• Open source software is computer software whose source code
is available under a license (or arrangement such as the public
domain).
• That permits users to study, change, and improve the software.
• And to redistribute it in modified or unmodified firm.

6. EVERGREEN
Evergreen, highly-scalable software for libraries that helps library
patrons find library materials, and helps libraries manage, catalog,
and circulate those materials, no matter how large or complex the
libraries.

7. HISTORY
• Initiated by Georgia Public Library(GPL) 2004.
• Project was completed in September 5, 2006 for Public
Information Network for Electronic Services(PINES).
• First started with 252 libraries consortia
after 2 years number increased to 270.
• Adopted by libraries in US and Canada.

A drop down menu of items to be claimed and possible claim actions appears. Check the boxes adjacent to the item that you want to claim and the action that you will take. You can claim items that have not been received or cancelled.
Enter a Name and a Description (optional) for your bucket and click Create Bucket.
You can do many searches using the keyword search box on the opening “Welcome” or Portal screen. In addition to title, author, subject headings, and notes, many other fields in the MARC record are in the keyword index, including the TCN (Title Control Number), ISBN, UPC, and music number. Keep in mind that this is a keyword search that searches for the exact string of characters entered. If you search for a 13-digit ISBN the search is for that exact number and will not find the corresponding 10-digit number.
The Advanced Search screen contains multiple search boxes with keyword, title, and author entered as defaults. Drop-down menus offer other indexes. There are search filters to further refine the search, and the option to search a specific library. In addition you can filter by publication date and sort results by relevance (default), title, author, or date. There are also two additional tabs for Numeric Search and Expert Search and a link to Basic Search.
The Numeric Search tab contains a drop-down menu for several indexes including ISBN and OCLC number. When searching for ISBNs using this index, the system will “translate” a 13-digit ISBN into a 10- digit and vice-versa. There is also a drop-down menu to limit searching to a specific library, useful for call number browse.
The Expert Search tab provides boxes where you can enter and search for specific MARC tags. You can add additional MARC tags as needed. Here you can also limit by library.
Holds can be placed on either title results or search results page. If the item is available, it will be pulled from the shelf and held for you. If all copies at your local library are checked out, you will be placed on a waiting list and you will be notified when items become available.
You will need your library account user name and password. You may choose to be notified by phone or email.
