Mark Zuckerberg was born in 1984 in New York and showed an early talent for programming. He created several programs as a child including a messaging program called "Zucknet" for his family. He attended Harvard where he launched Facebook from his dorm room in 2004. Facebook originally started as only for Harvard students but quickly expanded to other colleges and eventually became a global social network open to everyone. Zuckerberg dropped out of Harvard to focus on Facebook full-time and has since grown it into one of the largest and most used social media platforms in the world. He remains the CEO of Facebook and is one of the richest and most influential people as a result of its success.
