Evaluation Q6
1. WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT ABOUT TECHNOLOGIES FROM THE
PROCESS OF CONSTRUCTING YOUR PRODUCTS?
2. PHOTOSHOP
Photoshop was the software I used to create my products. It was
extremely useful and helped me to create attractive, professional
products. Before starting the course, I didn’t have a lot of experience
with Photoshop, but this changed and I would now say that I am very
comfortable using it to create media texts.
I learnt how to use most of the tools, including
lasso, airbrush, cropping, and the shape creator.
Selection Tool – I used this to
select the area of the cover
picture which I wanted to Text – I learnt how to use
remove. I learnt how to use it this window to quickly
effectively by changing the switch between
size, tolerance, and inversing the fonts, text size, and other
selection. options. It made my work
much quicker, and I was
also able to experiment
with more fonts.
Layers – Getting used to using
layers was quite hard at first, but
after some practice, I understood
Gradient Tool – For the
how they worked. To place text
background of the front cover, I
over a picture for example, the
used the gradient tool. I selected
text layer had to be higher in the
the colours I wanted to use, and
list than the picture layer. I also
then dragged it across the picture

and visibility from this window.
3. PHOTOSHOP PT. 2
I also used Photoshop to edit the images that I used for my products.
Using tools like brightness/contrast editor, and the saturation
editor, I created bright, vibrant images that fitted really well within
my texts.
This is where the image editor
tools are located. Some are
much more useful than
others, which I learnt through
experimenting with them all.
Vibrance and Saturation are also used to
make the colours more or less intense. I
found this to be useful when editing my
contents picture, as the original lighting
made the colours quite dull.
I found that the brightness and
contrast adjuster can bring
more (or less) colour to the
image, as well as changing the
lighting.
4. WIX.COM
Wix was the website I used to present my work. It’s a free online
website creator that was easy to use and had lots of features.
The HTML widget allowed me to embed slideshows and other
media onto my website. I didn’t have much experience with
HTML before, but I have learnt quite a bit through using this.
The text editor allowed me to
write straight onto the web
I learnt how to add pages to the pages in various fonts and
website and change the sizes.
order, names, and whether they
appear on the navigation bar. This
allowed me to organise my work
well in an easy to use system.
Wix allowed me to change the
appearance of the website, even
small things like how different
buttons look.
5. SLIDESHARE
Slideshare is a website that allows you to upload and share
slideshows. I used it to embed power points on my website.
Slideshare gives you the code to embed the
slideshow on your website. This has given me more The uploader is easy to use and allows you to upload more
ways to present my work creatively and allowed me than one show at a time. Before the course, I didn’t know
to create an interesting website. you could upload slideshows to the internet.
Similar presentations are shown, and this
has helped me to gain ideas and inspiration
for my own work.
6. HARDWARE
I used different hardware to make my media products.
I used my phone to text and call the band
members and arrange a suitable time to carry
out the photoshoot. I learnt about organisation
here and accounting for everyone.
To take the pictures for my products, I used the Canon 40D SLR.
This was the first time I used this camera so I had to get used to it
a bit. I played around with things like the exposure and the shutter
speed to compensate with the lighting at the location.
I used a 16GB USB stick to transfer
my work between college and
home. I learnt about the need to
back data up to prevent loss.
7. POWERPOINT AND EXCEL
Powerpoint and Excel were very helpful throughout the course.
I used powerpoint for many things, including audience
feedback, audience questionnaire, and evaluation. I learnt
how to create pie graphs on powerpoint and save them as
pictures to upload to my website.
Excel was used to create a Gannt Timeline, as well as creating pie charts with
powerpoint. This was done by selecting the chart wizard tool in powerpoint
and then typing the data into excel. This was the first time that I had done
this.
8. Overall, I now feel much more confident using the various
hardware and software that helped me create my products. I
had never used slideshare or wix before, and only had a small
amount of experience with photoshop.
