This document describes a study that generated an annual typical daily wind speed for heights between 4 and 10 meters in urban Armidale, NSW, Australia. It utilized a previously developed typical wind speed reference year based on 20 years of wind speed data from Armidale Airport Weather Station measured at 10 meters height. A numerical method was applied using equations that model how wind speed decreases with height in urban environments due to surface roughness. This involved calculating wind speed reduction factors based on urban terrain type. The method was used to estimate wind speeds at heights of 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, and 4 meters from the reference 10 meter data to provide information useful for micro-scale wind energy systems operating at those heights.
