Einstein was born in Germany in 1879 and studied physics and mathematics. In 1905, he published four groundbreaking papers. One paper explained the photoelectric effect, which helped establish quantum theory. Another introduced special relativity and mass-energy equivalence. Einstein later developed his general theory of relativity, which revolutionized physics and astronomy. He won the Nobel Prize for his work on the photoelectric effect. Einstein also engaged in political causes and was an outspoken pacifist. He died in 1955 in Princeton at age 76.
