With collaboration at their heart, agile teams are best placed to promote inclusion. How can we extend agile practices to place conscious attention on creating connections and to build truly healthy, demographically representative teams?
Employment Equity Presentation
Employment equity in South Africa aims to promote fair employment practices and remedy past discrimination. Companies with 50+ employees or meeting certain turnover thresholds must submit annual employment equity reports to avoid fines and ensure BBBEE points. The reports analyze workforce representation and set goals to achieve equitable representation of designated groups - black people, women, and those with disabilities - based on the relevant provincial economically active population demographics. Compliance requires assigning responsibility, consultation, planning goals and policies, submitting required reports, and ongoing monitoring and review of the employment equity plan.

In the last few years, this social media avenue has become familiar for employees and employers to connect with others. In addition, it has been used to relay messages about careers, personal information, highlights, negatives, and important news of people or groups, such as nurses. In saying that, LinkedIn has the power of helping or hurting your reputation as a nurse. People in groups can comment and discuss your performance and if it is negative, such as being put on suspension for coming to work under the influence, your future will be in jeopardy, due to exposure of this information.
The media can negatively influence the public’s perspective of nursing by what is exposes. For example, many people have heard of the show Grey’s Anatomy. On this show, there is a cast of good looking nurses and doctors, that have romantic relationships with one another, and even perform sexual acts in the hospital setting. It is full of drama and non-realistic expectations and scenarios nurses face. So, when many people around the world gather to watch this show, they assume that this drama is what nursing entails. On the contrary, there are guidelines to dating and especially, performing sexual acts on the job at the job location. Another example, would be how nurses are still viewed as sexy icons. During Halloween, there are multiple sexy costumes of nurses that portray nursing idealizations of the past. Nursing has come so far, yet, there are some who will visualize the ‘sexiness’ of nursing due to the images they have been exposed to. A last example, of how media can affect nursing reputation poorly, is the news media. People all over the world turn on the television to stay informed on what is happening around the world. Recently, there has been the subject if the Zika Virus. Many news stations and radio stations have discussed the disease, ways to minimize acquiring the virus and so on. I listened to a radio station that was talking about mothers moving away from Miami, in fear of becoming pregnant or being pregnant and giving birth to a child with defects, due to the disease. All the show did was scare me and make me want to flee Miami! At the end of the day media affects society and their perspectives.
Other than social media, there are medical and nursing journals that educate people on nursing, such as the American Nursing Journal. In addition, there are newspapers and newsletters, that can be found in the community or hospitals to highlight achievements or stories that have positive.

Il momento è adesso: al designer che vuole affrontare oggi il mondo della sanità è richiesto di osservare dinamiche sociali, economiche, politiche, e scientifiche e di sapersi relazionare con esse in modo etico, per poter davvero progettare una migliore qualità di vita.

doesn’t call it AI. They call it “cognitive computing.” Tell us why that is.
Ginni Rometty: I have actually had to explain this to my husband
as well, because he said to me, “Ginni, of all words, why cognitive?” It
was really a very thoughtful decision. The world calls it AI. There’s so
much fearmongering about AI. When we started over a decade ago,
the idea was to help you and I make better decisions amid cognitive
overload. That’s what has always led us to cognitive. If I considered the
initials AI, I would have preferred augmented intelligence. It’s the idea
that each of us are going to need help on all important decisions. I’m
always reminded of an interesting statistic: When you’re asked what
percentage of your decisions are right, what percentage would you get?
What would it be?
A study said on average that a third of your decisions are really
great decisions, a third are not optimal, and a third are just wrong.
We’ve estimated the market is $2 billion for tools to make better deci-
sions. That’s what led us all to really calling it cognitive and getting

Il momento è adesso: al designer che vuole affrontare oggi il mondo della sanità è richiesto di osservare dinamiche sociali, economiche, politiche, e scientifiche e di sapersi relazionare con esse in modo etico, per poter davvero progettare una migliore qualità di vita.

doesn’t call it AI. They call it “cognitive computing.” Tell us why that is.
Ginni Rometty: I have actually had to explain this to my husband
as well, because he said to me, “Ginni, of all words, why cognitive?” It
was really a very thoughtful decision. The world calls it AI. There’s so
much fearmongering about AI. When we started over a decade ago,
the idea was to help you and I make better decisions amid cognitive
overload. That’s what has always led us to cognitive. If I considered the
initials AI, I would have preferred augmented intelligence. It’s the idea
that each of us are going to need help on all important decisions. I’m
always reminded of an interesting statistic: When you’re asked what
percentage of your decisions are right, what percentage would you get?
What would it be?
A study said on average that a third of your decisions are really
great decisions, a third are not optimal, and a third are just wrong.
We’ve estimated the market is $2 billion for tools to make better deci-
sions. That’s what led us all to really calling it cognitive and getting

QRS Complex:
•QRS’ complex is also called the initial ventricular complex.
•‘Q’ wave is a small negative wave. It is continued as the tall ‘R’ wave, which is a positive wave.
‘R’ wave is followed by a small negative wave, the ‘S’ wave.
Cause:Ventricular depolarization and atrial repolarization
Duration: 0.08- 0.10 sec
T Wave:
•‘T’ wave is the final ventricular complex and is a positive wave.
Cause:Ventricular repolarization Duration: 0.2 sec
Intervals and Segments of ECG:
P-R Interval:
•‘P-R’ interval is the interval
between the onset of ‘P’wave and onset of ‘Q’ wave.
•‘P-R’ interval cause atrial depolarization and conduction of impulses through AV node.
Duration:0.18 (0.12 to 0.2) sec
Q-T Interval:
•‘Q-T’ interval is the interval between the onset of ‘Q’
wave and the end of ‘T’ wave.
•‘Q-T’ interval indicates the ventricular depolarization
and ventricular repolarization,
i.e. it signifies the
electrical activity in ventricles.
Duration:0.4-0.42sec
S-T Segment:
•‘S-T’ segment is the time interval between the end of ‘S’ wave and the onset of ‘T’ wave.
Duration: 0.08 sec
R-R Interval:
•‘R-R’ interval is the time interval between two consecutive ‘R’ waves.
•It signifies the duration of one cardiac cycle.
Duration: 0.8 sec

Facial difference (Disfigurement) and diversity inclusion in South Africa

- 4. Not all facial differences can be rectified with surgery and neglected patients Often spend their lives in social isolation. Facial differences have not been clearly defined for disability rights in South Africa and globally.
- 5. I disfigured my face when I was 25 years old, from a car accident. I spent the next 10 years rectifying facial damage because I couldn't find online resources like doctors websites as well as education about the surgery I needed. This is a global problem in healthcare.
- 6. After 9 years of failed surgery, MRSA and three death scares, I decided that enough was enough. I compiled an overview of my medical history and emailed it overseas to the best surgeons in the world asking for advice.
- 8. Once my surgery was complete, I began to advocate globally about all the issues I had experienced.
- 9. Keeping up with emerging technology locally was possible if an ecosystem was developed correctly. This could help many patients who are socially unacceptable.
- 10. We must change our mindset if we want a globally competitive South African economy We underestimate people who society perceive as “less” (Less; young, skinny, beautiful, confident, sophisticated, successful, wealthy, abled, qualified...) We don't address disfigurement enough because of stigma (“Many think disfigurement is too weird and it's ignored”) We “stereotype diversity” True diversity is fully inclusive. We need to look #BeyondTheLabel
