Happy Heavenly Birthday
FATHER’S DAY
Warm and sunny day in June,
Father’s Day,
Children, small and grown,
Give gifts to father
Say thanks to father,
Say I love you.
But there are fathers
Whose children are not here
To give gifts and say thanks
And I love you.
Remember the fathers
Whose children are gone,
Because they will always be
Fathers at heart.

6. On June 2-4, 2023—National Gun Violence Awareness Day—people across the country will
#WearOrange & come together to call attention to the gun violence crisis that takes more than 110
lives and wounds hundreds more in the US every single day. Learn more at wearorange.org. We
wear orange to call for an end to gun violence in all of its forms, including domestic
violence, suicide, and city gun violence. During National Gun Violence Awareness Day
and Wear Orange Weekend, honor survivors of gun violence by participating online and in
your community.
The Inspiration for Wear Orange
Orange is the color that Hadiya Pendleton’s friends wore in her
honor when she was shot and killed in Chicago at the age of 15—
just one week after performing at President Obama’s 2nd inaugural
parade in 2013. After her death, they asked us to stand up, speak
out, and Wear Orange to raise awareness about gun violence.
Since then, orange has been the defining color of the gun violence
prevention movement. Whether it’s worn by students in Montana,
activists in New York, or Hadiya’s loved ones in Chicago, the color
orange honors the more than 110 lives cut short and the hundreds
more wounded by gun violence every day.

The Compassionate Friends (TCF) 46th Annual National Conference in Denver!
July 7 -8am – July 9 – 5pm TCF's National Conference is an enriching and supportive
event for many newer and long-time bereaved parents, grandparents, and siblings.
Attendees come and find renewed hope and support, as well as strategies for coping
with grief, all while making friendships with other bereaved people who truly
understand the heartbreaking loss of a child, sibling, or grandchild. Lifelong
friendships are often formed and rekindled each year at TCF conferences.
Unique and cherished highlights of our conference include our heartfelt Saturday
evening Candle Lighting Program, Sharing Sessions, Keynote Addresses, Healing
Haven, Butterfly Boutique, Crafty Corner, and Silent Auction. Our weekend of
inspiration, sharing, and learning is followed by the Walk to Remember on Sunday
morning.
This year’s conference will be held at the Sheraton Denver Downtown. Reservations
can now be made online at TCF’s dedicated reservation link. Our discounted room rate
with the Sheraton is $159 per night plus tax. Please note that each attendee can reserve
a maximum of two rooms. Many attendees arrive on Thursday since the conference
begins early on Friday morning. We also have pre-conference activities that are offered
on Thursday evening, that attendees find beneficial.
8. "Survivors of Violent Loss Program"
In late 2022 became the
"Violent Loss Solutions"
Violent Loss Solutions program is a life preserver for many co-victims. They deserve the
kind of specialized support required after the loss of someone in an unnatural, violent way.
It is heartbreaking to lose someone dear to you. Life as it was known becomes shattered.
When someone you love has been murdered or died in a violent way, it is truly
devastating. Beginning in 1998, the “Survivors of Violent Loss Program” in San Diego
began along with the support of many in the community. In late 2022 the “Survivors of
Violent Loss Program” became “Violent Loss Solutions” a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit
organization.
The new website www.vloss.org is home for "Violent Loss Solutions". It is our virtual
office for those who live and work with violent death. This National resource provides
information, resources, training, and opportunities for networking with others.
The Mission of this site is to provide a lifeline of hope and healing, addressing
the issues of traumatic grief for those who work to rebuild their life after a
homicide, suicide, drunk driving, or terrorist fatality.
