  • #5 Important of ERP systems like SAPEnterprise systems such as SAP are the mission critical transactional backbone of the vast majority of enterprises today. There is tremendous efficiency to be gained from automating core business processes. SAP solutions excel at this.Challenges with ERP systemsHowever, such systems like SAP also have a set of challenges for both the business side of the house and the technical/IT side of the house. For example, one of the feedback that you hear from IT organizations is that SAP can be too brittle and complex and costly to keep up with business changes. Another common feedback: Custom solutions add complexity to the IT landscape. And of course: Lack of user adoption of Enterprise systems lowers the overall return on IT investments.On the Business side, the challenges are often associated to not be able to do their jobs properly because they don’t have access to the data and have to rely on either a core set of skilled power users or IT and unfortunately, IT being slow in addressing the needs of their business units. Also, many IT solutions are not “intuitive” for some of the end users.Strategic Intent for Duet Enterprise: how it helps mitigate some of the challengesDuet Enterprise bridge the gap between IT and Business Users or Departments to enable them to fulfill their needs around SAP without having to engage IT for every single requests (e.g. reports, collaboration on business data etc.). Bottom line is that the type of SAP content or solutions that you build can be exposed in SharePoint or Office.In addition, this content can also be taken offline. For example, SAP content expose in Outlook as Contacts or Tasks for example can be taken offline. External Lists or Reports can also be taken offline using SharePoint Workspace.
