Facebook was created by Mark Zuckerberg in 2004 as a social networking site to connect people and allow them to share photos, videos, and information. It has since grown tremendously, with millions of daily users uploading content and keeping in touch with friends. Mark Zuckerberg began programming and creating communication tools from a young age, and started Facebook while a student at Harvard by hacking into the school's network to copy photos for a student directory site. Facebook has continued to evolve and update its features over time, and now generates billions in revenue through advertising as the dominant social media platform, aiming to connect every person globally through social networking in the future.

• Mark Elliot Zuckerberg
(born May 14, 1984) is an American
computer programmer and Internet
entrepreneur.
• He is best known for co-creating the
social networking site Facebook, of
which he is chief executive and president. It
was co-founded as a private company in 2004
by Zuckerberg and classmates Dustin
Moskovitz, Eduardo Saverin, and Chris Hughes
while they were students at Harvard
University.In 2010, Zuckerberg was named
Time magazine's Person of the Year. As of 2011,
his personal wealth was estimated to be
$17.5 billion.
• Zuckerberg began using computers and writing
software as a child in middle school.
Zuckerberg also took a graduate course in the
subject at Mercy College near his home while
he was still in high school. He enjoyed
developing computer programs, especially
communication tools and games.

8. FACEBOOK..once upon a time…
• Mark Zuckerberg wrote Facemash, the predecessor to Facebook, on
October 28, 2003, while attending Harvard as a sophomore. According to
The Harvard Crimson, the site was comparable to Hot or Not, and "used
photos compiled from the online facebooks of nine houses, placing two
next to each other at a time and asking users to choose the 'hotter'
person".
• To accomplish this, Zuckerberg hacked into the protected areas of
Harvard's computer network and copied the houses' private dormitory ID
images. Harvard at that time did not have a student "facebook" (a
directory with photos and basic information). Facemash attracted 450
visitors and 22,000 photo-views in its first four hours online.
• Facebook launched a high-school version in September 2005, which
Zuckerberg called the next logical step. At that time, high-school networks
required an invitation to join. Facebook later expanded membership
eligibility to employees of several companies, including Apple Inc. and
Microsoft. Facebook was then opened on September 26, 2006, to
everyone of age 13 and older with a valid email address.

day, facebook have evolved much recently
facebook has updated his profile view with the
Timeline feature.
• At present with a revenue of about 4.27 $
billion and 700 billion + active users . It has
grown his roots in the field of social networking
to that extent that all other Social Networking
sites has got dumped.

Big companies and firms are already fixing their
different deals with facebook, even the facebook has
already paired up with companies like Apple, Google,
Android, etc.
• In future, Facebook is planning to reach and connect
