Poster: Scientific Student Laboratory – Where You Will Get to Like Science
In cooperation with 18 partner institutions in the region we have been organizing laboratory sessions in the Szeged Regional Scientific Student Laboratory specially built for the University of Szeged since May 2013.
In addition to regular school projects, 6-18 year old students use the lab to participate in popular science and gifted education programmes. As a result of our efforts of learning materials development, the project leaders can choose from a wide range of topics. We supply all the equipment needed for the activities.

I took my school-age class on a nature walk on the outskirts of our very large school yard to discover what might be there. The children never use this part of the yard so it is open to new exploration.
The children were asked to find items that were tall, short, bumpy, smooth, small, new, colourful and so on. They found all kinds of different things on our walk and became very excited about their discoveries. The inquiries made on the walk made for additional research and projects with the children. This project was a wonderful experience for myself and the children involved.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

In Kindergarten Jelka we apply active learning
techniques and we enable children to learn
through their active participation and play.
We do a lot of experiments with them and here
are some of the most interesting examples.
11. EXPERIMENT –MIXING DIFFERENT FLUIDS
We have learned and experimented how different fluids and water mix. We tried out
mixing oil and other kind of fluids and substances and we have mixed them with water.
HOW CAN WE FIND DIFFERENCES
BETWEEN BASE AND ACID PROPERTIES
Mixing different substances and learning difference
between base and acid with colours.
We have cooked red cabbage with water and got red
cabbage sauce/fluid.
Into the cabbage fluid we have mixed different substances
such as lemon juice, vinegar, soda,…..
And look what magic we did. We have created different colours when adding acid and bases.
12. LEARNING ABOUT DIFFERENT FORMS OF
WATTER – LIQUID, ICE AND GAS
We explored water in different conditions
and we have discovered how it can be
liquid, ice or in gas condition
WATER CYCLE EXPERIMENT
13. In May 2014 preschool teachers Peter Pucelj and Nejc Bizant
prepared for children water cycle model and experiment.
We boiled water and observed turning in to steam, going up
the air and coming down in the form of raindrops.
Additionaly we learned about
water cycle also with help of smart
board and by observing nature.
EXPERIMENTS WITH AIR
Look what happens when we warm air in the bottle:
We learned that hot water goes up and cold down

We have explored sound and did sound experiments.
We made simple phone with plastic glases.
Do you know you can play on glasses? We had lots of fun
15. Experiments with fire – we have learned when fire burns
and when it does not.
We connected experiments with fire safety.

„Experiment with water“
Few days in our preschool together with children we try to check, how can
we use our water in our lessons, children experimented what material is
soluble in water, which material drowning or which material floating.
We have salt, sugar, semolina and sand to put into the water.
21. Children tried to give a colour for water, they put some drops
of paint into the water.
What drowns and what floats?
A car goes down...because...is heavy.
23. SCIENCE EXPERIMENT WITH WATER: “FLOAT OR SINK”
“Float or Sink” it is a science experiment that many kids have done by
the time. It was science activity, which we wanted to try how to float and
sink different things around us.
We gathered the materials to test and made our chart. Than we testing
and have the results. It’s so simple, and yet so fun.

EEXPERIMENTSXPERIMENTS WITHWITH CCHILDRENHILDREN
Children learn better by active participation and experimentation. By encouraging them to
make experiments, to observe, to compare the results and to draw conclusions they become
more aware and conscious the effects of the educational process. They become as well better
motivated to further activities.
EEXPERIMENTSXPERIMENTS WITHWITH WATERWATER
WWATERATER EEVAPORATIONVAPORATION
58. This experiment we found in Aftenposten Junior; a national weekly newspaper for children.
We conducted the experiment with students on the world water day. It is easy, but nice, and
makes the circle of life very visible to the children.
You need:
- a large bowl, in plastic or glass, it must be
see-through
- a small coffee cup
- plastic wrapping foil
- a rock
- scissors
- water
- a large rubber band (or
tape)
How to do it:
1. Place the bowl by a window with lots of
sun, or in another warm place. Put the cup in
the middle of the bowl and pour 1 cm of
water around the cup. Make sure you do not
get water inside the cup!
2. Put plastic wrapping foil over the bowl and
attach it with the rubber band or tape.
3. Put a rock on the foil to make a dent in the
middle.
4. Leave it in the sun
for one day (or more),
then remove the plastic
and look into the cup.
What happened?
There will be a little water in the bottom of
the cup.
The heat from the sun made some of the
water evaporate into an invisible gas. This
gas became liquid again when it reached the
cold plastic foil and it dripped into the cup.
