Introduction
.
The V-G meter is a rotational type viscometer in
which the fluid is contained between coaxial
cylinders.
Rheology and hydraulics are interrelated studies of
fluid behaviour. Fluid rheology and hydraulics are
engineering terms that describe the behaviour of
fluids in motion. Rheology is the science of
deformation and flow of matter. Primarily
concerned with the relationship between shear
stress and shear rate and the impact they have on
fluid flow characteristics inside tabular and
annular spaces. Hydraulic on the other hand deal
with the mechanical properties of liquids.
.
4. PROCEDURE
1- We put ( 400 ml) of water with a (15 gm) of
bentonite and mix them for a 1min in the mixing
device.
2- Then we put the mixture ( Mud ) in the inner
cylinder and put it into the outer cylinder and
attached in the fann Vg –meter.
3 - Then we put the speed selection knob on the
( 600rpm) and wait for the Dial reading of Vg-
meter to stabilize and record the reading.
4-We do the same process but with a speed of
( 300rpm) for the speed selection knob and record
the reading.
6. Discussion
We notice that at a 30gm of bentonite
the value of the µp , µa, yp increased
more than the value of the 15gm of
bentonite .
So we conclude that the relationship
between ( µp , µa, yp ) and the weight of
mud is a positive correlation.
