•   Creating an Account
       It is the first step to join Facebook social network. Creating an account is
       considered as creating an unique identity for you on the network including
       your name, birthday, password, email..ect.
       These information should help others to find and identify you on the network.
       To create your own account, follow the instructions in the link below:
       https://www.facebook.com/help/createaccount


       Lab Task:

       Create a new account on Facebook if you don't have an account.


   •   Basic Privacy Controls
       After creating your account, you should adjust your privacy on the network.
       Otherwise, the network should assign a public privacy policy for you by
       default. This means that your account will be visible and searchable for
       everyone on the network. Leaving your account as is indicates that you are not
       realizing the natural of social network environment. To set your privacy
       controls, follow the instructions in the link below:

       Lab Task:

       Set your privacy controls to hide your basic info such as your email,
       birthday,…ect, except for your friends.


   •   Account settings
       After creating your account, you may need to adjust your account settings
       such as changing your Name, Username, Email, Password, and Language.
       Also you can edit Security, Notifications, Mobile, Apps and Payments
       settings. To set your account settings, follow the instructions in the link below:

       Lab Task:

       Set your Facebook account language to Arabic and switch it back to your
       preferable language.

•   Creating your society
       The main idea behind any social network is building up relationships between
       people. These could be identical reflection of the real relationships, or just
       electronic online relationships.
       To build up your own society by finding your friends, adding them, or
       deleting/blocking them, follow the instructions in the link below:

       Lab Task:

       Find and add me (Tahani Fourah) on Facebook.


   •   Sharing information with others
       It is not just about creating a society; Social Networking is about sharing
       knowledge with others. Facebook invents a new term to represent sharing
       knowledge through the network. This term is called a wall. To know more
       about wall, visit the link below:

       To help users sharing knowledge among each others, Facebook social network
       provides them with four communication and sharing tools:
           o Post
               Posting on the wall is the only way to create a new material on
               Facebook. You may add the following information on the post:
                      Who are with you?
                      Where are you?
                      Audience who will see the post
           o Share
               If you want to share others' posts, click share which is found below the
               post.
           o Comment
               If you want to comment on others' posts, click comment which is
               found below the post.
           o Like
               If you want to express your admiration on a post, click like which is
               found below the post.


       Lab Task:

       In cooperation with one of your friends, Post a proverb on your wall, and set
       the audience to Friends of Friends.

       One of the recent features added to Facebook, The Timeline is considered one
       of the greatest tools to update your status, view and add photos, Jump to
       stories from your past, and View a log of your Facebook activity. By the time,
       your timeline represents your historical activities on the network.
