2. The organization is NatyaManthan, a combination of 2
words “Natya” & “Manthan” which roughly translates
into Theatre & Reflection respectively.

4. • I used to earn money working as a trek
leader and used it to fund my plays.
• Without any formal education or family
background in the field of dramatics,
writing and directing was completely new
to me.
• Building a team was an exciting challenge
and I managed to put together a team of
around 15 like minded individuals for the
1st performance.
• We’ve always had a very good response to
all of our plays, with an average attendance
of about 450 people per show.

9. • Theatre provides various opportunities to
learn the art of self-awareness, self-discipline,
self-confidence and public speaking.
• It helps you relax and get over negative
emotions like anger, anxiety, tension and
worry.
• Over the years, with experience, we’ve started
conducting workshops for varied audience to
promote personality development through
theatre.
• We use games, visual-aids, physical exercises
to make the process absorbing and delightful.
10. • I had a chance to work with
various NGOs and conduct such
activities for the lower strata of
the society as well.
• One such instance was working
with “Teach for India”, a
nationwide movement to bridge
the educational inequality in the
country.
• I also designed special
workshops for students, to help
them express themselves
through art which was a
fantastic experience as we have
to improvise our methods on-
the-go.
12. • Right from directing a play to being in charge of an organization, Theatre has boosted my self-confidence.
• Taking risks and performing in front of an audience has taught me to trust my ideas and abilities.
Self Confidence
• The process of moving from ideas to actions to performance has taught me the value of perseverance and practice.
• Being punctual at theatre practices showcases that you respect your work and other team members as well.
Discipline & Punctuality
• All the plays I wrote, were based on social issues that youth face, which required a lot of research.
• It has helped me understand other’s feelings and different viewpoints.
Social Awareness
• Theatre provided me with an outlet for making creative choices, thinking new ideas, and interpreting the material
in expressive ways.
• The creative process has helped me develop creative problem solving abilities as well.
Imagination
• Theatre has made me a better listener.
• I often had to be patient to listen and solve problems of all the members.

13. • Being the director and the founder member of the organization, I not only enhanced my skills but also
helped other team-members better themselves.
• I was exposed to a lot of responsibility at a very young age. The people I recruited helped me execute
various critical tasks when I tapped in to their individual expertise.
Leadership
• In Theatre, it’s important that each individual supports the others involved.
• It is a co-operative process which includes discussing and negotiating with your team members to
best portray the meaning behind a given scene.
Team-Work
• Having funded the plays myself, I had to look after various aspects of, e.g., production costs,
advertisement, with an aim to make a profit to be shared with all the stakeholders and players.
• This taught me basic budgeting, made me realize the importance of spending money wisely to have a
good return on a given investment
Financial Skills
14. • Pursuing dramatics, when I was studying to get my law degree taught be how to prioritize my time
while still being able to volunteer for NGOs.
• It was hard at first, but I had to learn to balance my studies and my passion.
Time Management
• Being the writer, director, and funder of plays, I took the responsibility when things did not go as
planned or when a play-critic had some harsh words regarding performance.
• My ability to listen to others have helped me take criticism in a positive way and accept responsibility
for any mistakes.
Willingness to accept responsibility
• Theatre work often demands long hours, with the stress of rehearsals, and working under
tight deadlines. It also required working with various dedicated teams that looked after
technical aspects and advertising.
• The ability to remain calm, poised under such pressure is a valuable asset that I’ve
developed to stay focused but flexible enough to get over hurdles quickly.
