A production company is responsible for producing various forms of media like films, radio, and new media. They can range in size and may fund productions themselves. Production companies must sell their work to theaters, studios, or other distributors. This document discusses a fictional production company called "flash productionz" and their logo design. It also covers the roles of film distributors in preparing DVDs for wide public release and how they ship products. The production company in this case chose UK-based distributor "Marv Films" to handle their thriller film due to its experience with similar genres. Potential funding sources are also discussed.
2. What a production company does. A production company is behind the production of film, radio, new media and many more. They can vary in sizes and at times also be responsible for the funding of the production. Whether it is small or large it will still need to sell their production to maybe a theatrical venue or a studio.
3. The production company logos we have created. This is a snapshot of our company logo ‘flash productionz.’ We chose flash productions because we thought it stood out and would fit in with the image of the lightning bolt.We looked at ‘Marv films’ for inspiration.Their logo was quite simpleand straight to the point. Our logo
4. What does a distributor do? A film Distributor prepares the DVD's to be distributed widely into the public for general sale. They operate all of the of shipping to make sure it is available to the public to buy for home viewing.
5. Our film distributor We chose Disney film productions for our film distributor at the beginning because we thought it would be different for our viewers, however we soon realised that it wouldn’t make sense as they hadn’t released any thrillers and their films aren’t really for our market audience (15 yr olds).
6. Continued… We then settled on choosing ‘Marv Films’ as it is a UK based company and has realised many thrillers. Marv films have produced thrillers such as: ‘Harry Brown’ and ‘The debt’ which is a drama based thriller.
7. How our film might have been funded. We would choose to get fundings from Isle of Man Films and CinemaNX as they also funded ‘The disappearance of Alice Creed’ which is also a British made thriller. This film also relates to our film because it is about kidnapping.
