This document contains a family tree listing the names and birth/living dates of the submitter's ancestors including grandparents, great grandparents, and great great grandparents on both their mother and father's side. 11. 1) My family is very diverse in the sense that both of my parents
originate from two totally different places. My mother is Colombian and
my father is Polish.
2) Both of my ancestors from both sides of my family moved from
their native land to come to North America because they were
searching for a better way of living. They wanted to create a life that
their future generations could live in and have no struggles in life. From
my dads side of the family my great grandfather left Poland back in
the 1930s, and on my mom side of the family she was the only one to
come to America in 1988.
3) The hardships my ancestors went through was the fact that they
came here blindly not knowing what to expect and starting from
scratch. They had to take any job offered to them and struggle to
make a living. They had each other so that helped them continue
pushing for a better life when things seemed out of reach.
Fortunately, my family did not go through any prejudice experiences.

12. 1) On both sides of my family my Great Grandfathers had their own business in
construction. It has influenced some of my Uncles in the sense that they now run the
business. However, neither my mom nor my father decided to keep that family
tradition. My mother went to school for communications and my father joined the air
force and later got his Bachelors in Criminal Justice.
1) My ancestors spoke English, Spanish, and Polish. All three of these languages have
remained in remained in m family and used on a daily basis.
1) In my family we do a couple things that have remained special amongst my family
members. For example, right after the New Year at midnight every one has to grab a
luggage and run around the block. This is suppose to bring you a year filled with
traveling. On Christmas Eve we have a huge party and every sibling has to out on a
show for the whole family to see.

13. 7) What I know behind the meaning of my family name is that my real last name was
originally Brzoska. My Great Great Grandfather was the one who decided to
change our last name to one that sounded more “English” to him and that is why
my last name is now Brosky. The meaning of my last name is “Birch Tree”. In
1575 my ancestor was the ruler of a city named Bielsk and his name was Jerzy
Brzoska . From here my family flourished for many years until my father
grandfather decided to go on a search for something new, and that’s when he
came to America.
8) The experiences my family went through are similar to those that many have
gone through in the sense that they were all searching for a better way of life.
They came to the America’s and struggled to get the achievements they have
now achieved. They pushed forward no matter the struggle and kept their heads
up when it seemed like their was no light at the end of the tunnel.
9) This exercise was very easy for me to do because I am very close to all my
family members so retrieving all the information I needed was not difficult. On
the other hand another student might have had a lot of trouble doing this
exercise if they are not close to their family members. There are many cases in
which the student is either only close to the immediate family, or there are also
other situations in which the student for whatever reason no longer speaks to
their family so retrieving this sort of information is not easy. As a teacher I
could have modified this exercise for the student by first hearing out the
situation and depending on the students circumstance allow the student to
