2. Question Two: How do your media
products represent particular social
groups?!
In my planning and research I decided that my
magazine was to be aimed at the younger more
outgoing generation and that to create this within
my magazine I need to create a younger vibe. To
do this within my music magazine I found quite
easy to appeal to a younger audience, using
contrasting colours that are ‘in’ within the fashion
industry and striking images that catch the eye of
the younger more indie/hip hop and outgoing
teens, I tried to do this by adding an old image
overlay on my main front piece, I also feel that I
represented a certain social group by the way in
which I dressed my model in the pictures, I placed
her in clothing that gave a girly look but then put it
with accessories like coats boots etc. that created
a heavy edgy indie social chic look so she then
didn't look so innocent and gave her a feel of
‘bad’ which appeals to most teenagers as they
look for someone who can give them something
new and a thrill to aspire to.
3. Question Four: Who would be the
audience for your media product?!
During my research and planning I
found that most music magazines are
aimed at the younger generation and
that would be what I aspire to aim to
target, a younger indie/hip hop image.
I hope to reach for this target audience
as I feel we, as teenagers do not get
enough good recognition and that the
media like to focus too much on our
bad point giving us a very bad
stereotype. I hope to change this
within my music magazine, by giving
others the chance to change from and
with my magazine. I aimed to give
them hope within my words and to be
able to aspire to be greater than
expected from out stereotypes in the
media industry.
4. Question Five: How did you
attract/address your audience?!
To attract my audience I used simple
images, and for my main image I placed an
overlay that created an old meaningful feel to
my front cover, with this I used contrasting
colours that in this edition , at the time of
production were the seasons hottest trends in
the fashion industry this will then attract the
more abstract audience I wish to address as
they want to be different and stand out. I also
used advertisements for free prizes to be won
on the front cover, every young teen looks to
find things for free or at a low price rate, its just
something we have learned to grow up with as
everything is becoming far too expensive. By
making teens feel like they are missing out on
something that they ‘need’ to know makes
them want to know more, which in turn
intrigues them to buy then read the music
magazine, so they feel like they are ‘up’ on the
new trends within the music industry.
