scheme black and orange.

- 7. Existing Product Front Cover Masthead:The masthead in this fanzine is a lot more defined and stands out compared to some of the others on here. The masthead uses a very punk rock font seen in a variety of old punk rock albums, poster and merchandise. This allows the audience to easily identify the genre of the magazine. The colour scheme used is very simple being black, white and pink/purple. The black on white really allows the text to stand out from the pink and the rest of the background. Feature Article Image: The feature article images is a more punk version of the famous painting (The Scream) by Edvard Munch. Yet again the pink, white and black really allows the artwork stand out from the rest of the magazine front cover. Menu Strip: The menu strip in this fanzine is a few lines of text in the top right of the magazine however the fact that I cant read them doesn’t make the rest of the magazine any less understandable as the masthead, Symbols and feature article image are still recognizable in all languages Double Page Spread Text Font and image: The text in this double page spread and including all the images look hand drawn in a very cool and almost creepy style. The use of black and white rather than colour also help to justify this as the faces in the left hand side of the fanzine to the chained up person on the right hand side. The hand writing style of test along side the chained man helps create that creepy style I was talking about earlier.
- 8. Research summary • Summarisewhat you have learned about fanzines. When researching fanzines, I have learned that although they’re not magazines, they do share a lot of common techniques. These techniques include, masthead, feature article image and menu strip. I’ve also noticed that in all the ones I’ve looked at have a three colour colour scheme, Mostly black and white. Depending on the style and theme of the fanzine the font changes accordingly. If you look at the 6th fanzine “Punk Rock” the font mimics the style of the art, hand drawn and very uneven. This is also the same for the third fanzine. Fanzines contain a large amount of images with a small amount with some images taken up the entire page. When it come time to create

- 10. Idea 1 (Punk Rock1970’s-1980’s) Sexuality was also an important aspect of punk. Allowing people to create explicitly outward identities. Punk rock was popular around the 1970’s with bands such as: The Sex Pistols. The Clash, The Jam, Ramones, The Cure, Pil and many more. Punk was always very anti establishment and I wish to convey this in the fanzine. The written elements of the magazine would include interviews with band members from popular at the time (1970’s to 1980’s) Punk rock inspired a wave of rebellion throughout the United States and UK, from drugs and alcohol abuse, Ideologies, visual art to fashion and other form of expression. Fashion and style was a large part to the punk subculture of the 1970’s. This includes offensive T- shirts, leather jackets, Dr. Martens and much more. This also includes hairstyles like the Mohawks and colored hair, tattoos, jewelry and body modifications. Punk are frequently seen as left-wing enthusiasts, such as revolutionary, anarchists progressive views. However unfortunately you have the right-wing Neo Nazi punks. For this fanzine I could create fake events, interviews and include images taken at real life event from the time. The design would be that similar to the style of ’God Save The Queen’ Album by the ’Sex Pistols’.

Idea 2 (conspiracies) Conspiracies: • Reptilians •Illuminati • Aliens • 9/11 • Paul Is dead • Area 51 • Earth is flat • Bermuda triangle • Moon landing • Loch Ness monster • Fairies • Holocaust deniers • Jesus married Mary A conspiracy theory is an explanation of an event or situation that Invokes a conspiracy. Generally carried about by governments or other powerful people without credible evidence. I shall be writing about a range of conspiracy theories or maybe even focus on just a single theory. I could include an interview with experts on the theories and include photographic ‘evidence’. The interviews could be based on real people like David Icke who strongly believes that reptilians are secretly controlling and/or playing powerful world leaders. Or write an article pretending to be a theorist and include my thoughts and feeling on the different conspiracy theories. The style of the fanzine could be that of x-files containing first hand reports of the incident as if I were there with a kind of official FBI look with new times roman font.
- 12. Idea 3 (Final Fantasy) FinalFantasy is a science fiction and fantasy media franchise created by Hironobu Sakaguchi, and developed and owned by Square Enix (formerly Square). The franchise centres on a series of fantasy and science fantasy role-playing video games (RPGs). The first game in the series, published in 1987, was conceived by Sakaguchi as his last-ditch effort in the game industry; it was a success and spawned sequels. The series has since branched into other genres such as tactical role-playing, action role-playing, massively multiplayer online role-playing, racing, third-person shooter, fighting, and rhythm. The franchise has also branched out into other media, including CGI films, anime, manga, and novels. In the fanzine, I shall be talking about how the games evolved over the years including its transformation from a Nes game to movies, anime, manga and novels. I shall also be including, drawings, sketches, game play images and my personal opinion on the series. Along side that I shall also be taking my own Images of final fantasy products that I have, including the Vinyl soundtrack, the wonder swan retro console, final fantasy I and II for the wonder swan, art books, manga and figures. I will most likely focus on the history of the games starting from the beginning and continue to the most recent game and the mmorpgs. I shall be writing about important information from the lore of final fantasy and include profiles for important and popular characters to information on the creators and developers.
